One of my favourite scene's between two characters - even though this scene omits a whole verse from the original text - the main jest of the poem is embodied here.
Who said that o'hara wasn't up to the part. He makes the earl of surrey important in the series, and not just a part filling in. He is everything the earl of surrey should be; strong, charecterful, memorable. Without him the last series would have been nothing. His voice i would love to have, piercing, vivid. A night discharged of all care. Because of him i memorised this poem. A great actor.
@MrJwm203 You are not alone, I too have memorized it, and started to use it as guiding philosophy, but I must say, It's very hard to follow it, even to the wisest man!
there is always a scene in a movie ( or sa series ) that makes you remember it forever, for me it's this poem, but not this scene, the scene that "marked" me was at his trial with this poem in the background.

The only bad thing about The Tudors was David O'Hara, personally he was a bad choice as all the other actors in all of the seasons were excellent (apart from Joss Stone for obvious reasons) David O'Hara is just such a bad actor in my opinion !
@stefcooldude5 I disagree. I think he's a great actor. I thought he was really good in the film Darfur.
But I agree that he shouldn't have been the Earl of Surrey. To me O'Hara didn't have the look. From what I've read and researched about the Earl of Surrey, I always pictured him as some skinny, pale, and creepy looking person with long hair, lol!
I think out of the whole series it was my most favorite bit. Showed a big of the humanism of the period. The fact that Henry Howard penned the poem in real life makes you think about of man a little more.
I couldn't more with both of you. On the one hand we see that Brandon did indeed grow up, and the incredible character development he has undergone is noteworthy. We also see Surrey in a reflective mood, suddenly considering the equality of men in terms of their hopes and dreams for the quiet mind. Additionally, this stand-alone scene is the most moving in the whole series. Despite its brevity it has true depth. Thank you ChrisRedfield for the upload.
Probably my most favorite scene in any show I've ever watched (there are many). I've probably watched this scene over a hundred times, I'm so glad to have found it on youtube.
This is beautiful and so true. The one of thing that made the Tudors wonderful was the steady differences that Brandon and Henry show throughout the show; Henry remains a spoiled play boy, and Brandon grows up and becomes wise.
Loved The Tudors - didn't realize though that David O'Hara was same guy from Braveheart!!

What is the music in the background?, it's a lovely piece...

@cremated Its from the series' soundtrack. Composed by 'Trevor Moriss' i think the piece is called 'I the eighth henry/brandon lux aeterna'

So, the Earl has a soft side after all. Still hate the arrogant prick though xD
