  • Tony Martin is surprisingly really great in Black Sabbath. That doesn't mean Ozzy or Dio sucks by comparison, I enjoy all three of these great versions.

  • IOMMI RULES !!

  • Cozy Rules!!!

  • POWERFUL...EPIC ....ETERNAL MUSIC...BLACK SABBATH!

  • I believe in the Kingdom of God...not religion \m/

  • martin is good but ozzy tony geezer and bill are the only true sabbath

  • @derekcorder

Ozzy couldn't even say the word "shit" if he just ate it.

The best thing that ever happened to Black Sabbath was that Drunk Fat Fuck quit and they replaced him with a SINGER.

  • now that dio is resting i think now more than ever is MARTIn's turn for a reunion

  • @kingchaun1 Totally agree Tony Needs to Be Back In This Band !! Ozzy Sabbath sucks in comparison !!

  • @kingchaun1

Tony Martin said he would NEVER play with Tony Iommi again after Iommi jerked him around during the mid 90's.

  • Powerful lyrics - amazing riffs - great solo - wonderful voice = BLACK SABBATH

  • Great song, great album. And you have to agree: Tony Martin is one hell of a singer.

  • The era wieh Toni Martin is exact what I missed. Did he sing on "Born Again" too?

  • @TheMuellerlein Ian Gillan was the vocalist at "Βοrn Again"

  • @LordAenaos666 Thanks a lot. I thought so, `cause never heard of T.Martin.....I.Gillan former was at Deep Purple, was he?

  • @TheMuellerlein Yes but only in "Born Again"

  • @LordAenaos666 Guess it would have been better if Gillan would sing instead of t.martin.I remember BORN AGAIN well, it came out during my apprenticeship in ´84 or ´85, Iwas the first in Otterndorf who bought it:-)

  • Ozzy was great before 96 the end.

  • Despite who your favorite Sabbath vocallist is, you cannot deny the quality if this work.

  • @3soccerstars It is most certainly an apples oranges thing, My initial point is addressing the common perception the Ozzy fans tend to have of Sabbath without him. Dio is my favorite Sabbath singer and Mob Rules is my favorite album. I do also believe that Tony Martin, who is second in # of albums with Sabbath only to Ozzy contributed a lot of great work between Eternal Idol and Cross Purposes, of which this is one. This is my favorite album of theirs from this time.

  • john lisin to lis

  • Yes, you're right, I ate some dexedrine and drank some wine and wrote all that shit and Sabbath Stones is not the last song on the album. It all made sense at the time.

  • Ozzy is not Sabbath. The first sabbath albums were vital to Sabbath, But Iommi is the mainstay, even in the worst of times for this band. Ozzy is my least favorite singer, and TYR is the culmination of the evolution of a sound being developed from Headless Cross and Eternal Idol. It's not Ozzy, and it's not Dio. It's not even Gillan. It's Black Sabbath, because of Tony Iommi. And this is a very good album, with a really good singer.

  • @achromat666

Respect your opinion- but disagree. Caught Sabbath's Mob Rules, and thought no one could replace Ozzy. Dio DESTROYED IN LA LIKE FREAKING GODZILLA. I've always been partila to Sabbath.

Proceeded to see Ozzy/ Dio/ Sab 4-5 times each.

In my opinion, comparing anyone after Ozzy/Dio is an apples oranges thing.

This song rocks as I'm typing though!

  • great!!!

  • 5. !" So the Vikings did take heed of the Sabbath Stones and that is why Scandinavia is a peaceful place. You can go to an outdoor metal concert in Scandinavia and get fucked up and for a while embrace "the stranger that laughs within you". But when it's over and you go home and back to work you better "take heed, the Sabbath Stones” or the cops will drag your sorry ass to jail.

  • @kathrynowad To bad nothing of that is true then

  • 4. There is a reason that "The Sabbath Stones" is the last track on the album. The Vikings come to realize that Tyr is a piss poor god- he lets people get killed and he apparently doesn't give a fuck about anything: "What god is this, that stands to hear his people cry? What hand would strike and watch as people die? What life, that takes? What future did we earn? It's our mistakes, take heed the Sabbath Stones!"

  • 3. . However, like everyone else, the Vikings had trouble adhering to the new social code because they actually liked to steal things and kill people who deserved it and they coveted their neighbors' hot wives and daughters: " Can faith destroy desire? Each breath a prayer, each step brings fear." Christianity displaced the evil pagan gods with the ultimate evil god- Satan and his legion of demons: "The eyes of they that see, have evil stare, watch over me."

  • 2. "Where darkness once would hide, with spirits high, our fears were born." Some Vikings embraced Christianity, while other Viking rulers came to realize that if they did not convert to Christianity, they would be wiped out by the armies of England and France. Though the Vikings did a lot of raping and pillaging, they came to embrace the social code that Christianity brought with it: The Ten Commandments- The Sabbath Stones

  • This song is about how Christianity supplanted the pagan beliefs of the Vikings. There were a number of reasons why the Vikings converted to Christianity. One, the Dark Ages were over: "The time of dreams has turned, the night is gone and light shines on." Christian missionaries brought the faith and some Vikings recognised that the christian god belief system brought some kind of inner peace to their lives that Tyr and the other pagan gods did not provide:

  • Not entirely true, religion is not the answer to why The Vikings converted.

  • Black Sabbath is always be Black Sabbath no matter how they sounded....love it or leave it...stop comparing the singers, they all have their own power, colour and character...

  • I don't accept this album as a Black Sabbath album at all, due to the fact that the only remaining member of Sabbath on this album is Iommi. I honestly believe that After Dio was fired, they should have changed the name then. I really and honestly only accept Ozzy as Black Sabbath's singer, as it always should have been, because Ozzy is the reason that the younger generations listen to Sabbath in the first place, sorry, but this album should have been under a different name...

  • very hard and very cool

  • Wow, there are loadsa positive comments on this vid. This must mean that there are still some sabbath fans out there. I respect you people!

  • Who are those bastards that pressed "dislike"??????????????

  • sorry I dont like this

  • @Silverneelsen ..... tzk...

  • Tony Martin is very, very good. This is just classic material! I wish more bands today would sound like this.

  • I don't know why that tony martin was not accepted like he should have been his voice is fucking awesmazing!!

  • I've always loved that riff!

  • I've always loved that riff!

  • Fuckin great song. I love the part 1:54 to 2:25.

  • omg , my childhood song :D , when i was 6 i was jumping like crazy to all songs from album TYR , sipmly beautiful!!!

  • bass line is just amazing .

  • there was a reunion on the forbidden tour, horrible album but a good show, the only songs I recall from this period was headless cross and the shining

  • This is evil and beautiful as one....The SAB rules forever!

  • Guess everyone is in silent worship of this song. Great melody and very underrated album / singer!

  • Glorious metal!!!!

  • I wish this version of Black Sabbath would have a reunion. Tony Martin rules.

  • @bunnygal079 cozy powell is dead!!! this version of sabbath cannot have a reunion!!! cozy rules!!!!

  • @bunnygal079 Cozy Powell is dead :,(

  • @bunnygal079 If they ever had a reunion I bet they wouldnt tour in the us.Hard to sell tickets.even sabbath with dio in 09. the arena was only about 40%% filled.in europe they would sell out..this era sabbath did very well in europe while most americans never heard it.I neaver discovered it tell about 10 yrs ago when i got online

  • @bunnygal079 Did you know that Tony planned such a reunion? Even calling the band "Headless Cross" (y'know as in "Heaven and Hell") but it fell thru. Damned shame that. I'd have gone.

  • The whole ALbum "TYR" Rocks .I need this album Now.I thrashed the cassett and have never seen it again.

  • ¡this si fucking majestic ! long live rock and roll

  • Yeah!!! they also infleuenc Viking Metal

  • Wonderful song.

  • This song is so beautiful

  • My opinion Dio has the best voice for Sabbath but Tony Martin had some, if not the best lyrics and this song could be made into a fucking movie. This is awesome. Regardless of who's the singer Black Sabbath rules.

  • The entire "TYR" album would make an awesome movie! I never thought of that!!

  • I haven't listened to this track in many years. Wow! This is a fantastic BLACK SABBATH track as good as any from any era of the band!!! Awesome!!

  • I'm adding this album to my wishlist.

  • For sure bro!

  • fuckin nice cant belive why this was so underrated, Tony Martin really did fit into sabbath with these albums from 80s and 90s

  • Oh this is a nice one! I have not yet listen or bought the TYR album...and this is pretty good!

  • ...and the bass

    hell yeah!!!

  • Neil Murray is a fucking beast. When he was touring with the band during the HC tour, his role on When Death Calls (which you can see on youtube) far surpasses the original recording.

  • kick ass

  • No Tony Martin. Dio's voice is much softer than this.

  • Very powerful

  • wow this is an awesome song.

    way tooo underrated!!

  • amazing solo, great song

  • hell yeah :)

  • awesome
