  • does anybody know who is the girl?

  • what do you guys think about him singing "i'm not f*cking around" in "i want to be well"? it caught me by surprise; thought it was a bit over the top

  • @blakcpavement Think he can say what he wants to.

  • @blakcpavement trolololol

  • Lol. I thought this was a cover of Janet Jackson's Pleasure Principle.

  • "I'm nothing but a privileged peddler." Might be my new favorite Sufjan line ever. This song makes me feel alive again.

  • Who is the girl?

  • @appleipodtips Cat Martino, is the one with short hair.

  • I always open up this song in a separate tab/window with the intentions of having backround music while browsing, and end up just watching the entire video enthralled. <3 you Sufjan

  • hes adorable XD ,. his cute smile,. pretty voice ,... GAAHH!!

  • I questioned my sexuality a bit after watching this.

  • oh i love him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a successful classically trained violinist and it saddens me that I will probably never make music like this..

  • Since everyone has posted about the greatness of the artist and the music I'mma just say that I would kill for his headband.

  • It makes me sad if he is talking about himself in this song. :(

  • @TheMissApril1989 Yes, but isn't he holding onto the words the girl said to him "we can do much more together"

  • @TheMissApril1989 I could be wrong (and I probably am), but my sense is that he probably wrote this when he was young, perhaps in his teens (or that he wrote it later, and it's ABOUT a relationship that happened during his teen years). I can't imagine that the adult, deeply spiritual Sufjan who advises to "get real, get right with the Lord" would "want nothing less than pleasure".

  • this is pure magic... per usual Sufjan, per usual. <3

  • Can someone please help out with a partial tab at least? this is gorgeous =(

  • I never knew that the final part of "Impossible Soul" was called "Pleasure Principle." All I know is that the first time I listened to Impossible Soul all the way through, I seriously wanted to cry after this part. So sad and beautiful

  • I can't describe what I'm feeling right now. It's a euphoric yet melancholy atmosphere...I feel fulfilled.

  • 3 dislikes... I never understood why deaf people opened YouTube

  • suddenly, a wild dessner twin appeared

  • he looks so damn sad when he's singing.

  • I think I like the live version better this is sweet!!

  • I skip to this part everytime

  • i love how he smiles at the end of all these videos. he has perfect teeth. and eyes...and voice...oh, and did you see those arms?! nice.

  • He has the prettiest eyes I've ever seen.

  • This song is about sex, I JUST KNOW IT

  • @xXCheekyMonkiezXx I thought I was the only one. What much more could they do together? right, right?

  • @xXCheekyMonkiezXx I think judging by the lyrics that the song is about a relationship where one party wants that (sex, pleasure), and the other wants much more, which of course ends up as such a mess.

  • So this section is called "Pleasure Principle?" I like that title. This man's music has changed me. Age of Adz helped me so much in my life and Impossible Soul is my all time favorite song ever, with this being the best part.

  • That right there is one good lookin' man..

  • why am i crying. this is insane. so much emotion. I want to die listening to this song.

    love you sufjan!

  • its many story;)

  • Sufjan is Bjork's soul sister.

  • So talented, but cant dress for shit :) Ilu sufjannnn

  • His smile is so beautiful. Beautiful man <3

  • right at 2:31.....

  • this is so fucked up

  • amazing lyrics

  • @MatthewWittT I think Sufjan made something weird, different but genius with this album. At first these songs were too strange for me, but after a while I could really enjoy all of them. I fell in love with the ADZ and still keep listening this individual and crazy masterpiece. (a Hungarian fan)

  • perfect

  • @MatthewWittT

Different strokes, indeed. And more pure, certainly. But I really dig all that impurity. Heh. Messy grandiose I'm very interested to see what he does next.

  • I involuntarily smiled when he smiled at the end. LOVE THIS GUY

  • @MatthewWittT

No way. It would be intensely boring compared to the glory of AGe Of Adz.

  • oh my goood... oh my goood, why did i discover this just now?? on what cd is this song?? why is he soo gorgeous, why and how is a man sooo great, and why the fuck does he have to smile like that in the end??

  • @cinestar2 it's the last bit of Impossible Soul, from Age of Adz.

  • that smile at the end...swoon worthy

  • why does he look so cute.

  • what album is this one from?

  • @rey5000 Age of Adz- It's the end of the final 25 minute track. Best album I've ever heard.

  • Comment removed

  • @rey5000 last part of the song impossible soul

  • his words are movies.....

  • SUF, WE CAN DO MUCH MORE TOGETHER. *extends arms*

  • ...Sufjan makes me bisexual...

  • The best songwriter alive today... if not in the last hundred or so years.... anyone???

  • When he says 'feather' I want to melt!!!

  • fuck, he's so beautiful.

  • magnanime

  • Good song, but, um.... when did he start dressing like marky mark circa '86?

  • The amount of audio and visual beauty in that 3 minute clip is unbearable. Sufjan, in the words of Morris Day in Purple Rain, "I'm gonna make you love me..."

  • @MatthewWittT How do you mean that?

  • just beautiful, great performance! By the way there is another very nice clip from Sufjan live on soundcheck, search for futile devices soundcheck

  • Oh sufjan...

  • I can't understand how such incredible beauty is even possible.

  • What a beautiful human being.

  • Where is Shara Worden???? D:

  • Impossible Soul is one of my favorites but this section, separated from it's huge epic environment does nothing for me, i almost hate it actually.

  • Anyone know who the backup singers are?

  • @paradigmshift7758 Cat Martino's the one with the short hair and Nedelle Torrisi is the other :) Lovely singers live and they both make their own music too.

  • I can't stop watching this.

  • Oh my gosh... !!

  • Not sure if I ended up liking Age of Adz, I think there was a lack of resolution, just observations and incited emotions. I had fun listening to the album numerous times picking out musical phrases that I missed, but after awhile the subjects of the songs fell stale to my ears and his croons began to feel like whining. I think he tries to solve every thing in the end with rally of happiness but it sounds forced like he grew tired of the project. ruined the album on my first listen i always skip

  • It's weird hearing just this part of the epic "Impossible Soul", which only emphasizes to me why it's necessary to hear the whole song instead of in parts. This part alone is like some strange therapy session... Seeing them sitting in a circle and everyone's expressions entirely too serious make it worse (especially when the short haired female sings "pleasure" LOL). I can't help but laugh! Thank God he smiles at the end, otherwise I'd feel bad.

  • Love those backup singers

  • Truly exceptionally utterly wonderfully marvellous

  • I'm a straight man but by god he's a handsome man, isn't he? I think I love Sufjan - He's such a humble, honest, and seems easy going man. He has it going on!

  • wait WHAT is that Bryce or Aaron Dessner on guitar?

  • @onthebrink11 haha yep! seems to be.

  • @onthebrink11 It's Bryce...

  • Oh this is unbearably beautiful! Swooning just a little at that smile. But what's with the headband?! ;)

  • Involuntary tears are slowly forming...Beautiful.

  • I'm just gonna hide under my blanket, sing Be Mine (Robyn) because that flawless human being in that video will never be mine *CRYING*

  • @Handnote you never know

  • @Handnote im doing that very thing at this moment. what i wouldnt give to sing with him..... and that smile seriously just melted my heart... its here in a jar.. i have proof. i just....i just cant... i cant wait for the future when there are actually little people in the computer/TV screens so i can just pick him out of the screen and carry him around in my pocket.... only then he might get squished. he can sit on my shoulder. or my head. AH brb dying.

  • The best part of 'Impossible Soul.'

  • That smile at the end kills me. His face kills me. His voice kills me.

  • @M2theAddie your quite active for a dead person....

  • @M2theAddie

    But you're still alive...

  • @M2theAddie omg yes! hearing his voice, seeing him, just anything sufjan stevens makes me get all excited inside and i get giddy like an idiot. love him, love him, love him!!! hahaha ok, i'm done being ridiculous now...

  • this ain't cat stevens
