Kweli's voice is irritating man.... where's that rawness from 2000 seasons. I Know times have changed, but I have been supporting his music from day one, got all the albums(originals), but I just wish he would make just one track, with that original rawness i heard in "for women" or "twice in a life time" .
Whats the name of the girl in this video? Is it Reesie or something like that? Saw Talib in concert last night in Boston, I think this girl was with him but I can't find her name... anyone?
Only 54k in views!? Just goes to show that true Hip-Hop still has ground to make up from that hip-pop shit. Been a T.K. a Hi-Tek fan for a min., but this track is the best of the new stuff that's every bit as good as the early black star, reflection eternal stuff. Not quite as deep, but still the dopest of the dope ass lyricists. Up there with PUTS and DOOM, I'm from Dayton, just a few north of the 'Nati and I'm proud to say that Kweli and Hi-Tek are the best!
My favorite reflection eternal video, That young Asian guy in the End Produced the Video. Its recent also, never seen it on TV though. I'm gonna download the song and bump in myBlack 2010 CRV in CT...baby. All seriousness My man Talieb seriously stepped up on the vocals without Mos in this one. I luv luv luved the Brazillian guitar sample looped in the chourusProps to that girl 2, and his quick lyrics. Very refreshing.
real rap won't get recognised by the degenerate moronic public spastics and you know what? IM FUCKING GLAD, they're missing out - enjoy you're B.O.B fags
@KiLaBehindU u reachin dukes. its not about hoes shakin they ass and Kweli doesnt need u to defend his art. it's about an artist of Kweli's caliber maintaining creative quality control to make sure his vision is presented at its most optimal.
it's called objective constructive criticism. pump ya breaks, hip-hop purist stan.
@Zr0c00l Blackstar tracks were mostly produced by Hi-Tek though so I guess you could say he was part of it, so they essentially were a group. There should really be another Blackstar album but that will be difficult now that Mos has signed to G.O.O.D Music.
I hate the fact that real music like this gets drowned out by the nonsense garbage that is blasted on the radio today. Then again I really don't want real hip hop to be commericalize and manufactured just to make a quick dollar.
This shit blew my mind when I first heard it, Its amazing I love the 3rd verse, dang man, they should really promote his music more. The real artists always have lower views, no matter how lyrical, its like they want the same songs over and over, just the same song, remixed with different arragnements(Theives in the Night, reference), Talib is always real, true and amazing lyrically, Like he says he gets better with time(Reference to this song...lol)
Reseeee looks so bad ass here circa powerful black panther woman vibe n' you three sound beautiful. miss you Kweli n' Tek - peace n' luv Yaelli the drummer
If Pac was here, I could already hear him saying," yes, yes, YES, where my real thugs, where they at , where they at, wheres my real thugs, where they at?"
I cant believe hi tek even showed his face in this video. If your not rappin in it fuck that shit then. This is basically just Kweli. I dont even know why they call themselves reflection eternal when its just Talib Kweli rappin over Hi Tek beats which he does anyways. The whole album is like this. Good raps but kinda gay Hi Tek doesnt rap on it.
@ShutTheFuckUp0809 if it was just kweli and no hi-tek, then it would just be acapella. hi-tek is just as part of the music as kweli and has just as much responsibility to represent. each piece they put out is the result of an artistic partnership utilizing the elements of hip-hop and the name of that partnership is reflection eternal. it's like fresh prince and DJ jazzy jeff.
@ShutTheFuckUp0809. What a ignorant comment. If you know there flow, Reflection eternal is two elements. So don't write something that doesn't make any sense
@ShutTheFuckUp0809 I'm not sure how old you are...or how big of a fan of hip hop u are...but if you ever listened to GangStarr (Guru & DJ Premier) Guru rapped over Premier's beats and that was that. It's nothing new...Kool G rap & DJ Polo, (hate to admit it, but Fresh Prince & DJ Jazzy Jeff) now new school rappers doing it ...Ruste Juxxe & Marco Polo...it's actually coming back around again Skyzoo & Illminds etc...Talib and Tek...but Hi Tek does rap though.
@MrKnowItAll1987 btw i meant you're right hahaha, just backing you up because there's too many fools out here who don't get what it's all about. can't hate on these two, it's just ridiculous to try.
im sick of hearing folks claim to be fans then claim either they feel he sold outo n a few joints and dont sound the same, or that thwey fell off and dont sound better on this album...the album has 17 tracks, 14 are filled with positivity love and hope and real talk of the avergae joes struggles in todays society..and the mainstream joints he made 4 themasses was SMART,real in the listneers, buy the album and he then can TEACH the masses whats going on..SMART way to SPREAD THE POSITIVE SUBSTANCE!
1) I don't think he sold out (I'll let it go that he was on MTV MADE). 2) I just want raw beats and passionate rapping such as "ghetto afterlife" and "eternalists"
@MrKnowItAll1987 this should be in consideration for album of the year, it brings everything, and if you don't have a few bangers in your album it's incomplete so they had to. they brought straight fire on every track with intelligence and truth like no one else in the game, except maybe lupe but that's another argument. obviously these two geniuses are gonna' get overlooked because their name doesn't have a young money label by it, but damn this is what real hip hop is, disagree & youre a fool
people seem to be complaining bout this album only because of the way kweli tries 2appeal to the masses with joints like the estelle, midnight hour for example...why shouldnt he? think of it from a smart business point...if kweli gives theindustry a couple club joints and the mainstream masses something commercial enough they can get wit it, if they go out buy.download the album, chances are they will give it a THOROUGH LISTEN..and kwelis positive message and substamce on the album will b heard
@MrKnowItAll1987 or lyrics like "too late" 'Me an Tek stay way blunted, wave running on beaches with whtie sand, with a slight tan, smack the mic stand with my right when I'm excited, leave you so far in the dust that you're forced to bite it.'
I dont understand why some folks are claiming to be so called "reflection eternal" fans but then hypocritically claim the album doesnt compare to their others and isnt even as good as the first album....I just dont get it...kweli brings the substance, talks about real shit, thepolitics from here in america to overseas, the realities of life, things that matter, not only that but kweli finally found his niche and sound and FINALLY has a commanding mic precense and comfortability on how to flow
Seen kweli 3 times, love reflection eternal.....but this album lacks substance. Like they just made it without a purpose. As big a fan as I am, I only give props when due. 2/5 stars.
@3ternalist ARE YOU NUTS??? LACKS SUBSTANCE??? let me ask again are you NUTS?? lacks substance?? have you listened? the entire album is mainly substance....Kweli did maybe a total of3tracks that had commercial appeal...the joint with estelle, etc every other song is positive and uplifting..even the estelle joint is classya nd respectful and he kills that style of beat...the album promotes positivity, he talks abount the world we live in today, especially with the politics, talks about everything!
@3ternalist btw made itwithout a purpose? i think hes stance on whats gfoin on with the government andhow half the album alone talks about the struggles economically on the common person and during thesetryinig times of inspirational presidenting on baracks behalf, he felt it neccessary to drop the album with the theme being positive concepts with deep lyricality like no other album of his, with a message of hope &hoping to crack into the mainstream ears with it is a "pretty good"purpose to me!
I don't listen to the radio, but if this aint playin in the rotation, it should be. This is what a radio hit should sound like, easy listening but still lyrical with substance.
OOOOh yeah...THIS is what hip hop is supposed to sound like. I forgot for a minute with all of this fake shit on the radio that's masqurading as hip hop.
Real recognize real. Leave it up to some guys with real talent to hook up with a woman with the same. Res is another one of those highly underated artists. I still prefer her cd or the crap on the radio. Great song for some great artists.
Mos def had one of best ablum last year!! But my man Kweli and Hi tek coming with it in 2010. Revolutions per minute is a classic and CD didn't drop yet with the 5 bangers i heard it will not disspoint!! LOL I saved my pennies up i will buy this CD. May 18th.
this is actually a good video. songs amazin aswell

When I first heard this song I though Mariah Carey was on the chorus.

@ericksvhs That is not no Mariah Carey. Unlike Mariah, this lady actually can sing and sound good with this song.

Real recognize real. Leave it up to some guys with real talent to hook up with a woman with the same. Res is another one of those highly underated artists. I still prefer her cd or the crap on the radio. Great song for some great artists.

One of their best songs ever, true quality right there. And Train of Thought was great too, this song sounds like it could have been a '90's classic.
