Amazing ! These videos are real! NO actors! Camera man was brave to get so close when he could have been killed. Some were killed in wars. War after war, weapons after weapons: this tells me there will NEVER be peace -unfortunately. However, videos like this one are interesting , good video/ music, and narrator did a good job too!
It's amazing that Hitler didn't abandon the Western Front and put everything on the Eastern Front to allow the Western Allies to march straight to Berlin to keep the Soviets back.
This Q is for people who have watched the movie, "Saving Private Ryan." If u recall the beginning of the movie about the Omaha beach landings, the graphic scene displays just how horrifying, disturbing and terrifying the battle was. E.g., 100 bullets flying every second, mangled body from artillery fires, soldiers missing limbs or part of their body. How intense was the battle on the Eastern Front compared to the scene of the Omaha beach landings?
@nicesinging1 Kind of like comparing apples and oranges -- Normandy landing was a single battle, in a single day. Eastern Front was, well, an entire front, lol, several campaigns over almost four years. I'd say any time where you're getting shot at would be "intense." ;)
@nicesinging1 Think of that happening at about 10 times the scale, and ten times more intense and then you have the real Omaha landings. Now magnify that by about 10 times the scale and 10 times the intensity and you have an everyday skirmish on the Eastern front.
I am surprised that soldiers were meant to run away with bazooka type weapons. When I was in the army - 35 years later - the instructions were to fire and run abandoning the weapon.

what type of bazooka where you firing?
The LAW or the AT4?
Astroman1990 2 years ago
Neither, it was the Milan - if I remember correctly (I wonder if that is the AT4?).
alanheath 2 years ago
Simple reason for that - the German troops couldn't afford loosing equipment of any kind at that change.
