I really liked Rochas thanks to your review, something unisex about it.
I have a request. If it is possible, could you please review Iris Poudre by FM, since you seem to know well and like FM perfumes. The thing is, I have smelled it before and now I can't seem to make up my mind about purchasing it, since it's quite expensive. What I would like to know is, does it seem more flirty or more on the austere side to you?
Anyways, love your reviews, always great! Hope to see more soon :)
Thanks for that review! It's my dads favourite perfume! Have you done a review on any of the Britney Spears perfumes, if not could you do one please! Xxx
hey everyone, I just nominated Katie for a shorty award, please go vote for her at shortyaward website. Once there just search her name so she can be a finalist for "youtube star" catagory!
Hey Katie! What can you recommend for highschool? Not looking for a generic sport scent but rather a nice warm lush distinguishing scent that can be pulled off in high school!?!?
@Carlosoraibi You sound like you know your way around fragrances, with words like "warm lush distinguishing". On the dryer side of "warm lush", I like Ck Be, L'Occitane Eau des Baux, The Body Shop White Musk for Men, and Bulgari Black. On the sweeter side of "warm lush", try Cannabis Santal and Prada Amber pour Homme Intense.
Hmm, I need to check this out. You recommended New Haarlam to me as a coffee fragrance and I love it! It's a "teleportation fragrance" When I sniff it, I am transported to a smokey, dim-lit room where they serve coffee and rich desserts whilst listening to jazz and playing cards. I can see it so clearly-- and I never even been to a location remotely like that!!! Ha! Poor-gal's Holodeck!
ooh, thank you for explaining this fragrance to me. It's in my husband's pretty much UNUSED (darn!) fragrance collection and when I am not surreptitiously dousing him in it, I wear it myself...
Hi Katie, do you have any recomendations for a replacement for Lovely by SJP since it's been discontinued? I already have the EDT and EDP of Narciso Rodrigues for her, but they're not quite as wearable during the day as Lovely. Any ideas?
Oooh, sounds enticing AND versatile. After your recommendation for Eau des Baux (thanks for that, by the way) I've been really into checking out the dude scents. The gents have some good stuff going on without going too much in fruity floral territory. I like that. Thanks for the vid, love all your reviews!
Thanks Katie! I have been looking for a good gourmand fragrance to wear once the weather starts to warm up. I usually have a hard time finding them. I just went and ordered a bottle - can't wait to give it a sniff. Keep the gourmand reviews coming!
wow. coffee, vanilla and licorice. now i know what my husband is going to be wearing for the rest of this season! it's time to grow up and take a break from the greasy kid stuff, anyway:)
Didn't this fragrance used to come in a purple horn? If it's the Rochas Man I remember, there's a balance to it that I don't like to it, if anyone else feels the same about it, but still likes the idea of its basic construction, it's good to also try Body Kouros by YSL which is very similar, and I would also describe as being unisex.
Missed you Katie! As for your review here, I think you could have replaced Rochas Man with New Haarlem and the review would have been nearly identical. Thanks for mentioning the lavender. It is an often overlooked component.
@evans4you Angel Men is ultra-gooped up with caramel, chocolate, mint, chocolate and patchouli, along with the coffee and lavender of Rochas Man. A*Men is high calorie, thick and busy, Rochas Man is more streamlined, elegant and low key.
@BlindWatchMakers That cheers me incredibly that you support me - I'm deeply appreciative. It's been hard for me to keep a regular video upload schedule in the last month, but I promise I will be more active soon.
@BlindWatchMakers Then I forgive you and will do it again for my next purchase! If I didn't love your videos so much I wouldn't have to be so cross. :)
hey katie do you know any good coffee smelling fragrances for women? i love the smell of it and i really just want to smell like i was rolled in coffee beans....any ideas?
@cachouski For a straight "I'm just a little coffee bean" fragrance, try Cafe Noir by Ava Luxe (click on Fragrance Names on my channel front page to locate review). For more of a perfume composition, try Bond No. 9 New Harlaam and Perfumerie Generale Coze. Others to seek out are: Jo Malone Black Vetyver Café, L'Artisan Parfumeur L’Eau du Navigateur. They're all unisex.
@KatiePuckrikSmells I was just about to ask you for recommendations for women, but you already answered my question. I will definitely be trying these out! Thanks so much for all your lovely and entertaining reviews.
Katie please, just one question. Have you tried Gendarme EDP? If so, how is it compared to the original? Your youtube video where you talk about it is on their website, congrats! :)
@notreveh Oh that's nice! Thanks for letting me know.
I've tried the entire Gendarme line, but for me, the original is the true star. The point of Gendarme is that it's a subtle skin scent, and it doesn't make sense to me to have a louder, more penetrating version of a subtle skin scent. Besides, the original has plenty of longevity as it is. And once that clean musk is amplified to a denser concentration, it hits that nerve-grating, shrieky note.
I had this fragrance. A nice lavender/vanilla coffee scent! But then I decided to step up the game I got myself a bottle of New Haarlem that I adore!!
I've been wearing this on and off for almost ten years. So glad to hear your thoughts on it! Although, I will admit to mixing this with DKNY Be Delicious for Men to cut down on some of the sweetness these days.
could you maybe do a top ten favorite androgynous scents? im a boy but i feel weird in super masculine scents because they dont suit my personality at all. anyway i hope you will do this for me. i love your channel :D
@falloutmnky Good idea for a segment. Off the top of my head, my fave androgynous scents are: Bulgari Black, Mugler Womanity, Bulgari Omnia, Dior Bois d'Argent, Hermès Eau des Merveilles, Jennifer Aniston, Lolita Lempicka, Guerlain Shalimar, Guerlain Habit Rouge, Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely, Dior Escale à Pondichéry, Agent Provocateur L'Agent, Mugler Alien, Kiehl's Coriander, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, YSL Elle. Oops - that's over 10!
@falloutmnky Apres l'ondee by Guerlain is the perfumery definition of androgyny for me, and anything else with good chunk of iris, salt or citrus. There is also (in how I understand perfume) a difference between androgynous and what I would call hermaphroditic perfumes. Coco Mademoiselle for example is a hermaphrodite, with both masculine and feminine components combined, whereas apres l'ondee is an androgyne not able to be classed as either, as beyond gender both in parts and as a whole.
@thedivers100 Hermaphrodite vs. androgyne - what a clever distinction! I agree with you: Coco Mlle is a hermaphrodite (as is Angel and L'Agent). Eau de Merveilles, Womanity, Coriander, Omnia are androgynes.
Great review Katie! Btw, what do you think about another Maurice Roucel creation, Reflection Woman by Amouage? I am undecided between Reflection and Ciel by Amouage for this summer :-) Thanks!
Thanks for this review, Katie!! I would love to hear your thoughts on Fourreau Noir by Serge Lutens - it's one of those your-skin-but-better scents ;)
@FreedyTube I'm wearing my sample of Fourreau Noir now, and the first thing I thought was "masculine!", because anything lavender does that to me. I wouldn't say it's skin-like (it's more the musk frags that smell like enhanced skin), but the lavender is beautifully softened by the amber and smoke and honey, and later by a nutty whiff. I like that it's not as syrupy as other Serge Lutens numbers.
@KatiePuckrikSmells Thank you so much. I ordered the bell bottle of it this week and am excited. I do like the concept of this fragrance very much - the almond especially even if it's just a soft whiff. Thank you for sharing your associations with this scent :)
Mmmm, sounds like a nice fragrance for my hubby for Valentines Day. I was wondering what your thoughts on Creed's Jasmine Imperatrice Eugenie or Hermes 24 Faubourg. I really enjoy your videos. You have a good sense of humor.
@TheOrganiclady Thank you! I've not tried the Creed, but 24 Faubourg is rich and full-bodied, indeed, bosomy. It's beautiful, but not for casual wear.
@KatiePuckrikSmells@TheOrganiclady Thanks for getting back to me. Bosomy...hmmm...that is an interesting description. Maybe that is why I get so many compliments from men on that perfume. I will certainly have stop wearing it with overalls!
@TheOrganiclady I do associate the perfume with grand evenings out, but if most of your grand times take place in overalls (what with the compliments and all), then just keep on with however and whenever you're wearing it.
Damnum Katie, give me dat choco.
