  • To people who suggested Collosi: Collosi takes a while to build as it's on the higher end of the tech tree and is not so useful against a stimpacted Terran army until its range is researched. Considering how most Terrans opt for bio heavy army accommodated with Medivacs, it's easy to assume he has a reactor on the Starport. The tech switch to Vikings does not take very long and those Vikings can easily snipe Collosi as they have better advantage on positioning. Collosi is very risky play in TvP.

  • Range can be simultaneously researched while your Colossi are building. It's one of the things that you definitely get when you invest in Colossi. Really he should have done it the moment he knew his opponent was going MMM. And what were you going to suggest against MMM? Psi Storm? That's just as high on the tech tree. If he was going to go for Vikings to fight the Colossi, it should be noted that Stalkers are readily available as a counter.

    You are right about psi storms being as tech heavy but HT do build faster if you were to lose them. Also the AOE and DMG is much higher in respect. We can also mention that feedback can be used to snipe drops as well. Either option are viable depending on map. I guess it's just my preference as a toss player.

  • Oh wow... I couldn't expect that terran would win another game! His clever and intuitive usage of this never before seen strategy was amazing! I have never seen such amazing play in my life! It's like he was winning on skill instead of stim-attack-move-rape-everythi­ng!

    Wow Crota, please cast more terran games! I love to see every single freaking terran game go MMM into siege tank and win! Who needs micro when you have medivacs and concussive shells and can click on the strongest unit to kill!

You seem like you are the kind of person that blames the game every time you lose, instead of taking the responsibility.

  • @SumerianScientist1 google the top 200 SC2 players buddy. Almost half of them are terran. Sometimes the terran legtimimately wins but sometimes it is an even game except for inballance. If you bothered reading Blizzard's recent release they mentioned a lot of changes for terran, especially nerfs for BCs and siege tanks as well as a reaper build time nerf. Protoss are nerfing zealots and warpgates. zerg nerf ultralisks. Obviously most fixes apply to terran. Go do your research.

  • @radagastthe3rd And what is the other half? In the top 20 there are 8 terran and 9 protoss, with only 3 zerg. I am aware of the up coming nerfs, and the fact that terran has a few more than the rest does not mean that it made them op verse protoss. Stop crying about stupid things like terran op, especially since it really only affected high level zerg players. NOT PROTOSS!

  • @SumerianScientist1 most of the nerfs are aiding the protoss zealots. Zealots used to melt to reapers and siege tanks but are now getting stronger. It just takes longer to get zealots. This means that Protoss are getting stronger vs terran. I wonder why. It's not like the terran are getting buffs vs protoss.

  • @radagastthe3rd I have never heard or seen a single high level player ever make the claim that terran was op against toss. Reapers did not ever "melt" Zealots, and it is not like the toss are getting any thing buffed vs toss. I was and always will be a balanced match up.

  • @radagastthe3rd PvT is my own personal opinion but I think that this patch will help protoss against terran. I agree that this is more my personal opinion than a widely accepted fact.

  • Crota if a pylon dies while it is warping in some units (in this case a sentry and a stalker) then you get most of the minerals/gas back. You don't just lose the resources. This is also true if a tech building is destroyed when it is researching something. You get most of your money back.

    -Turn up your mic volume, and game volume.

    -Slow down. You don't need to try talking so fast. We prefer quality over quantity, so instead of talking really fast and getting many things wrong/ stumbling on your words, slow down and think for a moment.

    Also, try to cut down on the predictions.

    Exactly, hence why I prefer Crota over Husky or HD. I wish for him to be one of the best of the best. However to do that, he needs to receive criticism and comments.

    He said he says that he is still practicing and is welcoming any constructive criticism. Hence me helping him as viewer on things which irritate us.

    So instead of just flaunting Crota with suckup comments, appreciate what he does, and criticize on what he can improve on to help him become better.

  • In all preference, I actually like his fast rate of talking, it lets him express his quirk. I chuckled heavily on the "guardian shields to protect the intensity of the flavors" moment and I expect more from him. XD

    He goes in depth on the units too and it certainly gives you a sense of how crazy the game could actually get. It's just his style, bro.

  • FYI they don't get "Taken down" when you lose power while warping people in. They get their money back. The only thing the toss lost was his warpgate cooldown.

  • @Aedus14 Holy shit people are dumb as hell. Storm is not very strong against massed marauders, and a couple early immortals do a lot of damage to a marauder heavy terran army. A terran with good micro will just stim and kite the shit out of your useless zealots. I never said it was a bad idea to knock the rocks, but he obviously didn't want to spare the units to go kill the rocks. If the terran scans and scouts at the right time he has how many units out of position? Fucking dumb kids.

    What if August transitioned to more Marines instead of Marauders? A likely scenario here considering the fact that Scar was getting air. What the fuck are Immortals going to help with? He didn't even use the Robo for anything else.

  • @Aedus14 I never said I was better than the pro players that any of these casters cast lol. Where do you get these accusations from? He SAW that he had a bulk of marauders, several times. Zlots are still going to be needed and if he switches to more rines, then the zealots he should be building the whole time will tear the marines apart. I didn't say once he should mass immortals, I said a few would make a big difference instead of the 2 stalkers equivalent cost. What a dumb kid you are.

  • @DoCKathos No. You can still do just fine with building more Zealots and/or Sentries than getting an expensive Robo Fac, especially when you're not pushing out. Every good Protoss player can handle Marauders without Immortals. You claim the Marauders will kite the shit out of his Zealots ignoring the fact that the only place the battle was taking was by his ramp and by his expo. No room to kite there dumbass. And I never suggested using HTs either.

  • @Aedus14 Right because that worked so well for him, I never knew zlots could charge up cliffs. 1 Immortal is the equivalent cost of 2 stalkers and against marauders is infinitely more effective making the investment well worth it. What good are more zealots if they're clumped up in a ramp, shooting fish in a barrel much? You're a bad player, just accept it.

    'What if he transitions into more marines?' HT kill rines very well, they're also a nice counter to the roaming medivacs with good placement

  • @DoCKathos Since Crota was supposed to know that four minutes later the guy would cliff him with Marauders right? Marauders do less DPS than Marines - any equivalent Zealot/Stalker army can handle them fine anywhere else. And yes, the top of the ramp is actually a good spot to trap Marauders. FF the ramp and they have nowhere to go.

    Clearly the smart terran will also dive up a ramp, when he knows the P is using sentry. Clearly.

  • @DoCKathos I asked you what a Robo Fac would do if he transitioned to Marines. You answered with "use HTs". You cannot get both Robo Fac and a Temp. Archives. Pro-gamers have to cut expensive tech buildings such as Robo Facs all the time, which is why Crota didn't agree with the toss player's knee-jerk reaction in getting it. If you disagree, it's because you know dick about optimization and meta-game. Bye.

    Unfortunately "I suck real bad and and get the shit kited out of my units whenever I play against Terran" is not a valid argument for your position. I can handle Marauder comps just fine with T1.5 Warp Gate units.

  • Given time and resources, both can be used together. BUT, HT are more expensive even if you just make a few and it would have the Terrans transition into Ghosts for EMP.

    And you aren't thinking of the big picture, The Marauders may not be able to push in, but they can lock you inside your base with their turtling. Fat chance on trying to build units without resources. Sure you can unload some HT, but with their slow speed, a few cloaked ghosts can EMP the lot and walk away Scot-free.

  • @Machdude Yes indeed, and after a point I would have to say that both are usually necessary. To be fair though now that I take a look back on this game I think a lot of his problem was the fact that he was trying to make the mothership useful and personally I despise the MS. He did end up throwing a lot of money into that tech and I don't think he could effectively fight the terran because of it. Carriers may have actually been a nice surprised, 2-3 of them may have torn his army up.

  • The MS vortex ability could have probably been useful if you were going for a base raid and wanted to keep the siege tanks and marauders off while your units do the dirty work. One does wish the Arbiter was still around though, its field ability not only locked units out of battle but it also created physical obstructions for enemies to bypass. It was an awesome unit if not for the goddamn gas requirement.

  • Crota isn't bad per se, he is primarily a Terran player (like most people) and only recently picked up the Protoss. His actual skills is about level with a lot of enthusiasts although he certainly is not qualified for the big leagues like Whitera.

    His predictions are fine, not everyone is perfect.

  • @Machdude Haha you're quite diplomatic =p I personally don't like the predictions because it's just not something I want to hear as I don't feel it really adds anything to the commentary, to each their own I know some people like it. He picks good matches usually and half the time I watch them muted because I find him annoying, but at the same time watching a replay muted is kind of a drag. I just really dislike his commentating, I know people make mistakes but he tends to be too much for me.

  • Doc has the point on this one although I would say that he is a bit too vulgar about it. However, the Robotics Facility does not just produce Immortals, a couple of Colossi would have done the job if you have an observer. Extended Thermal Lance combined with the Observer is unbelievably effective against Marauders and if you back them up with Phoenixes or Stalkers, those Medivacs will have a hard time trying to kill them.

  • @Machdude Yes, Colossi would have "done the job" just fine. So why didn't he get them? It's too expensive. You can't just get whatever sounds good in a real game. Sometimes you have to cut expensive tech buildings like a robo fac.

  • So sending out and wasting an army of Stalkers and Sentries is fair game? A group of stalkers (I'd say 10) costs 1250 minerals and 500 gas. Gas tends to not be used heavily for an infantry army so he would definitely have an abundance of it. For that many minerals, you would have 4 colossi who would mow down those Marauders like grass. If you had any micro skill, those 4 Colossi can last a fairly long time if you use their ledge hopping ability, much more cost effective in the long run.

  • Crota, just to note if you didn't know: when a pylon is destroyed while warping in units their cost is refunded, but the warp gate will start it's cooldown.
