i love the bond films but, hate the books ian fleming is such a racist and mysogonist its difficult reading his works without being disgusted at his ignorance.
Ah, the innocent 60s In my humble opinion this is John Barry's pinnacle Bond achievement. It helped defuse cultural stereotypes between the east and the west.
ahh I remeber the days listening to this... just lazying and loving around on the bed with my girlfriend (soon wife) on a hot summers day, away from the world. Theres something real deep in music like this
YOLT had everything you would want from a Bond film and more!
a unforgettable title song, bond 'dies', excellent fight scenes, little nellie, bond gets 'married', blofeld finally reveals himself, grand finale in a volcano base. what more could you ask for?!!
@dixie60 Oh and the ninja's! YOLT has the claim of being the first mainstream film to bring Ninja's to the big screen and western world, these shadow warriors haven't looked cooler since! Pleasence is the uber Blofeld, the first and best. I thought Terry Savalas, playing a more physical ESB in OHMSS was also great. Funny how Bond didn't recognise him at first even if he had cut his earlobes off!!
a beautiful haunting melody from Nancy Sinatra , this is one of my fave bond themes and an abslolute classic. the instrumentals are fantastic and within the film itself esp at the mock wedding
Also blessed with an excellent theme tune. Did you know also the set inside the volcano was for years the most expensive film set made?
I quite like the silent bodyguard Hans and has fight with Bond where Bond appears to be losing only for Bond to defeat him with a neat tai otoshi into the piranha pond.
Anyone who says this film sucked should be made to sit through Diamonds are Forever non stop for a week. It was a brilliant film, Pleasance's Blofeld was completely sinister and ruthless, and the use of Japanese martial arts as a main part of the action was unique as these were still little known in the West.
From Russia With Love was fairly close to the novel and for all it lacked the gadgets and expensive sets of the later films, it was a good spy yarn. However, You Only Live Twice has some brilliant features: ninjas, martial arts, the volcano and was Connery's best Bond. Shame he blew it on that load of old tripe Diamonds Are Forever.
i hate it when people say this movie sucked. well it didnt, its my second favourite, had my favourite blofeld actor, connery=awesome, the movie is awesome, and it has the most climatic ending EVER!
power i think ur thinking of the robbie williams song "millenium" he uses this background for that song. and i agree... this song is beautiful. brings me back. kinda wanna watch some bond right now.

@Assasengirl True, True. We think of those ditzy pop songs she sang. Her range on this song is amazing. Wish she had done more worthy material.
