Kaoru isn't insane. He cares for his brother more than himself. If Hikaru loves Haruhi, then Kaoru would want to make Hikaru happy, even if he himself would be miserable. It's really quite sweet in my opinion. But yes, I agree, Kaoru and Hikaru should be together, as should Haruhi and Tamaki. <3

They only dye their hair for one episode during their fight, so they won't be mistaken for each other. And when they're little I guess it's just to match the dresses, it's wigs when they're children anywayz.

In the manga though Hikaru permanantly dyes his hair black towards the end...if your interested! lol.
