Heh, this is one sport I don't completely bomb at. If you're struggling to hit a special move back, try using my strategy.

Always build up your special gauge to match theirs, so whenever they use their special move, use yours on the same go so you won't have to try hitting a hard ball. I also build up my gauge by letting my opponent win a single point each round and receive a decent boost in the gauge.
