Yes I believe it to be one of the most difficult languages in the world. Especially having three noun markers (Der, Die and Das) compared to English with only "The" and a completely messed up way to conjugate verbs. Sadly even most native German-speakers fail to speak German properly and tons of very common grammar-flaws already found their way into media, even literature!!!

Absolutely. This is by the way the thing, most Germans themselves have trouble with. A German author once release a humerous book called "Der Dativ ist dem Genitiv sein Tod" (The title uses false grammar deliberately) which is about tricky German grammar and common mistakes we tend to make in our own language.

That's why I lift my hat to anyone who manages to learn German or at least tries.

I'm glad Germans have some sense of humor about their language! :) For five years I learned german in public school, and after the fourth year I thought I was actually getting the hang of it pretty well ...buuut during the fifth and last year, where even more advanced and strange stuff were introduced, it seemed like all that we had learned thus far was all just basic and useless, and not how real Germans would speak. Confidence killer! :D It has since all sadly been forgotten :P
