Respect to all. There is no need to trade insults here regards Bhai Uptej Singh and Nidar Singh setting a Sikh brother against Sikh brother. This only demeans Sikhi in the eyes of the world. Each is doing their bit, even though we may not agree with everything each does or says, for Sikhi in their own way. Both Shastar Vidiya and Gatka have their respective places in Sikh culture.
Yet it has to be conceded, though some of us may not like this bitter truth, Gatka and Shastar Vidiya are distinct. One is a battlefield science and the other a martial exhibitionist art. Niddar Singh is a proper martial artist unlike the girly prancing Upteg Singh. Fancy submitting like Uptej Singh did and then trying to attack your opponent after submission. I'm not surprised. Guru Granth Sahib ji does not condem the consumption of meat. You may not agree with me because of your lack of knowledge, or you may. But the quotes that condem meat in Guru Granth Sahib ji are of Bhagat Kabeer Ji who talks about the rituals, of the muslims, hindus etc.
Groups may have different views, but does the maryada come from any member of that group, or from Guru Granth Sahib ji?

Some groups may have different views of what Guru Granth Sahib ji, but in reality, there aren't two different messages, there is one. Therefore, there should be only one maryada.
One group may say meat is condemned, one may say who isn't? Who is right? It's the lack of knowledge that some groups have and aren't able to understand the message of Guru Granth Sahib ji, because again in reality there is only one answer, not two.

another thing to remember is that gatka may be good in a show or in a ring, but wen it comes down to the real thing, gatka aint gonna do nething, except maybe make your opponent think you're wierd because you start to dance when you get into a fight, lol.
This video is of such low quality. I've watched it dozens of times but it's too hard to see what the hell is going on. One thing that's obvious is that Uptej Singh tried to get fancy and was spinning which ended up getting him put in a choke hold. I think Niddar Singh would win in a "real" fight just because of his size and speed combination. When he rushed at Uptej Singh he actually looked like a better fighter but the quality is bad. Maybe Uptej made a few hits with lathi earlier on..?

I'm not surprised. Guru Granth Sahib ji does not condem the consumption of meat. You may not agree with me because of your lack of knowledge, or you may. But the quotes that condem meat in Guru Granth Sahib ji are of Bhagat Kabeer Ji who talks about the rituals, of the muslims, hindus etc.
Groups may have different views, but does the maryada come from any member of that group, or from Guru Granth Sahib ji?

Some groups may have different views of what Guru Granth Sahib ji, but in reality, there aren't two different messages, there is one. Therefore, there should be only one maryada.
One group may say meat is condemned, one may say who isn't? Who is right? It's the lack of knowledge that some groups have and aren't able to understand the message of Guru Granth Sahib ji, because again in reality there is only one answer, not two.

This video is of such low quality. I've watched it dozens of times but it's too hard to see what the hell is going on. One thing that's obvious is that Uptej Singh tried to get fancy and was spinning which ended up getting him put in a choke hold. I think Niddar Singh would win in a "real" fight just because of his size and speed combination. When he rushed at Uptej Singh he actually looked like a better fighter but the quality is bad. Maybe Uptej made a few hits with lathi earlier on..?
