  • How about consonants? Is it possible to learn to relax the digastic muscle with consonants as well as vowels? Or do you need it to produce consonants?

    Thanks for the useful info!

  • Is the point to completely rid myself of the tension or just to have less of it? I can't seem to get rid of all of it.

  • This helped a lot, thanks!

  • How would I actually know whether the resonance is up in the nasal cavity or at the mouth? As I tried the exercise Shelby did, the first note which was the higher note, I felt like a slight hitting from inside of the nose to outside but as I got lower, i feel everything is being pushed out the mouth o_o is it because I got closer to chest voice? Also I can't do it as squeaky as shelby does it. What could be the reason? Also, my digastric muscle does not tense up, am I doing it correctly?

  • hermosa mujer!

  • omg she is beautiful

  • @blobby135 oh god yesssss

  • @blobby135 shes aight

  • Exercise is very good and necessary but i disagree with that opinion about digastric muscle tension. Shelby said that if you're swallowing all day, this muscle WILL be strengthen, which will cause tension while you sing.

Think about martial arts masters. When they kick or punch, only muscles that are really needed are strengthen and not others. To develop your kick or punch al that you need is to do thousand of these actions. After that only needed muscles will be used, coz other are tired

  • @vazgenchikWOW if you listen more carefully, she doesn't say that the strengthening of the muscle causes tension..she said it's a matter of disengaging it (2:04-2:20)..think of it this way...a body builder might have massive biceps, but just because it's strong, doesn't mean it has to be tense...the muscle could be relaxed..same with the digastric muscle..you just wanna cause it to relax (it's natural to wanna use it when singing high notes) but you want to isolate it; take it out of the picture

  • the muscle wont become stronger by putting your thumb on the muscle. high pressure on the muscle will act to inhibit. to strengthen it, you'll have to resist the muscle's action (swallowing) which you can't do really in this case. same with your biceps, if you put direct pressure onto the muscle you'll inhibit its action. but this is dependent on how much pressure you apply, little tactile pressure will be for feedback for yourself which applies in this case i think
