Even though I loved Glenn Close as Norma, I must admit that what Andrew Lloyd Webber did to Patti Lupone was obscene, tacky, unforgivable, cruel and completely unprofessional. I mean, sure, Faye Dunaway's a sadistic psycho bitch, but Patti Lupone is a talented proffesional. There MUST have been a better (and more tasteful way) of settling the casting dilemma.

Her name was constantly in the papers saying that she was going to be fired and that she should be fired
ALW wouldn't grant her permission to perform the songs outside of performances but allowed Barbra Streisand to.
ALW fired Kevin Anderson and did not tell him.
ALW fired Patti and she found out by reading Liz Smith's gossip column.
before he fired her ALW said that Glenn was a better Norma.
RUG was using Patti's recordings without her permission or compensation
