We did have a big influence in music and dance that inspired today's different dance styles. I'm black and I love my color (when I get some sun I even get darker and I love it). I've traveled to many African and some Caribbean countries where I always have met & seen a lot of beautiful dark women.
Once I met a girl on my flight from Paris to NY (she and her cousin were both from Ghana). Her cousin was lighter skinned and lived in NY and the girl lived in French-Guyana. They happened to sit next to me for the 8 hour flight. And I really had a crush on her, she was very black and so energetic sweet looking, so full of energy with a gorgeous smile that I will never forget.
She was really beautiful and the fact that we really had a connection and were vibin' with each other like we had known each other even before made her in my eyes even more beautiful. Once I met a girl on my flight from Paris to NY (she and her cousin were both from Ghana). Her cousin was lighter skinned and lived in NY and the girl lived in French-Guyana. They happened to sit next to me for the 8 hour flight. And I really had a crush on her, she was very black and so energetic sweet looking, so full of energy with a gorgeous smile that I will never forget.

I think your really attractive and actually I agree with you that dark-skin women get a lot of crap and I don't see why because were all human to begin with and dark-skinned women are often more attractive in my opinion. I live in Sweden and my best friend comes from Africa and she gets to take many of these comments of "wow girl, you look good. for a dark chic". Well, where I come from, that's being a racist and a total nutter. It's called respect! All should be proud of their heritage.

In the work place, in the media in life, the closer to white you are, the world (and even ourselves as black people) view you as being better/ higher/ more acceptable. I completely agree with everything you said about being so preoccupied with skin tone but the sad thing is, it exists, perpetuated by our own people! However, I would be lying if I told you I didn't care myself but I wouldn't want to be darker because the fact is, I know I'd be 'uglier' by the world's standards.

Oh I so feel you on this! I grew up around both white and blacks and the blacks always made those same silly ass commits and my white friends always made me feel like I was beautiful because I was dark. I learned at young age that some of my people were just taught to think the way they do and it's lovely dark skin woman like us who prove that stereotype to be false.
