  • You clearly didn't go. VidCon was probably the most amazing convention ever.

  • @bandg4evr You clearly didn't watch the video. Either that or you're too fucking stupid to get the point. Either way, fuck off.

  • I never bumped into you before, you just happened to be related video-based from another vidcon video but I enjoyed this vlog, being discussion-oriented about the convention, at a time when it was still many months away.

I would have enjoyed seeing some of the non-big Youtubing panels, about copyright for example, and when you pay for something, you get a real organization behind it.

s thank you for being a non-dick, ha ha

    cheers

  • @princeword I do my best to not be a dick (except to dicks)

  • I like you're view on vidcon, two sides to every story :)

  • @RhotenXxX Most people don't have the brainpower to think things through

  • @AngryAussie But then again where would online community be without trolls and idiots eh ? @ "people don't have the brainpower to think things through" LOL

  • @RhotenXxX Sadly, I see them every day. But the good people far outweigh them.

  • Like the video, I really appriciate that you can pick out the pros and cons and compare them. I just have one question:

Did you go (sorry, haven't watched anny of your other videos, so I don't know) and if not, do you regret it?

  • @theXylinder I didn't have the time or money to go

  • cool accent bro!!

  • @ONEXON Thanks

  • Vidcon is a celebration of what we do... a group of YouTubers have decided to be proactive in organising a community event to share techniques, meet idols and hear success stories. If you don't like it... don't go. No need to pay it out.

"Angry Aussie" is your username and your telling us you don't want to be negative!

Next time you want to be critical of others and their actions don't use your nationality as part of your username. You reflect poorly on Australians everywhere.

  • @2kaleidoscopeeyes WATCH THE FUCKING VIDEO YOU STUPID FUCKING CUNT! Seriously, watch it you fucking moron! How fucking stupid are you exactly?

  • @AngryAussie Wow, this is my first time to your site.

If this is how you reply to people ..it is my last time.

  • @rdidri Fuck. Off. And. Die. You. Sad. Little. Loser. Piece. Of. Shit.

  • @AngryAussie Your command of the language is phenomenal. Have a nice life. Peace.

  • @rdidri I don't have time to give a fuck about precious little shrinking violets. Harden the fuck up or get the fuck out because I don't give a fuck about you.

  • I was just watching a few of those "negative for the sake of being negative" videos and I am so glad that you actually give some thought to things before you start talking about them. I noticed most of those other videos didn't research what VidCon was and who was behind it, they just saw it was a big youtube convention and jumped on the negatives.

This is why I love watching your vids, sir. Intelligent discourse.

  • @regularguy5mb I've seen that negative stuff so often I knew it was coming.

  • They're not making money off it. For fan-run conventions, you NEED money, you can't just have it be free unless you're really rich.

  • @lamarnza I don't have any problem with what they're doing

  • @AngryAussie Sorry, I realize that now. I was extremely tired and commented before watching it through (that's what I get going on YouTube at 2am)

  • @AngryAussie .. point1 Do you agree ...that it is not possible for an unknown you tuber to gather such BIG Names.. around their gathering ?

Didn't get your point no 2, can you please explain... I tried not to be judgmental, but I guess you cant have it both way ...

  • @lalkidar I hope this doesn't sound mean but who'd care if an unknown person wanted to organise a get together? Where's their credibility? What have they done to earn the right to have anyone pay attention to them? I organise small gathering in Melbourne quite regularly and encourage other people to do the same but for a large scale gathering you have to have something to offer people.

  • Sorry for the earlier post it took a while for youtube to show the comments in the section .....I spent almost 6+ hours reading though all the comments about the subject on your and other subject ... so I have to post a reply after reading through all the comments would love to hear your thoughts about my question ..May be a Vid response ...????

  • @jamk1001 For such a long comment it didn't seem to have a point.

  • @AngryAussie I tried to pose some Questions ..may be they were not clear ...Sorry I should have tried to be more to the point ...

  • (Part1) ..Is "Youtube Comminuty" only for ... "NOT BIG FAMOUS PEOPLE" aka youtubers with high number of viewers & subscribers ? ....1. So lets say if an unknown youtuber was to come up with the vidcon idea, then how easy do you think it would be for them to get the "NOT BIG FAMOUS PEOPLE" to join in and come to the event

...For most part its not humanly possible for these "NOT BIG FAMOUS PEOPLE" ... to read and reply all the comments on daily basis.....

  • (Part2 ).......2. Now lets ask another question ..... Say 2 brothers who are ....unimportant and unknown...who are as honest,..... charity oriented and transparent were to come up with a similar idea and were to approach hank and john ..just like the reached out to mischief management to help facilitate vidcon like gathering.... How much seriousness more importantly ....respect,.... they would have received from hank and john .. or any other youtubers with close to 100K subscribers ? ....

  • (Part3 )...3. How easy is it for a unknown youtuber with same idea to get attention of Google...Youtube ? So in the end it is all about community... or atleast we all like to think this way .... but isn't it true that ... There is an unfair advantage that Hank & John or for that matter any other "NOT BIG FAMOUS PEOPLE" may have over someone unknown with the same amount of integrity passion and desire to do something about the community ?... 20 seconds ago

  • (Part4) but of course we dont live in a fair world ...but are people as fair as they appear ?... I hope this will not considered as a negative comment but to open a fair comment to get open feedback from community and hank and john ?

  • I think you should probably change your username because the people who click onb your videos are probably looking for uninformed ranting, which you do not do, and the people who would like to watch your videos aren't watching them because they think you're a ranter. Just a suggestion. I think changing your username would make you get mor subscribers.

  • @SavingThePlanet4Ever

    Point 1: that isn't possible

Point 2: if I tailored everything to tiny minded people who made judgements based on a user name I'd never do anything of value.

Point 3: having said that, there is a large amount of truth in what you say. That's life.

  • @AngryAussie Fair enough.

  • @AngryAussie If I were you though, I'd make a new account and make a video asking your current subscribers to subbscribe to your new channel because people only have three things to go by when chosing videos and that is the thumbnail, the number of views and your username and I think that your name is probably seriously decreasing your views and subscriptions. Just my two cents worth.

  • They're playing you off, Mr. Angry!

  • @Tyjet88 So it seems

  • i was born in melbourne

  • @Miwixx lucky you

  • 2,010th viewer :DD

  • i'm probably gonna see if my dad will let us go to vid con this year hopefully

  • I think VidCon is probably going to have a good turnout! Wish I could go but it's across the country in LA and I live in VA and cannot afford to go.

  • ha 1337 views :D

  • Comment removed

  • I think that going to such a convention may help you increase your subscriber base.

If I had a large enough subscriber base, I would seriously consider attending, particularly if it was making me income.

  • The only way you can get so many in one place, is to have them pay to attend. If you only want to have a gathering, you will only get people from the local area, which is absolutely fine.

If there was such a gathering in Melbourne, I would be there.

  • I organise them all the time

  • message me about it when the time comes.

  • BTW I have created a facebook page for Melbourne youtubers recently, for that very purpose, to help publicise gatherings and get togethers and collaboration. Just go to facebook and search for Melbourne youtubers.

  • Possibly attending the vidcon thing will be a chance to get a reply from those who choose never to reply their tube mail.

And I laugh at the word community here..!

I assume once you get huge you let the videos do all the talking, and cut the audience off completely, thats a very brave move to do.

  • I don't think I understand your point. Community is what you make it.

  • im amased viacon havent sued them for the name

  • hahahaha only a matter of time

  • full time subscriber part time poster here....just wanted to wish yourself & the "angry clan" a merry christmas(a big up yours to the people who want to ban our stupid decorations & traditions lolz) & a happy new year champ! ho ho hoes! ;)

  • And a merry xmas to you and yours!

  • Dude get the fly repellant that goes on a carabeaner, and is small then attach your keys to it, it will totaly works. Or bathe your self in it befor you leave your house

  • Good tip

  • im in the us now. it is realy quite good. keep your eye on fligts with v australia i got return for $1300.

  • Lucky you

  • YOU'RE the only name *I* watch, however gauche that sounds. I was watching a few other people, but I've given up on them and watch only you.

My friend only ever did watch you. You're the sole person on YT he likes.

He tried others but didn't care for them.

Unlike me, he knows instantly whether he should stay or go.

I have to watch several videos before I figure it out.

  • That's nice to know :)

  • lol i think you have a fan... Anyway, about the vidcon... not sure i like the idea. I still feel youtube is a community so why pay to see people in our neighborhood? As far as the other conventions go, they are normally with major companies that you are not a part of. Everyone on youtube is a part of youtube. =D

  • AngryAussie why are you not angry

  • Variety is the spice of life

  • I CALL SHENANIGANS ON THAT BACKGROUND!

Also, damn it. Why is every good convention always impossibly out of reach?

Though, if this thing is in early April, then good,'cause I'm going to LA then.

  • I think it's July

  • Why isn't Mr. Safety a featured speaker? Doesn't he have a gazillion subscribers, ratings and views? Well, at least as many as DaveDays and certainly as many as LisaNova.

If it's focusing ONLY on big stars, then it's not a community project. A community project would be if they included the WHOLE community.

I won't ban it-I just won't go. Like I had any choice. I've been out of work for 2 months. It's not like I'm going somewhere for fun and games.

  • Maybe he didn't want to be

  • Lol, I've been up since 5:45 am (now 7:00 pm) and I shoveled driveways all day (on 3 hours of sleep) so I'm pretty tired. But when I first read the title for some reason I thought it said "Vicoden 2010 - good idea or bad idea?" not "vidcon" lol...

  • I think that means you need a break

  • That chior group would go well in The Espy. haha.

  • They perform, all over the place

  • thanks for a trip to fed square someday

i hope i could make it there

Any who's it what's it This is the type of vid i truly enjoy that you make Just a practical common sense opinion of stuff in general Alas, it your Summer, My winter now!

Stay cool there, best wish's to you and yours this holiday season !

When did the world succumb to many human beings losing the ability to genuinely care

about others and what they're saying?

P.S. Do a vid on how to throw and catch a boomerang FTW !

  • I don't know how to do that

  • gosh darnit, dagnabit, oh well now I know eh?

  • vidcon is a good idea its personally not for me mainly due to lack of the ability to get to america meh i say good luck to the people planning it

  • Yeah, I probably won't be able to get there either

  • Yeah, I know as well as you do that there will be fuck tards that will do their thing to destroy it. Unhappy ppl are only happy when they're spreading their malcontent to others...*sighs*

I'm an unhappy gumpy bastard, but I don't want others to be, and I sure as hell won't make it a point to spread my misery. Mainly because I'm lazy, and I'm not 100% dick

  • I agree, those losers will always be with us.

  • how much money do you make from youtube?

  • Not very much

  • I think a convention would just be a waste of time. It only exists because:

    a) Famous youtubers need more attention.

    b) Google needs more money.

  • Well, it's nothing to do with Google so it wouldn't hurt for you to think a little more

  • I thought this was an official company organized event? Either way though i'm still not going. If I don't go to the regular gatherings (as much as i'd like to) then I certainly won't be paying to go to a convention. I see enough of those famous youtubers on youtube.

  • It was organised by the youtubers themselves, through a company that does this kind of convention.

  • Ahh. Right. Thanks.

  • I'm with you on th VlogBrothers. Good guys.

Not so sure about the VidCon thing though.

I agree it's not really meant for me. I'm just not happy with people charging for a kind of private audience.

Still, i expect plenty of people will go, pay their money & enjoy themselves. Best of luck to them. Just don't expect me to turn up :)

  • Conventions work that way

  • Wait, does this mean you're going to make a video on christmas day? If so, best christmas ever.

  • Possibly

  • Nice... Hows your first Day of summer? My First day winter has been fine.

  • We mark summer at the start of December

  • O... Sorry Guess for us Winter Started in 2nd week of December. Damn it, I can't want to get another mac then I can start my Anger Rants. Windows is pissing me off. (Sorry for the rant)

  • good point aussie!

  • Cheers

  • I'll take "horrible idea" for 500.

  • That's your choice

  • Sexy sunnies =]

  • Thanks

  • My first reaction is "yuck." The idea of putting some of these people on stage to discuss how to be popular on YouTube seems funny, 'cause I think many of them have no idea how they got popular. Some are just popular 'cause they're young and cute. There are a couple who've just completely whored themselves. Not trying to tear it down or be negative, but that's my first reaction.

Maybe I'll go just to see what it's all about since it's only a few hours away.

  • These are the sorts of things that made me feel a little unsure of the concept too.

  • what happened at 1:53-ish looks like you got attacked by something :P,you sooo need one of those hats with the corks bro your always getting attacked by flies hahaha laters!x

  • It will be a cold day in hell before I wear one of those

  • Gyah - I couldn't watch this...

It took 15 minutes to load the first 40 seconds...

I'm sorry, but even one of your vids isn't worth 2hrs 40mins at 2:20am...

  • Something's wrong with your internet connection. Or maybe YouTube.

  • paying to go to youtube is horseshit, yeah lets charge even though we get 1 billion hits a day!

  • Try to get a clue

  • I just watched the video explanation for this effect and I'll admit that it does look like a green screen but I've never been to sure about it. It's pretty fucking trippy.

  • It sure is!

  • : )

  • They've got to book venues and all that stuff related to Vidcon, they'd need to pay for that somehow.

I think Vidcon's a good thing, not just community building, but it sounds like it's actually trying to develop the community and help people learn and whatever.

  • It sounds like a good idea to me

  • What do you mean, big names?

My friend thinks that professional people placing their videos next to amateurs isn't fair to the amateurs, b/c their view count will always be dwarfed by the professionals.

He's talking about people who've established themselves through mediums other than YT.

He probably commented, b/c I was whining about my low view count.

He asked me how I expect to get a large view count when my work is competing with professional filmmakers.

IDK but I still want to do videos.

  • Look at the video I linked to and you'll find out

  • I think over all the project is a good idea, as you say it's not for everyone. A convenstion centre hire costs money, and I belive when they say they will give any profits to charity. As you say it's more than a meet and greet.

  • People need to understand what's actually going on

  • I dont no, i think is a good idea! cheers Mike =D

  • Cheers

  • Not putting this in a nasty way because im aiming at compliment.

1 reason i think you're not a "big name" on youtube is because some people just cant handle you or your views on matters and personally thats sad.. people need to broaden their horizons and wise up a bit because really people today are too...- fuck it.. when we meet up next year we have to do another stream of consciousness video because i got some shit to say.. especially about political correctness and other shit like that mate!

  • Sounds like fun!

  • It really does come down to money really. It is so much easier for Americans and Canadians to attend being on the same continent, it is much cheaper for them to go. Even if they don't have a good time, they haven't wasted that much money. But on a very practicle geographical level, it really weighs against anyone not wealthy in Australia going. Best wishes to our American friends that can go, but they should understand our apologies that most of us just can't afford the plane fare being so far.

  • It terms of volume of population, that's just the way things work

  • Interesting thoughts. Thanks for sharing the info about Vidcon....I've heard the odd person here or there mention they might be going but didn't know who was organising it etc. I have not subbed to the vlog bros... in fact I know really nothing about them. I might have to check them out one day.

  • They are worth checking out

  • God, international YouTubers who have booked tickets for ComicCon might cry if they can't change their airline bookings or cry in the good way if they've allowed some time to travel before/after ComicCon, depending on when in July this thing might be. If it's on at the same time (unlikely I think) they would all cry in the bad sense.

  • If someone's going to cry about this they need a life

  • It's an interesting idea however it's heavily flawed, the pricing being $40 per day to attend which is pretty much $120 on top all other expenses its WAYYYY too expensive, if the Vlogbrothers want to make this succeed they need to have corporate sponsorship to lower price of admission which they currently lack.

Access to the convention is going to be a nightmare to for out of towners as there's only the small bus stop on busy routes that stop there.

They've got some work ahead of them

  • Have you ever been to ComicCOn or a sci-fi con? These things cost money.

  • I've been to Supernova and that one only cost around $20 per day, and that was because it had all those sponsors supporting it

  • I was considering traveling to VidCon...

I agree that it seems worrisome that it cost money, but it also costs money to organize an event like this...admittedly, it wouldn't cost as much as they're going to make subsequently, but, well, it's Hank and John, so I'm relatively confident the money is going to a good place...

Should we organize some sort of Melbourne link-up? I recon we could talk Fed Square into giving us the big screen...

  • That is worth considering

  • Comment removed

  • Hi Andrew. I meet John Green at a nerdfighter meet here in Melbourne. Nice guy.

  • So everyone says

  • I know, you have a plan to travel to another country this year :)))

  • Yes, and I want to stick to that plan

  • 3:48 hahahahahha

silly asian wearing his backpack on the wrong way... lol..

  • It's probably practical

  • what microphone do you use?

  • This one uses a Sony lapel mic

  • An error has occured, i will try again later

  • You do that

  • I think it's okay to charge if you're gonna gain something.

since at the convention the big youtubers are gonna teach you how to make good videos and promote them successfully I think people will gain a lot of handy knowledge which will be worth their money. Also the vlog brothers have tried to make it as cheap as possible, and all extra money is going to charity I believe - So I'm okay with the charge.

-I shan't attend though since the flight from NZ to the USA is rather expensive :D

  • The expense of travel will probably keep me away too

  • Ahhh, crappy quality, I'll come back when youtube is done properly processing it :)

  • It sometimes takes a while

  • random question angry, how is the camera being held in the video? are you holding it, someone else or are you using a rig of some sort?

  • It's on the end of a monopod - I've shown how I do it before

  • vaiski121,owminator dont star insulting angry aussie becuz ur gonna loose

  • They're not aiming anything at me

  • They are insulting me! It;s just that their comments are appearing in the wrong spot. I was being a troll.

  • I can understand how travel costs would prohibit most people from going but I think it is a good start but that is same with many international gatherings. Youtube has many successful local gatherings but I think it is time there is a major international one. My only issue is Youtubers having to buy tickets but then again these things cost money to set up so a cost is probably needed. If I am free I'd love to go. So yes I think it is a great idea if it can be organised well.

  • I think it will be interesting.

  • I'm not sure if you actually are or not bur have you superimposed yourself into this video? Could just be that it hasn't finished processing and is still poor quality.

  • I'm doing my walk with a monopod trick

  • Oh lol I'm not sure why put it was really throwing me off...

  • I'd like to go, but I don't think it's gonna happen. =P Too expensive. But I think it'll be a good event.

As far as charging goes, once they've made back costs, any profits are going to charity. =)

  • It all makes sense to me

  • First COMMENT!!!1!!111!

  • @Wowedby09

    your gay

  • Wow, nice! You're so good with your sexual orientation jokes! Where did you come up with it? Is that what your mum says to you?

  • You fucking idiot...

  • Andrew... back me up here! I was being mildly sarcastic!

  • You're on your own doing stuff like that ;)

  • Yes, this is a channel with intelligent people who don't see kindly to mind numbingly stupid comments.

@Owminator ...not what your mum says.

@vaiski121 ...if by idiot you are implying I am a genius... why, thank you!

  • @Wowedby09

hmmm... thats what i usually tell people who are trying to annoy the fuck out of me... even if they fail.

  • @Owminator ...ahh that comment is about 4 days late. I think you should have moved on, I meant it as a joke, fully knowing that Angry Aussie has subscribers whom don't take kindly to dumb as shit comments.

  • @Wowedby09

Well, guess this pointless discussion is over then. Also, christmas is a busy time am i right?

  • I gave your comment a thumbs up for creativity! :)
