  • I love Patties! I make them all the time and in my opinion the dough turns out better if you use margarine instead of butter. And not melted! I chill my margarine and shortening before mixing. I also use a food processor to make the dough and they turn out perfect every time!

  • I love beef patties use to eat them all the time in Toronto..here in MA have to buy the frozen kind ..not the same

  • Good for you. I am Jamaican and never even thought of making patties, you may have inspired me. Hubby is cute too.

  • I think instead of baking in the oven they are suppose to be fried on the stove. I just tried baking some last night. The meat was perrfect.I had problem with the dough-pastry texture too?

  • @balibabi Traditionally patties are baked. I have seen a few ppl frying them, but usually are ppl without access to an oven.

  • Damn give me some dat pattie !!

  • Are you Jamaican?

  • and those are pure Jamaican Resturants with Jamaican born owners and operators so Enjoy!!!!

  • They do actually have many places where they sell Jamaican Beef Patties in Michigan... Sams Club, Caribbean Citchen, the Tropical Hut, And Rono's (All restaurants in Detroit, with the exception of Sam's being nation wide) but yea my parents are Jamaican and used to take me to those places alot.

  • your husband is quite a sight :] lol jkjk them patties look yummy

  • They were pretty good. I will be trying again real soon!

  • Girl how did those things turn out?

  • They were... THE BOMB! The dough was a little dry, but we expected that!

  • Irie Mon - we don't say that. That's just stereotypical commercial tourist-ish bull...

From looking at the shapes of the patty, the dough should have been thinner and you should have used a fork neatly around the edges.

  • Yeah, I am Jamaican, so I now it's just a "tourist-y" thing! lol YES.. the dough was a little to thick and dry, but I know for next time, but the meat was right on point. I did use a fork to seal it, but my hubby is better at making it more uniform that I am! lol

  • mmmm, yum. :op

  • LOL!

  • Looks great ! I use epanada wrappers ready made and in the freezer section. You can find them at Latin stores I just rub with a bit of curry spice and they are really good. I miss those patties too!

  • THAT'S THE MESSED UP PART... I can't even get epanada dough here in Michigan - no REAL latino markets! ugh!!! It would have been so much easier if I had epanada! lol

  • hahaha we dont say irie mon haha. girl you crack me up!

  • LOL. I know. I am Jamaican also, but I was feeling... IRIE! LMAO!!!

  • when i used to live Ny i used to buy jamaican beef patties all the time, they're so good, i love the spicy ones!

  • Stop the madness - - as a BORN JAMAICAN, I'm all over this. thanks Ms and Mr. Str8isis...LOL

  • LMAO!!! You are more than welcome! Let me know if you try it! ;)

  • I love these! i had these many moons ago at this small family owned restaurant here in houston. it's still open, I think I'll stop by there this weekend. i would try to make them myself but it's hard finding the motivation to cook for one person.

  • Yeah, this recipe makes enough for at least 5 people and I would hate to have you eat them all in one sitting because they were THAT good! lol

  • It always feels great to blame it on the hubby LMBO!!!!

  • It's usually his fault anyway! LOL LOL ;)

  • No Beef Patties in Michigan.....that a crime!

You need to come to T.O....so many different kinds down here.

You have to eat it with Coco Bread and wash it down with a Cola Champagne.

  • Ain't THAT the truth!

That is the way my dad eats them. He loves the Cola Champagne!
