@emptybliss2 Its not the bands fault at all... one of the guitars is way to hot in the mix going to the soundboard and keyboard is not nearly loud enough... the guitar is burying everything... the person running sound does not know what hes doing... and alot of people would argue with me on that because of big the event is! its easy to become deaf to certian things especially when running big events like this.. plain and simple the guitar is too hot (loud) in the mix.. burying everything almost

One of my biggest aggrevations when playing live with my band... is getting the sound right.. because just that can turn people off if its not right or you have the overall EQ of the band screwed up... yea I'm very anal about sound

Well i saw them live last summer and they kicked ass, Simone hitted almost all the notes perfectly, Wacken wasn't her best concert, i think she was really nervous too, and why not, this was one of their biggest gigs ever.

I'm not sure Simone is the best. Technique wise Floor Jansen and Tarja are much better. Anette Olzon too. Anette has a fantastically trained voice.

But Simone is still vastly superior to most singers :)

I said TECHNIQUE wise. Simone is my favorite. Floor has mastered her technique. Tarja is still amazing. But Anette has vast control of her voice.

I don't know any one female vocalist who can belt better then Anette.

live from what i heard anette was really shaky. granted that was the tour with sonata where they had a lot of problems, but her vocals were weak and not on rhythm over half the time. i'm still hoping she'll be better next time though.

that and simone is really young, isn't she? maybe she'll develop and become more mature in technique... i know her vocal coach comes with her

I've yet to see a live performance of Anette where she was shaky. She's always a pretty good control of her voice.

Don't get me wrong, Simone has improved VASTLY. She has been learning and is definitely an AMAZING singer :)

comparing? floor can eat them all. she is the best, i'm objective. tarja is also very, very good, but still, floor is excellent: vocal range, technique and flexibility. tarja is great, but there's a lack of power when she sings parts that are not operatic. anette is amazing. with her warm voice, she has her own style. simone is pretty. that's all. she is very bad live. she always says that she is sick when she fails, always. well, tarja was sick on end of an era. but, have you seen that dvd? o.O

Are and not Are you cant decide who is better and whos not...Within Temptation are better than Epica when it comes to stage performace and using lights etc...but Epica is more close to each other and their songs variates more if you listened to the Hearth Of Everything you should know that all songs sounds the same and Epica do less commercial..plus Simone is a better vocalist no mater how much u love sharon just check out Ombra Mai Fu Simone do sing classical there in high level!

Yeah, I do seem to prefer those type of voices. it's weird, Kari is that exception because on the 3rd and the mortal's album's first album she sang in an operatic way. I do like Floor Jansen's voice a lot though when it comes to that style but I have to say her "rock/natural" voice sounds better for me.

Both Anneke and Kari have powerful voices; they just don't emphasize on it much. If you just listen to 'The Mirror Waters', then you'd know that Anneke possesses a powerful voice. The same applies with Kari, especially in 'Leaving'. It's a shame she's so underrated!
