I use to own one mouse that cannibalized another. It is a natural occurrence for mice (and rats) to cannibalize each other, usually after one of them dies of other reasons like disease or starvation. Obviously the box is not as nutritious as the cereal...

If you listen to scientists talk about their experiments involving mice, they seem completely detached from that fact that it's a living thing that's fairly intelligent. At the same time, I wouldn't get all PETA about it... that's just how it is. They're very convenient for these sorts of experiments. Also don't forget that we kill mice all the time with poison and traps. So yeah, it's not really a big deal.

What he didn't say, but has said other times, was that afterward they fed "Killer" to Jamie's snake. Which was probably the other mice's fate as well. These kind of mice do not occur in nature and are bred for science experiments and for feeding to pets. That is their purpose in life, and they would not exist otherwise. Things that are a bit dark and sad can also be funny, and there is nothing wrong with seeing the humor in a bad situation.
