  • I used to wacth this all time on pbs before the stupid "thomas and friends version" ever existed I miss wacthing this old classic

  • i always thought it was a really sweet touch to show the 'shining time' sign as the very last thing you see after the credits roll...shows nowadays don't do small special things like that anymore

  • Born in 1991 and this show got 2 me cuz i love trains so much and i still do til this day. me and my dad used 2 sit at the platform train station and watch the train pull in and leave the station. thank u shining time station =')

  • My God. I'm 19 and I just caught the tail-end of this show on PBS back in the mid-late 90's. The Thomas the Tank Engine segements were fun, and the bits with the kids, Mr. Conductor, Stacey, Schemer and Mr. Twofeathers were goofy but magical. Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, the Sharie Lewis programs, this... Where does the time go???

  • This part always made me sad

  • 90s!! born in 83. I used to watch this show just so I wouldn't miss this end theme. seemed like the drama goin on in the show was too grown for me to handle

  • i fucking miss this show soooo much

  • Look at all that pollution...

  • brings me back way back i watch with my mom

  • @darthfriend1203, I have to agree with you because I too miss this show so much, and other old PBS shows too, like, Once Upon A Time, Zoobliee Zoo, Star Lore, I-sland Treasure, Storylords, Square One TV, Storytime, The Puzzle Place, The Letter People, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego, Reading Rainbow. These Old PBS Shows are always in my heart (and mind) Forever and ever, along with my Favorite cartoon shows, Charicters, my Favorite 90's Shows, My Favorite PR Villian Ransik, ect, ect.

  • :(|

  • I was born in 1991.. I still have my Gordon metal train... I held on to that train until I stopped playing with it.. I STILL HAVE IT today!! Brings back my whole childhood!! Makes you go into a daze and bring up pictures in your head of sitting in front of the TV as a child.. I wish I could close my eyes and re-live that moment for just one more time.. I feel sad, but its a good sad for some strange reason... I MISS THE 90S, and Shining Time Station.. CMG

  • @DisturbanceCMG 1993 i was born in 1993 and i used to watch this.

  • @Eugealrules Thats cool.. This was my show!!!

  • @DisturbanceCMG everytime my brother Taz and my cousin Nessa go to school it's just me and my mom watching this.

  • @FedexCamry11 How true!

  • The stock footage is from Pentrex's Production "Union Pacific Trilogy," and this was the final scene in the part of that pack known as "Eighty-Four-Forty-Four." I can't believe that I still remember that from so long ago.

  • Why is this song so magical D=

  • I remember this show would calm us down for a nap. I don't remember ever making it through an entire episode.

  • I like the smoothing song and I still like thomas the tank engine even if it 4 babies

  • OMG, THIS IS THE SHOW THEY AIRED IN PBS KIDS, it was like 1995 I think. Cause I remember a Thomas and the Tank show that was aired like this, and I only remembered the images in the credits

  • We have left Shining Time Station for one last time, but with it we take priceless childhood memories :'(

  • I miss this show

  • Me too.

  • man digimon came out in 1999 so gtf whoever saying that lol cuz i was in 3rd grade when it came out

  • Now I think im gonna cry. Pretty much my Childhood in a whole.

  • i used to get sad whenever i saw the "your leaving shining time" sign with the last few seconds of the music fading off

  • @KatrahQuey87 i dont wanna go.........

  • ;( i wish i can go back in time to wacth this

  • This show needs a DVD release!!!!

  • Shining Time Station, Digimon, Sailor Moon, The Simpsons, The X-Files...

    Man, the 90's were awesome

  • @PaulieRomanov wrong digimon came out in 2000 stupid ass

  • @Eugealrules Actually, Digimon came out around 1998-1999. The movie and third season came out around 2000.

So, you are the stupid ass.

  • @PaulieRomanov uh wrong go ask my brother because we were in the year of 2000 not the 90's i don't know where u get that from digimon came out in the 1990's enhhh 2000 2001

  • @Eugealrules I was there too, Digimon came out in 1999. At the end of the 90's, true, but still in 1990's. It was at it's most popular around 2000-2001, but it came out at the end of the 1990's, around late 1998-early 1999.

I was there. I probably know more about Classic Digimon(Seasons 1-3, 1999-2001) then you will ever know.

Besides, do I really want to argue with a stupid idiot who can't even spell right or use basic grammar?

  • oh man so many memories

  • I droped so many tears, so many memories...I think the engine was a Challenger, not so sure though.

  • I just love the cinematography - the helicopter shot of a steam locomotive riding into the sunset - a perfect ending for a perfect show!

  • Nostalgia!

  • the world's changed

  • 0:58 - I don't wanna go!!! :'(

  • Brings a tear to my eye... god I miss those good old days..

  • at first i thought geogre sang this

  • @BSBINC1 To me at first I mistakenly thought Country singer John Michael Montgomery sang this.

  • Hands down one of, if not the best and most memorable ending theme song in television history!!!!!!!!!!! I don't remember much about this show, but I think I'll always remember this song <3<3<3 : )

    GOD I MISS THE 90'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up if you agree : )

  • *Sniff*

One of a few songs played at the end of all things.

  • Brings me back to the 90s,when this would come on before Lamb Chop's Play Along. Nostalgia's the best thing ever.

  • Dams classic PBS right here; 90's FOR LIFE !!!!

  • I remember this song. I think the song combined with sunset at the end is very beautiful and it makes me cry. I was born in 1991 so remember watching this show when I was little. The shows the kids have today is BS. God I miss the 90's.

  • Thomas got 3 noobs he need to run over

  • miss this

  • 0:56 I wanna go back to Shining Time Station :*(

  • I REMEMBER THIS! The only thing I remember about the show was THIS SONG!

  • Footage of 8444 is from a film documentry called "Eighty Four Fourty Four" not availible to the public but can be watched at UP museum in Omaha or Cheyenne.

  • 3 ppl need to get hit by a train for dislikin this....loved this show!!!

  • This was my favorite show when I was little (3-5), after I got done watching I'd always go out side and watch for trains that came into town. However in 1995 Union Pacific closed our line, now it's just a bike path.

  • Haha I never watched that show.

  • i lost..

  • The Times Are Changing and now It seems tha Magic is gone. Now That Thomas is In CGI Format,Its really bringing a tear to my eye as My childhood has become a sad past that's behind me and listening to this song just breaks me down.Sad to see the glory days fade to black as Growing Up is very difficult to take in. :'(

  • @StanKingston420 Amen to that.

  • When I was a kid, I used to sing along to this song.

  • This a great song, and I remember this show very clearly from my childhood. I was born during the time it ended, but PBS had reruns so I could still watch it at the time, Schemer was always my favorite character for how wacky and silly he was.

  • I still love this damn song!

  • What happened to this innocent show, now theres this I carly BS, this is a classic and true image of what children shows need today, is is a great example of children television.

  • That is one beautiful locomotive. I love the 844(4), there is just something about it pulling those armor yellow coaches.

  • Oh god, I'm gonna cry... i want my childhood back! and my 90s, when the best shows were made.. not some BS that kids watch now.

  • @tripleredx I know arggg...I was born in 1990 so I grew up during that golden age, mostly through 2002. Now I see the utter SHIT kids of the next gen have to grow up with. I was blessed to have shows like Shining Time in my childhood, instead of this Chowder and Camp Lazlo mindless crap.

If you loved the 90's, watch this for a nostalgia trip:

  • I miss Shining Time Stations.I was the only show which both my little brother & I loved as kids.

  • There's something magical about a train going off into the sunset....

  • i was born JUST after season 4 of thomas and the end of shining time. it's still good. ive also met UP 844(4) in person.

  • Is there a full song for this? I would love to hear it.

    Good childhood memories.

  • i finally found my favorite theme song and all i had to do is look at reading rainbow!...wow what memories

  • I finally found it, after all these years.

    My childhood.

  • 5/5

  • miss this show so much pure nostagia for me.... and RIP george carlin you were one hell of a mr conductor and one legendary comedian

  • Classic show

  • Now I want to hear James Taylor sing this song!! the original is good too..

  • who sings the song?

  • @cowboyzsuk81 kevin roth does

  • *sigh* ... growing up sucks...

  • yeah it does

  • @BadRonald69 tell me about it

  • @BadRonald69

  • @BadRonald69 i agree man i missed too much during my childhood

  • @BadRonald69 yes very true glad someone thinks like me

  • You are now leaving Shining Time Station...

...But I don't want to go

  • @PaulieRomanov Amen.

  • does anyone know where the instrumental to this is? i heard there was one.

  • Anybody remember Digimon? This and Digimon were my two favorite shows when I was a kid.

  • Digimon's theme was catchy and the show was a bit good, but STS beat it out by a good few yards.

  • True

  • nothing gets more nostalgic than this. almost brings a tear to my eye. shining time and thomas the tank engine were my life when i was little. now im in college lol. things like this remind me how great and carefree my childhood was.

  • I'm with you girl, I'm 24, this was my show, also with MMPR (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), and also Kidsongs, I remember Raven Symone, appeared on that show, with her first single "Hip Hop Teddy Bear", man those were the good old days, I would give to relive those times in my life. So seeing things like this would remind me how wonderful my childhood was...

  • amen, brother...amen...

  • this just brings back a lot of great memories from my childhood.a time well past and I wish I could relive again sometimes.i used to watch this as a child and loved it and the theme song which now like the rest of you know why.its a beautiful song!!!

  • "You're leaving Shining Time, come back soon"

    =(

  • That sign was obviously my cue to run out of the room, because it was when that creepy PBS Split Profile logo was about to come on.

  • i know, aint that a sad sight?

first thing you're thinking is "But I don't wanna go!"

  • do any of u have a link or any idea where i can get this theme song cuz i really luv it sounds to smoothin

  • Ares 2.1.0.3031

    LimeWire,

or if you download realplayer, you can pull it right off the site.

  • I Loved to watch this when i was a little kid...never knew that the train at the begining was 844 or 8444 back then

  • I was very young when this show was on. I was born in 1990. For years I have held on to a memory of my favorite part of the show (when I was 4 or 5) being the end credits. Now I remember why. Great song!

  • I miss the 90's and this show!

  • the 3 transportaion shows shining time station now known and thomes and friends land, theodore the tugbout sea, and jay jay the jet plane air, if you've seen all 3 u know what i mean

  • I love this classic theme song, sung by Kevin Roth...and I loved the show. Of course. But this song is just gorgeous.

  • brings back happy memories as well as the risks of lead paint poisoning me and my cousin could have gotten from putting those die cast trains in our mouths. goes to show you how great and care free the 90s (AKA the Pre-9/11 era) were.

  • i always loved this theme song! kind of soothing, really.

  • Love this show so much!

  • I wish we could go back to the 90's when life was simple!

  • the 90's were heaven..

  • @XMilleniumProd

    Yes they were :)

  • @ghostbusters1986, as the old saying goes, "only a person can dream".

  • @ghostbusters1986 i know

  • Yeah well i wish that i was the one filming #844 for the intro, and outro.

  • @ghostbusters1986 You and me both...life was freaking amazing and we didn't even know it...sighh

  • @ghostbusters1986 I agree 110 percent!!! I still live this show! and I'm 16!

  • @ghostbusters1986, I wish i had a time machine so i can take my two nieces back in time (the 90's of course), just so they can see all the old PBS shows, like i have seen before them.

  • @ghostbusters1986 same here long live shining time station

  • @ghostbusters1986 if you ever find a way take me with you

  • I love this show. I never knew that Ringo Starr played the Conductor in the first season.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this one. This brings back so many memories of my childhood...it was an awesome show, until they started to redo EVERY GOOD SHOW from the 90's, AND RUINED IT.

I was a Thomas fanatic growing up...I had all of the trains in die cast metal, all the tapes of the episodes...why can't we go back to those simpler times?

  • I still have the die cast metal trains believe it or not. They're on display in my room.

  • I just got around to packing mine away...needed the room for a bookshelf. Until they find a new place to be displayed, I'm gonna have to keep them safely wrapped in newspaper in the storage closet...but i really miss them being out.

  • thats good, keep the memory alive :)

  • Words really cant express how nostalgic i feel for this show. These are some of the most beautiful memories I have, watching this show. I have almost every die cast train still too! I agree, such a simple and innocent, beautiful time. Really brings a tear to my eye seeing this, I havent seen it for probably over 15 years.

  • i wanna cry

  • I'm the envy of my friends because i got this on my mp3 player :D

  • For God's sake, look at all that smog!

  • shut your mouth, no one is paying attention to that

  • I love this song....I wonder if I still remember the engines...

Thomas, James, Henry, Gordon, Percy, Edward......nah I can't remember them all

  • When I think of Thomas the Tank Engine, this is all that I see.

  • Yeah.. The new shows are just not that good. Shining time station had soul, it was the only show I watched when I was a kid. I hadnt heard this awesome song in 15 years! Also why didnt I ever notice George Carlin was the conductor??

  • Glad you uploaded this. This really takes me back to the 90s. I love Shining Time Station, always will. I think TV shows today have really gone south from what shows such as this one were. I mean, Shining Time Station taught us so many wonderful things, and it introduced the US to Thomas the tank engine. I probably wouldn't be a Thomas fan had I not seen this show.

  • AGREE!! I mean this is awesome and I loved that they did an episode that said that too much tv is bad for you. No show now does that type of episode lol!

  • Ahh good ole' number 844. Highballing it and kickin' a**!

  • man this takes me back waking up early in the morning just to catch this show before i left for school...no wonder why i was always so damn happy at 8am at school lol...but for such a happy children's show..it had such an emotional theme....the 90's there will never be another

  • I wonder if it ever won a daytime emmy?.

  • Amen. Amen.

  • who's the singer?

  • Kevin Roth

  • Does the second verse of this make anyone else want to cry? I always tear up when I hear it.

  • your not alone there

  • Amen to that.

  • Indeed

  • they need to make like a SHINING TIME STATION: the movie. i always used to cry when the end song would come on.

  • If only Carlin didn't die. For years I never really knew that was him, but I kinda figured it had to be.

  • sang the song man!

  • check out my page dedicated to everything 80s and 90s

  • I wish PBS would put the reruns on. I'd love to relive this part of my childhood.

  • you and me both. Id pay a lot of money to have all the episodes on DVD. The 90's were the best.

  • Yeah, then we could all watch it on HD.

  • I miss this show and song!!!! Man, it brings back so many memories!

  • I wonder what exursion the 844 was pulling in the backround there (ok she was called 8444 at that time).

  • It plays in Stereo..I can hear it through both sides of my headphones.

  • goddness, why did I have to grow up?

  • I wish they showed good shows like this agin

  • Kevin Roth sure can sing :3

  • Too bad he doesn't show up in the credits here or in Season 3.

  • i wish i ahd seen pbs kids shows in the 80's and 90's

  • I get chills now when I hear this song. I loved this show when I was growing up.

  • Ah those days! I dont know what the hell to make of it now...

  • GOD I MISS THIS.

  • pbs at four season .

shining time station 4 in to
