im not familiar with the camera you are using but doesn't it have a line in for an ext mic? This would eliminate the need for a clapper as the Zoom H4n has a line out port for monitoring/video cameras.
Impressive design, I've had trouble putting one of these together. I highly recommend looking into the Cam Caddie Scorpion. $38 was well worth it for the great success I've had capturing very smooth shots.
This is great. I took some of the basic concepts you used here, but modified the design when I built my own, to offer more of an offset mount for the camera, to make looking into the viewfinder a bit easier.
Looks like an awesome rig. I have been wondering about shoulder rigs in general though. Without a counterbalance, do they actually do anything? As far as I can tell the point of a shoulder rig is to get the weight off your hands and onto your shoulder, but it seems like, without a counterbalance, you are still going to be almost entirely supporting the rig with your hands.
I don't understand how you connect the clips to the tripod plate for the camera to mount.
Can you explain how those bolts are holding the clips in the plate without a nut on the other side which would make the part touching the camera not flat?
Hi there, love the rig. Can you give any more detail as to the double snap in pipe clips. A brand name or product name? A link to a hardware store. They seem perfect for the job, it's just I haven't come across them yet.
Hey their fantastic rig i must say, very smart how it fits on the tripod. I didnt see how the baseplate works and also did not see what attachment your used to hold the rods together ... Can you put another vid up to explain if possible

Maybe I'm just stupid. Can someone clarify?

Great rig! I''ll be taking a lot of your ideas for my setup because the redrock Mirco rigs are EXPENSIVE.
