@IanCanefire I would suggest to look into the RS7000. Better cheaper and super flexible as a sequencer. It has 2 midi outs, which is a great thing. I use the second midi out to send start/stop messages to my MC808. I do not like the roland sequencers because they do not let you do enough realtime while recording modifications. Roland grooveboxes and workstations cannot compare to the yamaha paradigm.
I am still searching for the ultimate midi sequencer. So far it seems like the Akai MPC 4000 is the easiest and it has the most midi ports. Does anyone know of an even better hardware sequencer? I like the one on the Roland fantom S/X as well.
You are awesome. While I have a RS7000, I always wanted to tell you that you helped get me started. Keep making videos. Keep rockin it however which way you please.
Excellent job, I enjoy our tutorials, they are awesome to a person "jump started" with the RM1x. Before your Instructions, I was about ready to get rid of my unit, but I stumbled on your Sessions, and now I am ready to really get going. Thanks.
I have an RM1X, but I tried to sync it to a KP3 Kaoss Pad and now when I turn it off and on, the track 1 always reverts to the Grand Piano. I read the manual, but can't find anything that explains it. Need some help.
@digitaljosh i may have a solution to ur midi question on how to sync two devices and have each do its own thing, i tried it with my yamaha djx box 2 and my rm1x. i hooked both of em up djx box in to rm1x out and i didnt set up midi sync on tha djx box. this aloud me to control the djx with the rm1x and the djx was still able to do its own thing on its on
yo i use fl studios via usb midi controller and i wanted to hook my rm1x up to tha controller via midi, but i wanted the rm1x to be using its own sounds and the controller to use tha fl studio sounds. help?
"MIDI is about reading the manual" Too true! You'd think after almost 30 yrs of MIDI they'd do an update so you didn't need to read manuals to hook things up.
Dope. I just got a rm1x a couple of days ago. I'll be using it as a sequencer for my asrx. I'm about to print out the manual but trust me, I'll be asking you a LOT of questions. lol
Where can the beginners go because I don't have all this fancy stuff that you have. I just have one synthesizer workstation and computer, but I tried midi once and it recorded successfully but then after that when I turned my computer back on all my instruments were all piano on every track I gave up.............
hey PAYBACKiszaB2, the reason why it plays back on piano is because the instruments you used to play the midi notes is derived from your synthesizer, wen you reopen your software after turning off your synthesizer, it plays the recorded notes under it's default instrument, the piano. i don't really know how to keep the instruments in it's place so i just write down what instruments i used and where, until i bounce the track after its all done.
On The Rolands you can NOT change the midi channels. If you don't want the midi channel to be sent then you have to edit Seq Out in the part parameters. Korg knows what they're doing with MIDI settings, but I LOVE that Roland sound.
lol i can tell but yeah seriously! the manual is included in the box from a brand new gear for a reason..READ THE MANUAL!! and "BAM!" now you know how to properly use the equipment to its full potential=] good job josh! hope to see more of your mixes

Try the manual of the program you have, and try forums. There are not too many videos out there.
