hey i just bought the SFIV MadCatz edition for KOF13, and its a square plate, I was just wondering which would u recommend a octagon GT-Y or a GT-C round one to play KOF 13? cuz the square one just wont do

So is the Octagon Gate just much better in general than the square gate? I've just recently got my Round 2 SF4 TE Stick and i'm wondering if I should just go ahead and plant an Octagon gate in there now to save the trouble and frustration of doing the Special Motions (QC's and DP's)

@Kutan I just got my SFiV R2 TE stick also. I tested it out and it's hard to perform a shuryuken o.O. I went ahead and bought both octagon and circular gate. My friends uses the octagon gate.. so much easier to do the shuryuken.

@shawnster44 Although in some games, such as Street Fighter oddly enough, it can be easier to use the square gate due to the SRK Shortcuts. Unfortunately I play a lot of Blazblue and Marvel vs Capcom 3 too, so unfortunately, I cannot get away with shortcuts on those. I can also imagine 360s being very hard on a Square gate. =P

@harmony01981 just like it says, square has four corners on the top right and left and bottom right and left. Octagon has 8 (if you look at the wii nunchuk's stick, thats similar to this). Basically its easier to use charge characters (like Balrog, or Vega) using the Square gated, and its easier to use characters like ryu with the octagon gate.

great..I bought a TE stick and the only thing between me and Akuma greatness is this damn Square plate..i've never used one before, and right now, my stick is actually making me play WORSE than w the controller..I must get a OCT. gate ASAP. thanks for showing its a breeze to swap out....this is a must buy next paycheck.

@edeyie Erm, I'm not sure what the Hori Arcade Pro uses for the stick. You probably can google around ans see if the stick uses the KLF Sanwa Joystick. If it does, you can definitely install the gate!

sexyman1225: Well, oct gates access to 8 sides of the joystick with the 'lock in' feeling while the square gate only has four 'lock-ins'. Depending on your play style, some players prefer oct gates due to the easier execution methods for Hado characters in SF and some on square gates for charge characters.
