Judging from this clip, I agree that the pitch isn't sometimes there, but it is still a world class voice...The other thing is that the orchestra isn't so great. Judging from this and other clips... Maybe this was an off night for him... or how old is he in this clip, because he's basically screaming towards the end... sometimes age gets the best of us singers.(not me, because I'm only 28!) There aren't many baritone voices of this quality out there!!

Yes you're right, he sang with 3rd rate singers like Giuseppe di Stefano, José Carreras, Léonie Ryzaneck, Gena Dimitrova, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Paata Burchuladze in the provincial theatres like - among others - 'Teatro alla Scala di Milano', 'Teatro la Fenice di Venezia', 'Teatro Massimo di Palermo' and also in other european provinces: France (Paris, Marseille, Tours), UK (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastel), Ireland (Wexford), Russia (Moscow, St.Petersburg)
