I totally agree with Jaques...fortunately for the near future the new Indycar Series is switching its normally aspirated V8 engine on a Dallara chassis into turbo engines, 4 or 6 cylinders, from several suppliers.
@iRacerMatt How is it on they right course? By dumbing down an already slow engine from 650 hp to 575? That's about the horse of the ALMS GT series. F-ing boring. Not interested in going to see Indy Car at all. See ya!
f1 from being a driver talent spectacle to a manufacturer engineering ability ,whereas indy seems to be more of an open ballcourt on whos gona win the championship, race ,and its just my opinion i prefer watching drivers duke it out so to speak rather than watch ferrari and mclaren 20 sec infront of the rest,f1 is boring,jv coulld drive ok but there where better drivers in my opinion ,as for the marty roths yes you can buy your way into indycar if you want but f1 is mostly about heritage.
true they reduced the tyre width from 18 inches to 15 ,reducing the contact patch of the rear tyres to the track surface, otherwise reducing grip of rear tyres but car setup changes reducing rear track hooks up the rear tyres therefore allowing similar grip to before, and the rear track restrictions did not change for some time later, traction control, abs and power steering where three major inclusions on the benneton and wiliams in 1994 but mainly the wiliams pioneering what would soon change
,american open wheeler would be alot more satifying as a driver,
dont believe me,lookup closest 123 finish chicagoland where sam hornish jr won, find any clip in f1 where there is racing like this and ill connect my balls to a bungey cord and jump off empire state building.and as for jv his dad is the only reason he was in f1,it seams a last name has more value than ur ability to drive a racecar.
And that explains how Villenueve was a title contender in both '96 and '97, and taking the championship in '97?
Neither F1 nor Indy Car are by any means a walk in the park with driver ability. You can't make it all the way up to that level of motorsport without any skill, that's for damn sure, and you sure as hell wouldn't see any Marty Roth's in Formula 1 these days.
irl cart champ car, regardless id rather watch these then watch f1,in 1994 when the williams f1 came out with tract control and other electronic driver aids driver ability asfar as im concerned went out the window and it was up to car manufacturers who decided what driver would win
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
In 1994 there were several regulation changes that made the cars HARDER to drive than in previous years, most notably reducing the width of the Rear tires.
If anything, it slimmed out the talent in the field.
And what race was the championship decided in? Between drivers of 2 different teams?

Lol. ChampCar (CART) dead, IRL is still alive. Btw, in Europe only a very-very few people are interested in IRL. Sadly my favourite team, Minardi is finished, Bourdais is going backwards in F1, I have no reason to watch American motorsports anymore... :(
he still does prove a point. i asked him at vegas during his first NASCAR truck race about the IRL and he said this to me. the IRL still to this day has dstroyed AOWR because tony george has to much of a big ego problem. he still thinks his dumb IRL series is better then CCWS but it isnt CCWS is doing better then the IRL. personally if NASCAR wasnt around and i left F1 i'd go back to CCWS instead of racing in the IRL. because there is better competion in Champ Car then the IRL.
So? Bourdias was dam good and deserved to win. The cars this year were identical (that's parity). The IRL is not any more competitive than any other. All those dam ovals make it seem that way but it's not. The IRL sucks balls and CART was way more interesting with its plethora of road racing as opposed to the IRL's mostly ovals (at one time only ovals) The best drivers would not go to the IRL. I still laugh when I think of Montoya whipping all their asses in the 500 in a new car/track. LOL!
GoFastAndWynn I agree with you with 100% ppl should think what they're talking CCWS is better competition? Don't make me laugh.... (I laugh too much already so don't) Bourdais was ruleing CCWS so that was like F1 with Schumi.... And Oval racing is american type of racing. Racing only in roadcourses is like F1 and it's european....
Look at this season, Graham Rahal won at St. Petersburg at his first IRL Start, remember he did not run at miami, and when american was at it's peak was late 80's,early 90's when NASCAR was barely a blip on the radar, rather than the power house of media it is today
who ever likes watching the crap wagons go around and around and around is a looser. if you want to see a real oval race watch the 2000 michigan CART race, they pass each other. The only way that the crap wagons can pass is barge into each other.
Jacques is idiot. but I do agree that IRL should have never came. I do blame CART Management at the time were idiots. Andrew Craig was the worst CEO ever.
Your kidding right??? The IRL was created because of a temper tantrum. Sure the Management wasnt nice but if Tony George woulda just started his own team, he woulda been on the CART board. Instead he wanted to buy out the entire series so he can have control, and when the CART/Team owners said no, the IRL was born.
Who cares what JV thinks, if that's whathe really thinks. Just about everyone in MS has an axe to grind. I really enjoy watching IRL. Where else can you see two gals in this level of MS? F1? Pah! The Kube has made JV look a chump!
Oh please.... CART went Chapter 11 for a reason. They didn't have the first clue on how to run a racing series. CCWS has the DP01 that isn't race ready, few teams have ordered one, and a schedule that is 50% real and 50% vapor.
CART didn't make IndyCar racing. The Indy 500 is IndyCar racing.
you've got to be kidding. The only reason the IRL wasnt right behind CART in the bankruptcy line was soley because of the Indy 500 and the massive revenue it generates. And Tony George has somehow managed to fuck the Indy 500 up. The race has been a big let down for the last 10 years. He's the Paris Hilton of the racing world. Through no work of his own he inherited an empire an then completely pissed on all the hard work of his predicesors and fucked everything up
I see the Vanderbuilt cup at California-500 in 2000.
You forget something AJ1964...
IRL is losing Car Counts, and with the SCWS got the new DP-01 out. Teams are cutting back operations, look at Cheever, his team shut down at mid-season. Does it ever occured that 18-cars on any racetrack is considered boring??? How TG could field the next Indy-500, its expensive to field team in the 500? TG may have to allow CCWS teams to field the Indy-500 next year.
CCWS teams would gain more recognition by doing well in the Indy 500 than winning any of their own races. Since a great majority of them are funded by KK though they'll stay in CCWS until the funding dries up.
Borg Warner doesn't mean anything anymore. The IRL has relegated the 500 to "just another race." It's barely the most popular race at IMS, let alone the country or the world.
I agree Jacques, only that Indy Motor Speedway CEO will do such incompotent thing of ruining the true indycar series. I'll never see the Vanderbuilt Cup trophy again!
HitanApex1 watch the 1994 Featurette of the IRL announcement and you'd realize the how American Open-Wheel Racing was splited with no reason at all.

Better competition? The same guy won the championship 4 years in a row and that is competition?
For the last time, TG didn't kill CART, CART killed CART. The fans choose CART for years after the split and CC pissed it all away.
