  • yo dude what interface do you have to record?

if not, anyone please recommened a interface less than atleast 200 bucks thats good..

  • did it come with the stand?

  • Спасибо за обзор!

    Thanks for review

  • Are the boxes on your desk your monitor boxes? Because I see I have the same one and wonder, because they are very old and don't look like they are good monitor boxes oO

But I get a Rode NT1-A on christmas and if this boxes are good for homerecording, that would be very good, because I don't have to buy better ones :)

  • where did u get the foam in the background on the wall from?

  • does the pole that holds the mic come with it too?

  • nice

  • Hej man thx for the video it was very helpfull and interesting, but PLEASEEE answer this: i don't have some professional dj / mix recording stuff, but i am gonna get this microphone and have a computer with audobe audition, well my question is, can i just plug this mic in my computer? Like a usb? Or whatever? Thank you for life if you answer!!!(l)

  • @SoganProductions HEY sogan wuzup!! well man, this piece is professional, thus, requiring pro-line connectors, named XLR in this case. so, NO YOU CANNOT PLUG IT STRAIGHT INTO COMPUTER. youll will need a EXTERNAL SOUNDCARD hooked up in your computer via USB or FIREWIRE and then hook up the mic in the external sound card, then youll ready to go. okay?

  • @andrecarioni Aaaaight thx man. I've found some interface on the internet with mic plugin .. and then with another cable I've got to plug the interface into the pc???:):):)

    Thxx

  • @andrecarioni does the cord provided with the mic connect to the external sound card or is that a separate cord that has to be purchased separately??

  • "like my hand" "very beautiful." I THINK NOT! your hand has went through a lot of abuse (if you know what I mean) but the NT1A has not!

  • damn dude, take the mic out... and use it to record over this video lol

  • akg c414 xls is definitely quieter. also more expensive though

  • Can you plug the microphone straight into your computer and does the NT1-A come with the stand????

  • @JonnysRecording No, you can't plug the mic straight into your pc, you need a pre-amp that gives you 48 V phantom power, and no, they don't give a stand, but they give a shock mount, pop filter and xlr cable, you need to buy a stand and a pre-amp.

  • @claurobert1994 ebay.in/itm/PS400-Ultra-Compact-Phantom-Power-Supply-/300656020260?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item46007ecb24#ht_500wt_715

    Is this pre amp??

  • wtf I don't know what you're saying.... did you say it's the worst mic in the world???

  • @aaron4801 i ve said the worlds most quietest mic studio. sorry im brazilian

  • What's the best interface for this mic for around $200?

  • @freakboii I would say M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB for PC and MAC. Ebay it for a steal bargain. dont hesitate to buy one used (in working order of course not for repair!!)

  • @andrecarioni what about the preamp tube?

  • ok is the audiobox usb a good interface for this ?

  • Comment removed

  • faget

  • what interface do you recommend for the microphone rode nt1-a?

  • @erek496 erek, the best interface for the rode is AVALON 737 spV

  • where do u plug the headphones into hear urself record im getting a mic soon & i wanna where da headphone plug goes

  • @Smmiley12 You need to use a (extern) sound card and plug the microphone in there. Most sound-cards have a phones output. A nice soundcard for starters is the M-Audio Fast Track Pro. Check it out.

    Greetings from the Netherlands.

  • @acresground the mic or the headphones

  • @Smmiley12 A soundcard had one, two or more inputs for microphone and a few outputs including a headphone output (it says "phones" or it has a picture of a headphone near it. Google "m-audio fast track pro" to see some pictures.

  • @Smmiley12 both smilkey, both. you plug EVERYTHING into the sound card!!! mic, phones, another mic, a guitar, a midi keyboard..ALL

  • @Smmiley12 hey smiley, i plug the headphones in a external sound card (m-audio fw1814). this sound card features 2 hheadphones outputs, wich allow you to plug 2 headphones on your system. and guess what?: you can hear 2 different audio sources ...i mean, each headphones output is a different audio channel.!! enjoy tour music

  • I was interested in buying this mic for live performance, but thanks to you I now think it would have been a bad idea. Maybe you can recommend me a really really good dynamic microphone? no matter the price

  • @spandamway The only thing you will ever use a condenser mic for in a live performance is drum overheads, or cymbal close-mics. I trust you're talking about singing? The Shure SM58 is the standard mic for live vocals. Low in price, professional sound, bombproof.

  • @spandamway if you wanna sing live, you can use a DYNAMIC microphone kind, wich SHURE brand is the standard on industry. try the classic SHURE SM57, they are not expensive though! enjoy yor music.

  • I am interested in buying this mic but I was just wondering, I already have a Yamaha Stagepass 250M that has a mixing board with phantom power. Do you think I could use that as a preamp for the Rode NT1A? If so, would the quality be any different than if I use another brand of preamp? Thanks!

  • @duaneeeee hey duane, how are you doing? yes you can use your yamahas board to preamp the rode. same phantom power, no problem on it. and, about the preamp question, yes, if you use another brand of preamp you will get a better , or at least, different results in your recordings. the industry standard in mic preamps is the AVALON 737 pre amp!

  • i want to know if this mic can hook up to computer?...i dont have studio room im just thinkin to buy this mic and maybe hook it up to my computer?...

  • @toinkzization1

this microphone uses the professional line of connectors: the XLR / Cannon, wich is impossible to hook in the computer.

Youll need a sound card with XLR inputs. easy. my sound card is external, m-audio branded....model fw 1814. okay?

  • @toinkzization1 their is such thing as a xlr to usb adapter which allows you to plug the mic into the xlr on the adapter right into your computer. for more info search "blue icicle" USB MICROPHONE INTERFACE. I have heard that the quality is supreme. hope you find what your looking for!

  • Will do and thanks :)

  • where did u get the stand 4 it & the mic

  • @Smmiley12 in a local shop here in my city. its too big to buy thru mail. well at least in brazil...perhaps its possible to shop for a stand in usa via snail mail due to its cheaper fares. ANY STANDARD STAND WILL WORK ON IT

  • Thanks for showing how you mounted onto the mic stand. Basic thing but I haven't done it before so it helped.

NOW....Do you plug the cable into a pre amp and then the pre amp into an interface for the PC? Would you do a video on that? Would be nice to see that step and then actually hear what the mic sounds like.

  • @vixter1010 hellay brother musician, and yes i have a video on that. its named unboxing firewire 1814, wich is my sound card being setup in the pc. watch it, is exactly what you asked for.

  • Im new to recording but i've been playing acoustic guitar around 4-5 years and I would like to record my music but the only problem is I have a logitech microphone from a usual store/shop and I was wondering if any of you guys could help me.

  • @xXxAshersxXx your regular logitech is nothing more a cheap mike to record your voice and send thru internet...its not made for audio musical recordings. this mike (a slang for microphone) is the real deal. if you wanna record your music from your acoustic guit, go for a large cardiod mike, like this one, and please avoid cheapos china stuff. this one is made in asutralia.

  • i have the same background... and mic! lol

  • @Egungon hella. can you show your studio in youtube for us so we can see? its always good do learn about studios thank you

  • its possibl to conect this cabel in the computer? and how??

  • @MyHakob no brother, this cable will NOT go on computer. it needs a audio interface, a audio soundcard.

  • what makes a condenser mic a good condenser mic? and do you think this mic is good for vocal?

  • @ckentertainment10 a good condenser mics comes from a good manufacturer such as SHURE, specially the model SM57...BETA58....those 2 models are my choice for condensers. this rode nt1a is perfect for vocals in studio controlled environment due to is huge sensivity

  • Thank you very much! A really well made video:) I wasn't bored at all! I must wait until the end of the month to receive mine:( It is so hard to wait. But, now I know I can add it to my set-up within five minutes or so! Also, thank you for the important tips and very good descriptions! 5 stars! I wish you many blessings in your life and your family as well:)

    BOP

  • @BirdOfParadise777 oh brother thank you so much for your sweet words. hard to find these days words of positive vibration. Lord bless you and yours. from brazil, andre

  • when you got the xlr cabe to you connect it to an usb audio interface ? if yes which one do you reccomend ?

  • @LILK4ZZ4 i ve got the XLR cannon cable from ebay, and i ve choose SHURE brand. MONSTER CABLE will work even better but they are expensive

  • "very nice very nice, i'm very satisfied. I didn't test it yet"

    :D:D nice one!

i do appreciate the effort though! :D

  • @punch312 lmao I know right?

  • thnx bro...

    luvd ur vid...

  • Very nice pouch!

  • ... shock mount also fits in the hand...

  • @Jono2415

  • @noizy4 thank you noizy..i did love the pouch myself either. rode did a hreat job on mic and the accessories for sure.

  • I got this mic today in the mail. Mic, Shock mount, Pop Filter, Mic stand and 20 foot XLR cable... Probably for the same price you paid for that and mine is also brand new.

  • @nevbone1674 nice acquisition. and now, after all , are you satisfied?

  • @andrecarioni Sold that mic kept the mic stand and 20 foot cable went ahead and purchased a cheap M Audio Nova which I find has a much fuller sound and not so harsh on the mid highs!

  • i got this mic and the background noise is horrible, the sound is muffled, can anyone help?

  • @mitz657 lower the input gain on the microphone channel strip

  • "very nice pouch" haha

  • LOL - yeah, get on with it!!!

  • I know right... 'lets cut the talking'... my hairy bum.

    Appreciate the thoroughness though...

  • @capillarian187 despite i speak english, i couldnt understand your words. hairy bum. hairy bread? lol you made me smile! thanks

  • I bought the microphone now, where your microphone slightly in weight with?

  • You could have plugged the thing in and finished the video using it for sound.

  • @donepearce i was unboxing it..so how?

  • @andrecarioni Read what I said. Do that.

  • HOW MUCH IT COST?

  • cool! :)

  • what kind if speakers are the ones next to the screens?

  • @Audiosyncratic100 shity ones...multimedia pc speakers....not real monitors

  • wierd how there is reverd in the room but show the video clearly shows acoustic foam on the walls????...i'm not a pro...just pointing out what i hear.

  • haha, yeah i know what you mean. maybe its just the bad audio recording (through the cam mic)

  • @jakeblandjk47 yes the audio came from camera chep mic, thats why

  • i was thinking the same thing

  • Comment removed

  • even better with a mac ;-)

  • @jemmahixon its a microphone, what do you mean?

  • hi i have a question! ...witch mic is better ? rode nt1 or rode nt1000 ?? pls tell me what do you think :)

  • the NTK is very good , but the nt1000 is better too :)

  • im in scotland dudeee and jus purchased one of theseee....one of my homies also uses it...

    very niceee for vocals!

5 stars for this video man!

  • hellay the apprentiz tv !

thanks for you input and i do really wish you to enjoy your new microphone.

KEEP THE RODE INSIDE THE PLASTIC BAG AND KEEP IT WITH THE DISSECANT BAG ALLTOGHETER. ALL THE TIME WHEN NOT USING.

also , dont let nobody smoke in the studio when the microphone is unprotected.

the capsule is way too fragile, you know.

also, NEVER DROP THE MIC otherwise, thro it garbage.

  • thanks for the tips and hints! really appreciated!

what speakers do you use when recording? also do you use any sound proofing ?

  • I use Sony HIFI speakers, but they re quite old. I do suggest m-audio BX8-a (the big one) OR m-audio BX5-a (his lillte brother, less power)

dont get the old m-audio series "bx-5"...make sure you getting "bx5-A" attention to the A letter on the end. BX-8A or BX5-A

theyre isolated, shielded, self amplified. a great choice.

now, soundproofing? man this is the hardest part of the studio bulid.; i prefer to use a microphone cage, wich is small and cost effective

  • it dont come wit a pop filter?

  • No, it does not. Rode sells a metal-mesh pop filter named "rode pop sh filter" for around 29 bucks. SEPARATELY OF COURSE

  • yo man...

im also lookin ta record rap lyrics...

and i have a small m-audio fast track interrface... so that'll work rite...

and also.. im low on cash.. and i found it for ova $220...

but u were talkin under $200.. so were did u buy it from??

    thx

  • ebay bro

  • its the worlds quietest microphone right?

    is that good or bad?

i'm looking to record rap records on it

    thanks for your help!

  • This is a very nice thing!

    You wanna record rap lyrics?

It's perfect for you, it will capture (record) all the nuances of ya voice tone, the lower tones, the high ones...i mean with rode your voice will be WARM

but maybe a less expensive SHURE SM57 (with less warm as well) suits you also.

  • price???

  • around 180 dollars usa

  • I'm thinking of getting one. Is this the kind of mic you would use to record rap records? Good video thanks

  • man you can use this one to have the best voice record, but rap, maybe you can use a less expensive one, a shure sm57, wich suits also for live gigs not only studio

  • I have a shure sm58 for live gigs. I had a chance to test this mic out... Buying it soon enough thanks

  • how would i connect that to my computer?

  • using a audio interface like "profire2626" or "fw1814" or even more simple ones like m-audio buddy and so on. YOU NEED A INTERFACE...THAT PROVIDES +48VDc phantom power

  • Honestly i love this mic, This is the first mic sweetwater even recomended to me, and ive heard nothing but great things about it. Thanks for the vid.

  • The gold sputtered capsule and its circuitry makes the Rode a best seller

  • i got the ntk

  • also a amazing piece, congratulations. you gave best value to your money i am sure.

  • Its worth every penny

  • thats what i call a conscient consumer. someone that thinks before shops. again, my congratulations.

  • Funny, my friend is selling his Rode NTK, problem with that mic is, being a tube mic, need to warm it up for 30 minutes before proper use otherwise your quality will be roughly the same as a USB mic if not worse. He hates it. Rode NT1-A basically best piece on the market for the price.

  • Well that aint the case for me...i have a mixer board so all i have to do is turn some knobs to get it how i want it to sound

  • Ya but being a tubed my it still comes with a power supply does it not?

  • @nevbone1674 yea

  • I have this mic, too

It's the best one I've ever had!

    And it's so low priced

But I really love the NT-1A

  • thanks for sharing your ideas. come back whenever you want. your comment was very appreciated. thanks for it.

  • elastischer Halter is the shockmount

  • yes shock mount, and it came bundled in the pack. no extra cost. hope it helped

  • okeey thx!

but i will buy it on musicstore(dot)de

where did you buy the box?

cause i dont know sure, if musicstore does that too ?

    with the mix + shockmount

    thx man!

  • freund:

    rode makes different boxes.

in musicstore-de you have to read the description and MAKE SURE you buyin a PACKAGE: mikrofon+shockmount+mikrofon pouchet (a bag, to keep it clean).

  • thx for the info, i know what i want now

    btw, im not a german;)

    im from holland

and buy my stuff at musicstore

    hollar

  • if you hollander, you must contact my dutch friend "ras-pd" and talk to him. he is a long time musician and best friend of mine. he is from a small city close to amsterdam. he is a very experimentalist musician, and to exchange ideas with him would be very good for both of you

  • very nice review, you helped me alot!

is the elastischer Halter in the box already or did you pay some extra for it?

    (sorry for my bad english)

  • it is a part of it. no extra cost.

the name in english is "shockmount"

    no extra cost.

  • hey i have a question...

would i be able to connect this microphone directly to my mac book pro?

  • you cannot bro.

youll need an interface that provides you PHANTOM POWER (nothing more than 48 dc volts) because the type of the microphone.

    google it for more info.

a hint: check another video of mine named

    M-AUDIO Firewire 1814 Unboxing.

  • yes, it contains lotsa of brightness! thanks for the input.

  • You're acoustic sucks!

  • im sorry. the audio embedded in this video came from the cheap electret mic of the sony cybershot cam.

  • @SjurdurB

  • hey sport, the main purpose of the video is to show the unboxing process of the item, thus, make it slow is a must.

thanks for your comments, but please keep your talk clean.

  • You said there is a gold dot that is suppose to indicate the front of the microphone; right? But if I turn around the mic and sing at the back of it, would I still hear my voice?

  • Yes you will, but the signal will be way weaker than in the the front of the mike. Do some research in "microphone patterns" like figure-8, omnidirectional, polar...so youll understand the whole thing about this gold dot.

  • I was just being sarcastic!

  • haha thats fine

  • when your buyin it on the web on the list of things that it comes with does it need to say cord or does it always come with a cord????? (please answer)

  • The microphone DOES NOT comes with a bundled cord. YOU HAVE TO ORDER SEPARATELY. try the SHURE cables!

  • are the shure cables good?

  • Oh yeah! Definetely. Very decent price (around usd 8.00) with velcro tie. Robust and sturdy xlr connector...it is a real pro one.

  • Can the NT1 be used with canon to jack or canon to canon only?

  • it can be used with jack, yes, hence this jack is bus-powered by PHANTOM POWER 48+ VDCC, otherwise the microphone signal will be barible audible

  • well the NT1000 is 300 $ and the NT1A 200$ but i`ve got a discount for the NT1000 and i`ll get it for 200$ just like the rode NT1A ...and now i`m wondering witch one is better to order...!???

  • Anymore, the NT1000 is the price of what the NT1-A used to be, roughly around $300 usd on the Street. But, if the NT1-A is only for Vocal or Acoustic it is awesomely quiet and even warm, for a large diaphram. If high SPL gets thrown in, you need the NT1000. The RAVE of the moment is, of course the NT2-A, with both the SPL and clarity of the NT1000.

  • ok well can you pls tell me you`r opinion witch one is better ? RODE NT1A or Rode NT1000 ??

  • hum! diff mikes, diff applications! check thew price of both

  • i heve a question !! i heard that the NT1A with time sounds not so natural !! is this true??? pls if u have some experience with it lett me know pls !

  • Mine still working perfectly. Give me at least 3 years on continuous usage , then ill let ya know!

  • maybe if you miskeep it: not keeping the desicant gel bag close to the capsule of the rode nt1a, as the manufacturer advised.

  • hey what did u plug the nt1a into? what interface etc

  • Plugged the Rode into a FW1814 from m-audio.

  • yes, FireWire 1814, m-audio brand.

  • yeah man it needs 48 volt phantom power ( all condenser mic`s need phantom power)

  • hello, i have the same mic, but cant get it to record anything, i have akg c 1000 and it works but i cnt get this rode to work, does it need phantom power to power it

  • Definetely yes. you need phantom. but look EVEN WITHOUT +48V PHANTOM, IF YOU SCREAM OR BLOW IN THE MIC, YOULL BE ABLE TO HEAR LOWER VOLUME OUTPUT.

so even without phantom power youll be able to hear something! check your cables! then take your rode into another studio and test there!

  • i got a cheap pre amp for 35, but still wont work, i do not have a studio, i record my stuff at home in bed room, i only use audiocity to reocrd its a free recording software to download, but the mic still wont work do you think it could be the software

  • can be the cable, software, plugs, connectors even the microphone it self.

please find a friendly studio or music shop and take your mic and cable to get em tested

  • how much did ya pay 4 it and were can i get one for a good price????????

    PLEEZ REPLY

  • Paid 180 us dollars + 40 dollars shipping in EBAY

  • Do you use another RODE mics

  • No I dont. I use a AKG C3000

  • I like to think we've all had temporary speakers..

    I have 'em right now!

  • Remember!

the purpose of this video is to show the microphone being setup, and some tips on how to store and keep your microphone.

This is not to show the equipment of this studio. (yet, being built!)

  • you have a home studio using those speakers?... hahaha..

  • of course not, this is just a temporary speakers.

will be a M-AUDIO BX8-a Deluxe Active monitor speaker system.

    thanks for noticing.

Do you want to donate some cash in order to help the acquisition of the item?

  • no donation, sorry. I also have M-Audio speakers. Good value for semi-pro recording studio.

  • nice presentation!

the mic came without the cable?

    i need buy one extra?

    thanks

  • Exact!

15 US Dollars for a XLR cable.

    Rode sends:

    1.microphone

    2.pouch

    3.shockmouth

    4.warranty card

    so..no cable!

    dont buy cheap cables.
