woot i just dinged 70 a few days ago and i must say with only 430 defense with green prot gear and like 2 blues i hold aggro real well in instances. im shootin for 490 defense and 10k health. kara, here i come :P

for kara, youll need at least 12-13k health, 15% dodge parry and block, and 14k+ armor. if your a pally tank, youll also need a fair amount of spell damage and decent mana.

you can use kings defender to pally tank, you need a minimum of 250 spell dmg top hold aggro when pally tanking, the common 1st tanking pally wep (the continum blade) gives 121, 161 with +40 spell dmg, if you have the right gear, you can stack the Spell dmg in other items. But for me i always find it good to use a "mage wepon"

I was surprised that so few people used the s1 mace for starting kara. I dinged 70 a couple days ago and i'm farming for the s2 one as my weapon. Less avoidance than say, CFS, but with enchant, you're getting 265 +spdmg from it. And imo, weapon is always the place to get your threat from because then you can focus on pure avoidance and mitigation in your armour.

A pally tank with a kings defender is a bad idea. If that group had any sort of dps at all they would be pulling aggro.

Depends on how much damage the pally tank is taking. If they can use all their abilities to their fullest because they do not run out of mana (like on most end game RAID bosses) A tanking weapon can be used because a Paladin does not have to slow down or worry about that barrier.

A paladin SHOULD be using a spell damage weapon. If a paladin doesn't have more then 150 spell damage for Kara, the DPS will pull hate...I had a Paly tank with Thunder Fury...a total of 43 spell damage. My mage had to invisible at 85% of Prince's health, and had to wand for half the fight...Rogue had to vanish, prep vanish throughout the battle. A paladin can easily get alot of avoidance and still have a lot of spell damage...look up Jezabella on Aggramar, that's my paladin, tanks VR no prob.

With a tanking weapon and +40 spell damage I got over 170 spell damage. I know the limits of when to use a tanking weapon. Had a guildie make that mistake when he got Kings defender. I got T4 on which adds spell damage and the new badge gear. So that adds up to help.

Simple. This fight is one a paladin will have NO aggro issues on. Using a spell damage wep and no exorcism a pally has more aggro then he needs, but since prince is a demon using an avoidence wep (cause he hits HARD for that gear level) in at least the 2nd phase is critical. Using exorcism makes up for this.

490 +defense is standard for ALL tanks in kara and thats all you should ever need thus being non critable, a paladin is handy capped because they have to get the +spell damage instead of the stam imo, and thats why i think warriors are better tanks then pallys... of course, all depends on how good your tank is. but i think if you have a warrior vs a paladin in a damage taken battle and how easy you are to heal i think warriors would beat pallys.

It really depends on the group. With greater stat differentiation like that it would be harder for pally tank to meet a warrior, but pallies have a large pool of reflexive damage and can actually tank large groups. That lets classes like me (mage) cast blizzard while the tank actually dps at a decent rate, meaning they kill groups faster, need a tad more work on healing, but we're talking mass death and fast trash clearing. Btw, seal of light if the healer can't keep up.

You are right, but pallies unlike warriors do not totally rely on +defense to tank, but require +spell dmg/healing to hold aggro, but if you got the spell dmg already on your epix I guess you could use King's Defender or something like that, but usually wearing warrior gear as fill ins on top of your sets is better to gain that gap in your defense and then using a spell dmg weapon like the ZA one or Continuum Blade.

Personally i think pallies are one of the better choices to tank prince. cause warriors and druids have to keep attacking for threat. our mt is a pally and he just kept up holy shield, consecration and would judge righteousness and cancel attack so he couldnt get parried.

I use my Fang of the Leviathan (see SSC) with 40 spelldmg for prince... not a warrior weapon. ON occasion ill use a KD with mongoose towards the end of phase 2 if i have enough of a threat lead, then switch back to a real threat weapon.
