Do you like that madagascar vanilla? I've never been happy with any of the different brands of vanilla and I don't like that one much, either. I think I'm going to try some mexican vanilla next. Or maybe I'm just too picky? Fabulous recipe, by the way. I will definitely make this one.
@tuffydoodle - I do like the Madagascar vanilla. I know there are all kinds of recipes on the internet for vanilla and maybe you could try to make some and it would appeal to you more. I have always wanted to try, but just never gotten around to doing it. I have heard that Mexican vanilla is very good.
@lynnsrecipes That's a great idea, I didn't know you could make it yourself. I always think they have too much of an alcohol flavor so I really do need to try to make my own version.
@sooouuuuper - I have never used yogurt in baking, but I looked it up for you and instead of the 1/2 cup of canola oil, I found that you could use 1/4 cup canola oil and 3 Tablespoons of plain yogurt. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for the comment.
Your apple cake looks terrific, Lynn! I plan to do some fried apple pies with Granny Smith apples next week--aren't they the best for cooking! Great job on the video; the cake looks yummy!
@bettyskitchen - Thanks, Betty. Granny Smith's are great for baking. I love fried pies. Reminds me of when I was a child - my Mom made them a lot. Can't wait to see your recipe.
@sooouuuuper Yes! Thanks for the sooouuuuper idea :)! But I didn't like the flavour of the polenta so for the second time I used corn flour and it turned out perfectly! Thanks again! :)
@Bindzso cornflour like the white cornflour that sort of sqeaks when u put ur finger in it ? wasnt it a bit tasteless - oh k arent lynns recipes great i like them all
@Bindzso ty bindzso - its so funny how different countries call things by different names it can get very confusing - as i said if u used the what i call cornflour ( what u call corn starch ) it would be pretty revolting lol lol lol - my son used to love to eat cornstarch - eeeewwwww i dont know how he got it in his mouth and swallowed it - peace and love to u happy cooking
looks easy enough i wil try this for the holidays ty for shareing :)

Is it okay to use half a cup of butter instead of canola oil?
jusitke07 4 months ago
@jusitke07 - I am sure any oil will be fine. Just melt the butter and let it cool a bit before adding it.
