What people need to realize is that the way these score sheets are set out, each catagory is worth the same. Vocals worth the same as everything else...so even if Brandon didnt have the strongest vocals (which he didn't, and he likely knows it), he still won fair and square!
Not great... he shouldn't have won the Ultimate. He barely grazes the high 'A' note at the end of this... slides slowly up to it and barely gets it at all before dropping back to the Gb - it's not really in his range. BB is good, not great. Sorry.
What are you basing your opinion on? This poorly taped video or seeing Brandon in person? I have seen, and heard, Brandon do this wonderful song many many times in person. He nails it. And he DID deserve to win and he did. It has been many months since that wonderful win, and Brandon has continued to entertain his fans all over the country, and soon in Canada where he won the role of Elvis in The Elvis Story. That role is based on SINGING ABILITY. Brandon has it, hands down, end of story.
The role in Canada is not based solely on singing ability..if it were than an overweight, blonde guy who sounded like E could get the part. That role is based on the whole package, and Brandon has it. Congrats go to him...but there are ETA's out there with better vocals, but need work in other areas. Seriously though, ladies and gentlemen, when did an ETA have to start sounding or looking like Elvis. The whole idea behind the ETA is to "pay tribute", not "impersonate". I have heard this crap about ETAs for a long time and they don't even understand their own definition. ETAs do not want to be considered "impersonators" so they don't have to impersonate or work as hard. So let's not lose vision of the ETA definition. This is an ETA contest, not an impersonator contest.

I've heard some many ETAs sing "Hurt" and 90% of the time it's never good but Brandon does "Hurt" justice I should know I was front row at the contest oh and next time please don't tell me what my opinion is okay? I'm sorry SouthernGalVickie but the true test of voice is on recording, away from the electricity of the live show. Brandon is great, I'm not trying to take anything away from him but this is what he truly sounds like. To me, it sounds exactly as it did that night. The excitement of the live show is what makes the whole thing come together just right.
Hi UltimateElvis1,the excitement is a huge factor, and the voice on a recording must come through but you have to admit that the sound system on a camcorder can't possibly convey the sound as well as good equipment can or what you hear in person. Not trying to be nit picky but I have been following Brandon for 2 yrs and I know his voice and I know the sound. Another thing he does in this song is to make the gutteral growl that Elvis made in this song that a lot of ETAs dont. Gives me chills!
