When the show first began airing, the fansub groups at the time went with "Horo," as the way her name is written in Japanese (ホロ) can be interpreted with an L or an R. So it was a 50/50 chance at being right. It was later officially stated (and seen in an episode of season 2 where Holo writes her name with an L) that it should indeed be Holo and not Horo. All proper releases of the manga, anime, or novels in the west have her name with the correct spelling.

Except for cowboy bebop, in which case stick with the english. Spike's voice actor in english is awesome sauce

@superdubman999 What I don't like the subbed because i find it easier to watch it dubbed because it is actually in English and I find it harder to focus on the anime when you are trying to read the subs at the same time. I have only watched one anime subbed and that was because the second half of the season was not dubbed. The English voice actors do just fine thank you. So I don't care whether you like it subbed or dubbed. Don't see what it has to do with anything?

Its a fact, by the anime community, and dubbing companies, that dubbed anime doesnt show as much emotion, or doesnt show it in the right way. But its not because "japanese is superior to english". Thats a load of bull. Its because american dub companies dont have the money to get good voice actors.We're stuck with trash who dont fit characters and who cant show emotion or are just insane. I promise if you start watching anime subbed youl enjoy it more. Not hard to read a few letters down there

Of course, you naturally hear the most complaints when it comes to learning english, but rather it is actually easy, setting aside slang and puns. The languages rated hardest to learn were chinese and japanese. Because of the many alphabets. You have to realize who is doing the complaining about english. Its the spaniards/mexicans. Spanish is rated one of the easiest languages. Those whiners have it easy and bitch about english. German and english were rated somewhat easy as well

@lordgrevas It will be released to the US sometime in 2011. It will be both dubbed and subbed. Funimation (the company that has the American rights to it) has already begun streaming the first few episodes of season 2 on their channel. That usually means within the next couple months the DVD should follow.

(There is also a manga adaption, but the last I checked it has not yet gotten as far into the story as the anime has).

On the Horo/Holo subject, depending on the word they're trying to 'kana'-nize an 'r' can certainly be written as an 'l.' As much as I prefer "Horo" myself, Kadokawa's official romanization for ホロ is Holo.

It's more likely because there's no real 'l' sound. They interchange 'r' for 'l.' This is exactly where the Horo/Holo debate stems from. ホロ can be written as Horo or Holo. ロ = ro, but since there's no corresponding character to a 'lo' sound, they use 'ro' as it's the closest they have to it.

Example: the name "Alice" written in Japanese is ア リ ス, which when literally translated back is 'Arisu.' That リ character is 'ri,' which they substitute for the 'li' sound in Alice.

That scene is in episode 3 of S&W 2.

Ill just do a recap of episode 2. Horo learns that her hometown was destroyed a long time ago by some bear. She was upset because lawrence didnt tell her anything. Horo asked lawrence to mate with her coz she doesnt want to be alone anymore, at least with a child it will be the 2 of them. Lawrence kept silent and horo went berserk and she realized there was someone out there that truly loves her, Amati. the boy who was about to kiss her in the scene.
