Graduating and becoming a Marine has to be the greatest feeling on earth.. i leave for boot camp in a few months. i am so damn anxious i can barely take it...
To utah202020, cut out all the army bashing! We are brothers in arms against those who would harm americans! I was in the Army LRSD Teams. I did ops with Special Forces, Rangers, CIA, Navy Seal, British SAS...as well as Marine Recon! We don't differentiate who's better. We are brothers! The same goes too bannanahammer and all those who speak against us. If people could experience 1 week of what we go through and the nightmares we carry as a result of the war, they wouldn't say anything!!
my dad was in the vietnam war and he told his CO said 100 of you are going out there and only 20 are coming back and thank god my dad is still alive to this day
@ChrisNJProductions The Marines and Army are good. There's an old saying, earn the Special Forces, Ranger and Sapper tab, get any of those tabs, you earn respect for life. Earn all 3 tabs and your god. Seal 6 can beat you Marines at any time.
@bananahammer1 get out of here with your hippie shit son. Without ANY branch of the military we would be speaking foreign languages and worshiping foreign religions so shut up.
@klebanov12 Bull, the USMC trains ALL martial arts programs, and we only send the army are air born trainees, we also supply our own M16, army uses the M4 for basic and combat while marines use the m116, also we are apart of the navy, so in we leech of anyone, it's the the navy.
@ChrisNJProductions british regular infantry is more than double the training period of a us marine and each regular in the infantry must specialise in a certain area, unlike the US marines. US marines have to do 1.5miles in.13.30 and british regular army has to do it in 12.45. Royal marines must do it in 12.30 with 2% incline. So yes our regular army is comparable to your marines, if not better, hence why in iraq regular british infantry took over us marines job at camp dogwood.
@ChrisNJProductions Sorry, I got my facts wrong, royal marines must do two 1.5 mile runs one after the other, with 30 secs rest for water, the first must be done within 12.30 and second within 10 minutes at 2% incline, now that is amazing.
@bananahammer1 I'm assuming since your first smear of the world's greatest fighting force was their "hive mind" that telling you that I didn't even need the Marine's to get a full ride to a $45,000 a year college because of academics would put your theory I question. Also, "murderers and villains" aren't protecting themselves. They are showing the simplicity of your mind through their actions and are putting their desires above that of the greater good. Ask any Marine who has seen combat, killi
the song at 4:00 - What's the name of that song? I love it more than anything - as much as I hated drill, that's the only song I can effectively march to.
@bannanahammer1 you have no right to kill them murderers for protecting themselves and their fellow marines unless you have been a fire fight yourself
hey im 12 and wanna be a marine and hope to be one to. bannahammer:u have no right to disrespect the marines so if u gonna do it anymore just get the hell out of the USA
bannanahammer: you are a fricken MORON. The very notion that diversity is available to idiots like you comes from the forces in our country who have provided it to you. Free. The men and women who volunteer to serve our country make it safe for those of us (like me) who believe in the system as well as armchair pinheads like you. The real reason you will never join the Marine Corps is that you are too chickenshit to begin with. Roll that in your pseudo logicical pipe and smoke it.
you know why i will never join or support the marines? these people follow a country blindly. i can not respect a hive minded person such as a marine. they do not support diversity. they are all the same. they kill in the heat of battle and are called heroes, but a man protecting himself is called a murderer and a villain.
@bannanahammer1 Your head is so far up your ass your looking at the world through your belly button cum stain. If it wasn't for men like this your tit sucking pie hole wouldn't be allowed to spew the garbage it does. Why don't you move to one of the islamic countries if your so concerned about them???
@TheBardicDruid and also, the military has served it's purpose. we don't need to go to wars all over the world and have military bases everywhere. do we really need a base in iraq to keep us safe from the incompetent group know as the taliban? i don't think so.
@bannanahammer1 okay, so we have no army, no marines, no country, who's going to protect YOUR life, YOUR family in world with no one to protect you. Don't have to praise us, or think of us as god, just say thank you for giving up your family and other ambitions to protect my ass. That's all i ask from my fellow americans, respect.
I can't wait hopefully i will ship out in the summer. These 6 months are going by so slow. I am 18 and i will be an infantry riflemen in the United States Marine Corp... HOORAH!!!!!
I was gonna join when I was 20, and I backed out last second, now I'm 25, and working out to get in, my recruiters words stayed with me all this time, he said I'd regret no going with it, and I do, but in 6 months, I'll go back take the ASVAB, and go to San An. to get accepted. I WILL BEACOME A MARINE.
i have to get eppiderels in my back every few months for the disc pushing on my sciatic nerve but man if this pain ever goes away id love 2 join the marines god bless the usa and all branches of our fine military
Wow. The platoon show here was 1st bt, plt 1046... I was 1058. First day may 30 1988. Motivational. Just wish I could find footage of DI time. Hoorah! Damn that sucked!
US Marines and US Army Rangers are basically cousins. The training is very similar. It's like comparing a Lion to a Tiger; they are both strong felines, but a breed/species apart.
I would do it again. Joined in Oct 1966. These DI's seem to be nice compared to the ones back then but they get the job done. It helped me survive the next 45 years. Nothing is harder then or worth more then the Marine Corp bootcamp.
thanks for the video as a marine about 6 months out of boot camp i have to say its cool to see the difference in about 20 years, and how little has changed. most of this video looks just like my boot camp the biggest difference i noticed was the pt uniform and camies.
my only problem is im always concerned people r laughing at me not cuz it happens i just always am concerned about it, i hope i dont have this feeling when i go
@maezzshady159 they are the platoons guides... they are selected by the SDI or DI's at the beginning of phase 1, the flag they are holding are their platoons guidon flag! No specific job just a billit they hold through bootcamp! there is 1 guide, 4 squad leaders.
A little heads up for all you kids talking about going. Drop the OORAHS and Semper FIs. You havent earned the right to say any of it. I promise you the DIs will eat you for breakfast if you show up saying that shit or if you're wearing anything with an EGA or the word Marine on it. Wait until you graduate, this lifestyle and the ethos we live by are earned and taken extremely seriously. Someone acting the part who hasnt earned it is a slap in the face.
@ghettonerd what you saw here was not an accurate take on Marine boot camp. The training you saw is somewhat accurate the Drill Instructors are not that nice. They have to act that way for cameras. They spend all 3 months doing everything short of ripping your head off. Also doing dead hang pull ups and running 3 miles is a lot more than Army physical fitness requirements. There is a reason ONLY Marines dont have to participate in other basic training if we change branches.
The jumping in the pool and a few D&C differences are what was different from Army Basic Training/Advanced Infantry Training. Otherwise everything looks pretty much the same. I came doing 11 push ups on my first PT test and left doing 68 under 2 minutes. Some people left doing 120+ I really don't see what all the hyped up "difference" is supposed to be. Infact, I only see it on youtube by all the "future Marines" aged 12-16. It's good to be motivated but you aren't IN the military yet.
Trying to graduate high school this summer so I can go to basic this september. Watching this got me so pumped up that I managed to kill my 2 min sit ups record. Cannot wait for basic.
dude my recomendation.. dont join.. lol thats just me tho.. im a marine about to pick up lance corporal and im in hawaii.. i dont like it. im doing me 4 and getting out. i went to san diego for my boot camp. its just a lot of mind games and fuck fuck games. then you get to the fleet and you dont even have the job you wanted and your stuck doing it. and its just alot of bullshit for little benefit.. not worth it if you ask me
@coreymccubbins obviously you joined the WRONG branch Devil... if you wanted to be treating like a cupcake then you should have joined some other branch of service to have maids n shit pick up after you and do your laundry...and you should consider yourself lucky to be in Hawaii i know plenty of good-to-go Marines that would give anything to be there instead of here in YUMA, AZ!
small world ay! Yuma's not so bad. sure we dont have beaches but we do have the cool muddy waters of the colorado river, and we have authentic mexican food, not just the generic taco bell crap. =)
@shanehavoc1 Ahh lucky lucky. Good luck. I still have one more year then I will be enlisting. Semper Fi to all devil dogs. OORAH. Good luck once again.
I went to US Army BCT in 1970 and this brings back great memories.....so much is similar to the US Army. I can say that my US Army training was the pivotal point in my life....there is my life before....and my life after....
I Went to bootcamp may 17 2010. It was hard and I hated it but looking and remembering that long summer I have no regrets. I have gotten stronger and become a better Marine in the run. All I have to say is push out on everything and never quit, because all your doing is bettering yourself. Strive to be the best and when an opportunity comes take it. Hoorah
I enlisted in the corp September 27, 2000 while in high school. I completed basic training of September 14, 2001, 3 days after the 9/11 attack. I've seen all 5 parts to this and I have memorable flashbacks of the hardwork, sacrifice and teamwork that we brought to the table. I was part of platoon 3088, HONOR PLATOON. Even after being out of the corp and into the U.S. Army, soldiers still refer to me as "The Marine", because ONCE A MARINE, ALWAYS A MARINE. OORAHH!
Only 16 going on 17 but im vry interested in the marines after watching this the moving around and might not b ideal but if my gf is ok with it i would go for it and i would do my best to succeed.
@Explosive221 dude if your heart is in it do it! Are you really going to let your girlfriend make all your decisions? This could be the best thing you do with your life. If she told you no 50 years from now you will regret it. Do it for YOU and nobody else!!
The proudest day of my life was EARNING the EGA. I love the corp and everything it stands for and I am forever grateful for what I learned about myself while in the corps. When I hear the Marine Corp Hymn I get chills because I flash right back to the parade deck, I sit up straighter, I walk with purpose and my military bearing and thousand mile stare returns as if it were yesterday. Platoon 2096 Graduation day 19 Dec 1979 MCRD San Diego CA 2nd Battalion. Once a Marine.. ALAWAYS A MARINE.
@legithater sir i salute you i was heading to the army reserves then i realized i wanted to be a marine so ive decided to join the marines instead ik the road is tough but thats what it takes to be a marine so be it....
UGH Graduations always make me cry. The Ooorah sends chills all over my body.
That comment made by the DI about getting tears in his eyes... The DI congratulating the new Marine he made... Reminders that what they gave you all along was tough love.
All future Marines, keep that in mind. You wanted to be a Marine, and they'll make you a Marine. They won't give up on you, they'll make you dig into your very core, everything they do is to give You the tools to chisel that Marine out of yourself.
I went to boot camp December 1989, I was in platoon 1120 Alpha Co. We must of been right before all of these guys. I recognize some of the officers as well as a couple of the DI's. Man this brings back some memories!!!! Semper Fi!!
@KhmaiBodian559 pop on their piss test, lied on their application, get hurt during training and get a med discharge, refuse to complete training. but the easiest and fastest way out... everyone will tell you is to graduate! you will be held there twice as long if you try and take the "other" route!
@moonwalk010 I think you're referring to the dress blues...only the honor graduates are allowed to wear dress blues at graduation, everyone else wears the service uniform, which is a marine uniform, just a different one.
For those who had the ambition, courage, or nerve to walk into that recruiting office, this will someday be you. Semper Fidelis, from a poolee in California.
5:02 was so bad ass!

For purposes it is not called an EGA it is a Eagle, Globe and Anchor. Please do not refer it as an EGA.

There is a reason ONLY Marines dont have to participate in other basic training if we change branches.
lynus336 7 months ago
The jumping in the pool and a few D&C differences are what was different from Army Basic Training/Advanced Infantry Training. Otherwise everything looks pretty much the same. I came doing 11 push ups on my first PT test and left doing 68 under 2 minutes. Some people left doing 120+ I really don't see what all the hyped up "difference" is supposed to be. Infact, I only see it on youtube by all the "future Marines" aged 12-16. It's good to be motivated but you aren't IN the military yet.

@marvelmax03191
dude my recomendation.. dont join.. lol thats just me tho.. im a marine about to pick up lance corporal and im in hawaii.. i dont like it. im doing me 4 and getting out. i went to san diego for my boot camp. its just a lot of mind games and fuck fuck games. then you get to the fleet and you dont even have the job you wanted and your stuck doing it. and its just alot of bullshit for little benefit.. not worth it if you ask me
coreymccubbins 9 months ago
@coreymccubbins obviously you joined the WRONG branch Devil... if you wanted to be treating like a cupcake then you should have joined some other branch of service to have maids n shit pick up after you and do your laundry...and you should consider yourself lucky to be in Hawaii i know plenty of good-to-go Marines that would give anything to be there instead of here in YUMA, AZ!

small world ay! Yuma's not so bad. sure we dont have beaches but we do have the cool muddy waters of the colorado river, and we have authentic mexican food, not just the generic taco bell crap. =)

Hoorah

@runerage26 i know its Ooh Rah devil! not Hoorah! we are not the "ARMY"

OORAHH!

Explosive221 10 months ago

3:20-3:22 Watch how straight that marine carried that flag as he walked it while pointed ahead of him. Such discipline!
TheTallMan35 11 months ago
I was in platoon 1083 later on that same year and we all wore our dress blues on graduation day.
ccperkins21 11 months ago
UGH Graduations always make me cry. The Ooorah sends chills all over my body.
That comment made by the DI about getting tears in his eyes... The DI congratulating the new Marine he made... Reminders that what they gave you all along was tough love.
All future Marines, keep that in mind. You wanted to be a Marine, and they'll make you a Marine. They won't give up on you, they'll make you dig into your very core, everything they do is to give You the tools to chisel that Marine out of yourself.

what are some common reasons why recruits gets dropped from bootcamp?
KhmaiBodian559 1 year ago
@KhmaiBodian559 pop on their piss test, lied on their application, get hurt during training and get a med discharge, refuse to complete training. but the easiest and fastest way out... everyone will tell you is to graduate! you will be held there twice as long if you try and take the "other" route!
repthehuskers 6 months ago
I dont get it... How come not evry1 have the real marine uniform only like 5 of them do
moonwalk010 1 year ago
@moonwalk010 I think you're referring to the dress blues...only the honor graduates are allowed to wear dress blues at graduation, everyone else wears the service uniform, which is a marine uniform, just a different one.
