  • what type of slid eu think hes using, i think him and charlie patton uses some type of knife and were experts of course.

  • Chuck Berry's songs were sped up by Marshall Chess, because he wanted Chuck to sound "whiter" ...I always pitch down the audio from film that was shot for the cinema and transferred to video ...Cinema film runs at 24 fps and here in Australia TV runs at 25 fps...so the voices sound normal.

  • yip...thats it

  • Yeah, this sounds more bluesy, and the voice sounds more natural for your average black male in his late twenties. this makes sense to me because the original story for why they sped it up was because it wasn't recorded at the right rpm, so they had to speed it up to fit the songs on the record.

  • At any speed, I still think the same way Keith Richards did the first time he heard it: "Must be two guys."

  • @vooltoo

The fact is, no blues musicians have 'mid high voices'. This is what makes Robert Johnson stand out from the crowd - he often sounds like a chipmunk compared to Son House and other Delta Musicians. His guitar too sounds plucky and highly strung. If you slow down a select few of his recordings then he begins to sound amazing. This version of the song sounds so damn bluesy that surely there is no other way it would've been played.

  • @MegaGriffTits Not all but many hit mid high tenor notes and very good voice got to have bass in it even if is a high note. You already must know but listen to Skip James and Johnny Shines.

We will never know either they were or not speed up. They both sound great!! Thanks for sharing this

  • Think about this, If his recording were speed up his fellows Son House, Willie Brown, Sonny Boy II etc would have mentioned that in interviews where they talked about Robert and his music. Think about that guys....

  • @vooltoo

Which interviews are you refering to?

  • @MegaGriffTits I meant the interviews about Robert Johnson where all his fellows talk about him and his lifestyle and his musicality. They would for have mentioned if the songs were really speed up. You find a few documentaries on youtube like the search for Robert Johnson, etc. Books are very good too. Check it out VOOLTOO on youtube Megagrift

  • @vooltoo His voice sounds so much more natural in here...the other vocals seem more childish than this gritty soulful voice

  • Sounds like he's in the room...

  • Fuck... that´s the real deal. Sounds much more natural than the CDs they sell. Thanks Bro.

  • I have de CDs box set original, and never liked the sound so strident. This version is better for my taste. Even could be slower. Good idea, posting this.

  • Funkier nastier and even more like a preacher gone over to the other sde

  • Well, the blues , is a achin' old heart disease

Ironic that some notable earlier blues musicians died from heart disease ....conspiracy!

  • After hearing this, and comparing it to the other "full speed" version, the original recording sounds kinda chipmunk-y. I would agree that this slowed down version is more likely to be the natural sound of an adult male blues artist, not the other high pitched recording of R.J. Good job.

  • Willie Mae*...Lol

  • Way too slow, doesn't sound natural....His playing partner, Johnny Shines and his old gf Willow Mae, both heard his records and never said he sounded different our not like Robert...

  • yeah this is cool.your probably right about the speed.sound more realistic i think. apparently the label he recorded with was notorious for speeding up tracks to make them more exciting.

  • Mmmmm mmmmm

I's up this mornin', ah, blues walkin' like a man

I's up this mornin', ah, blues walkin' like a man

Worried blues, give me your right hand

And the blues fell mama's child, tore me all upside down

Blues fell mama's child, and it tore me all upside down

Travel on, poor Bob, just can't turn you 'round

  • The blues, is a low-down shakin' chill

    (spoken: Yes, preach 'em now)

    Mmmmm mmmmm

    Is a low-down shakin' chill

You ain't never had 'em I, hope you never will
