never got a chance to really listen to humperdinck. I like his music style. awesome guitar. kind of reminds me of tom jones or a bit more reformed bill haley.

I got to see him in concert on October 9 in Windsor Ontario and he called me on stage to sing a song to me, etc. If anyone got a photo or video of this, I would love to see it. He is so nice and he sings great, too.
I remember when this song was sung for the segment with the lady onstage, and actually, two ladies were invited. That was quite a while ago, but guess what, Enge is now opening his 2008 Tour with this song. He still knows how to move that body, and his voice, in some ways is even nicer now. He sure gets the show off to a very warm start....don't miss it.
We saw him perform live in Chicago in 1970. This really captures the flavor of his performance. Wish we had digital cameras back then. We could only get seats in the balcony so none of the pics we took were worth keeping. He's got phenominal talent, endless charm, and always a gentleman! Did anyone notice the behavior of "ladies" in the audience? I'm proud to be of the same generation.
This is exactly what a BALLADEER is supposed to do. Ballads are public property and their author is often unknown. But why don't you say the whole truth? There are many other great singers who do songs which are not really theirs -- e.g. Elvis and Tom Jones, to name only a few. Yet, each version has a unique PERSONAL touch and this is what makes the song really successful. So, irrespective of your little ironies, Engelbert has no equal simply because he "does it his way"...
Take it as you wish but Engelbert has NO equal whatsoever - Softcell mark almond or not! If you don't believe me, go to his CD-s and DVD-s. In terms of QUALITY, I fully believe in the power of taste & judgment of those several MILLIONS of people around the world who've never got tired of being his fans and supporters for... 40 years! This should ring you a bell, my friend, shouldn't it? So why on earth is it that difficult to admit that the man is good at what he does?
Confused, did you reply to my comment that we watched Tom Jones because E didn't have much get up and go? Where did "never missed a performance" mean?
Yes, my comment was in regard to not watching Engelbert.Meaning I would never watch Tom over Enge.!! However, please know I was just having fun with you!!!!
Ok. The reason we watched Tom instead of Engelbert was my son was 2 at the time they had their TV shows on the air. My son had a rocking horse. He could ride his horse like he wanted to to Toms music, Engelberts was too slow.I saw Tom in concert 1 time and that was it, don't want to see another.Engelbert is my choice.

Pretty, pretty baby. He's changed the lyric form "bring that bottle over here" to "bring that body over here" more recently. Nice improvement.
