Still remember when I heard Lie to me from a Milan radio station in 1980, I literally jumped out of my chair asking "what is this what is this it's fantastic!" :-)
If you're Peter Parker, you might remember me. I gave you a toy that you squeeze, and the eyes pop out. I worked at Spencers, and you were playing the Marble Bar, so I grabbed an Obie doll off the shelf before I came down to the show. You stuck it on the top of your cymbal stand. I think you might have still had it with you the next time I saw you there.
I can't believe I found this on YouTube! This song, by this band was one of my biggest inspirations in music . . . PURE RAW three piece playing from the heart! No overdubbed, multi-layered guitars; no crazy guitar effects . . . a bit of chorus and echo, and awesome vocals!! This was Green Day in the 80's, and should have fricken made it big!!! You guys rocked!! I still have this record! Great stuff guys!
A terrific band. When was 15 I borrowed the Stiff records box set from my library (support your libraries people) and heard "Let Go" and embarked on a hunt to find the album. I finally did about 5 years later for a dollar (a steal). I've gotta get this one. A criminally underrated band that should have been huge. I've spread their music to almost all my friends.
When you like this recording, try to find "Lie To Me" and "Disappearing". Those two songs are the best Dirty Looks (original ones) you coud hear, to me.
Hey Cromeboy! Isn't this dawnting? I just found out about this and by accident on Friday, putting my program together on Stiff Records. This is just such a great piece of pop and nobody ever recognized. There is so much versatilaty out there but people want their Tina Turner, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson mass appeal stuff instead. People, exercise your ears!

Actually, 4 videos DID exist: "Love Crimes" (shot on the S.I. ferry), "Lie To Me", "Let Go" and then a "concept" video for "Tailin' You". Since they were all Stiff U.K., it would be nearly impossible to obtain, but good luck to anyone who can!
I saw the first three of these videos on a show called "Rockworld" broacast on a UHF channel in Philadelphia. I hope the videos turn up; it would be alot of fun to see them again :)
You are completely correct--it was the same place I saw them, except it was on Channel 5 in New York on a Friday night when the show featured specific labels--Stiff, I.R.S., etc.
I had the pleasure of knowing Marco Sin, God rest his soul--he was a hero of ours (and later a friend of mine) and we recorded (but never released) a great version of "Rosario's Ashes" at his egging us on (obviously we were from Staten Island).
Good to know there are still fans of this great band out there.
Yup ... it was the videos for "Let Go", "Lie to Me", and "Love Crimes". A few months later, I was lucky enough to find the Dirty Looks self-titled cassette at some chain shop ... then I found the vinyl at 3rd Street Jazz. What a great band...

Le morceau est génial, la voix coince un peu... Et là, ça ne pardonne pas : encore un super-groupe qui n'a jamais décollé.
