I don't know if it's the fact that he's 60 that's pathetic (after all rickman is 62 or 63, and there's nothing pathetic about him), it's rather that he seems to be jealous of alan rickman or really in love with him and this is a way for him to try to remedy his own obsession? Or maybe he's just found someone to love to hate... Regardless, it does seem somewhat conspicuous...
