  • whats the song at 2:13?

  • are you peter tork? Thumbs, jiving and all.

  • Maybe just use a room mic next time?

  • You should play more bass and less treble;)

  • One of the crappiest bass sounds i've ever heard...

  • I want one of those Amp

  • this video doesn't really do the amp justice. if you play a p bass through it with the gain past half way it's got an awesome growl. good demo of the bass though seems pretty cool

  • horrible tone

  • Big bottom, my girls got'em!

  • beautiful

  • An SM57 to mic a bass cab?

  • Why are you clipping the whole way through, is it your recording interface? Maybe you should have a bass player demo this, I know the tone has to be better than this.

  • @jamaicanbwoy11 I'm not sure why the negative comments? We're just trying to have some fun here. Just enjoy or move on to the next video. Thanks.

  • @fattone77 Sorry bro, guess I was just disappointed in the sound, I'll have to hear the setup in person, I enjoy your guitar vids though!

  • @fattone77 Actually, I have the same question, with absolutely no intention to inquire in a negative way. Is the clipping your tone, or was the recording method?

  • @eMaLiO36 We didn't use the best equipment. Crappy Shure vocal mics are not the way to go when recording a bass guitar through an SVT. Check out some of our later pedal demos and you'll hear we did a much better job.

  • its a hollow body? the f hole look painted are the real ones in the back or something or am i missing somethin

  • Do you think if maybe he would turn some of them knobs and throw that toggle switch we might get some better idea of that thing could make a variety of bass tones??????????????????????????????????????????????

  • i wish gretsch would make a country gentelman bass

  • its like peter torks bass in the monkees

  • Ok, pause at 0:00 , the green one on the top row, What is it? And how much?

  • @PenguinMan013 Eastwood Airline bass.

  • Matt, the riff you play first is "It's My Life" from The Animals. The bass player was Chas Chandler not Paul Samwell-Smith who played for the Yardbirds.

  • im a bass player from sweden and im totally in love with this bass! does anyone know where i can get it?

  • 2:30 love marvin gaye!

  • @Greendore "Mother, mother

There's too many of you crying" :D

  • k aburrudio

  • So this ethnologist travels through the deepest jungle of Papua New Guinea. The ominous sound of drums fills the air. The drums never stop, they go on day and night. He asks his local guide what the drums mean. The native just mumbles: "When drums stop, no good!". Next day, same thing: "When drums stop, no good!" After a week, the visitor finally musters the courage to ask once more. "Why did you say ... when drums stop, no good?!". The guide frowns and says: "When drums stop ... bass solo!"

  • @johanneslabusch this is the kind of comment I like!

  • not much of a demo, more of you wanking around on that gretsch. you should of went through different settings, and clean tone

  • thank you

  • I really liked how you spent time actually playing the guitar instead of running your mouth throughout the entire video, like most other reviewers. Thanks!

  • actually i dont love the sound of that ampeg head... its an awesome bass power but amm, its like too wet, too crunchy for me. i like the hybrid heads better.

  • avoir un son aussi pourri avec une telle basse et un tel ampli faut quand même en avoir sous la casquette. En plus qu'es ce qu'il a le mec des vers, des hémorroïdes a se dandiner sur son cul comme ça.

  • im a guitar player do you think i could get a bass and be able to play some easy riffs and things with no trouble, or is it harder than guitar?

  • IMO, It's easier to go from guitar to bass than from bass to guitar

  • ok thank you

  • @fattone77 debatable

  • @joerox23456 you just have to get used to stretching your hands more and practice walking with your right hand, it's not too bad once you get used to the size

  • @joerox23456 If you like this Gretsch bass, you're already a nice step into the right direction: it's a short scale, which means, the distances between the frets are not as big as on a long scale. This tends to be one of most guitarists' bigger problems when tackling the bass. Also, the Gretsch sounds great with flat wound strings which will be much easier on your sensitive little guitar player fingers than round wounds.

  • @johanneslabusch ok, thanks!

  • @joerox23456 it varies from person to person.

  • @joerox23456 yes! i'm a guitar player, been playing for about ten years ,check my channel i have a few videos up, but i joined my band as a bass player, it's a super easy transfer, unless you plan on learning to pick with your fingers, i use a pick so thats probably why it was so easy, but yeah just takes a few days to get used to the thickness of the strings

  • I'll take my '73 Ric 4001 over this one anyday.

  • this guy don't stop moving his body and his head

  • if you take the distortion off on this bass, it performs what it's meant to be used for, i.e acoustic-y, smooth rockabilly tones, brilliantly. so much versatility in a short scale! i want one so badly, so damn expensive though.

  • too much distortion for me.

  • Sounds nice but isn't that a 410HE, an 8 ohm cabinet connected to an amp that wants to see 2 or 4 ohms?

  • i want that ampeg not the guitar, it looks crap :)

  • I've got a Gretsch G6072 hollowbody bass (real F-holes!) strung with roundwounds. Sounds f*cking amazing.

It's all a matter of taste.

  • fake F holes are LAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEE

  • Still waiting for the left handed model!

  • roundwounds aren't what this instrument is made for. you really need to string it with flatwounds in order to get it to sound right.

  • i agree with you, to get them to sound like what they're designed for. and most people looking at this video are probably interested in that. but i dig these guitars and epiphone rivolis with round wound strings.

  • so true man, once i discovered flatwounds i never looked back, roundwounds sound like cutting a can with a dented knife

  • @mindbodylightsound10 i'm with you on flatwounds
