She is not Hmong! She is Miao Tzu. Maio Tzu do not consider themselves Hmong. The Hmong consider themselves Maio Tzu. There is a big difference here.
@johntommike Holy craps! You are a totally uninformed person for making such an irrelevant statement. FYI: Miaozu is the Hmong name in Chinese and Hmong is the Hmong name in Hmong. Type "1/4 Hmoob Txuj Ci Kev Lom Zem" on the above search link and see a video clip of how the Hmong Chinese introduced themselves in both Chinese and Hmong. You'll hear them saying our name is Hmong in Chinese as "Women de mingzi jiao Miaozu" and in Hmong as "Peb lub npe hu ua Hmoob". Go and see for yourself.
@johntommike So what you meant, Hmong and Miao Tzu are two different ethnics? and why? Please give more detail. It seemed to me that you know much about Hmong and Miao so are you a Miao or Hmong yourself?
@johntommike When ayoudou talks in her native language to her people, she'll use the name Hmong instead of Miaozhu. " kuv yog Hmoob" = I am Hmong. Same is true to her musical intructor Lee Yang saying I am Hmong.
Agreed. I have yet to see Ayou make any public appearances, within China or overseas, not dressed in her traditional attire - of one style or another. She's obviously a grounded and proud individual - especially of her people, culture, and heritage. She's a strong role-model/symbol for all of us - Miao and Hmong alike.

Because the Hmong from Paj Tawg called her Hmoob.

@MultiSlee And because, Yang Geli, a man who sings with her and is also from her same ethnic group, has confirmed in an interview that they are Hmong

This proves Ayouduo is a brave and proud Hmong woman. I noticed she wears her traditional attire in every Chinese television interview. Hmong Pride.
