There is NO SUCH THING ass killing "in the name of god" (just wanna say it to the religious freaks, even though I am Christian), because the books and writings do NOT say you can kill anyone "in the name of god".
lmfao...what about the great flood, or when moses came down from mount sinai, or the crusades, or the inquisition, or the witch burnings....all of those innocent ones died in the name of god...but your right...it didnt actually say in the bible kill in the name of god...but that doesent justify the millions that died because of your great and holy book...
yesm u right I am a muslim, and things that were said in this song are about, I'll say for psychopaths who killed "in the name of god", despite the lyrics I like the usic in it, but not he lyrics
They end the song on a note that begins and ends Octavarium. I'm assuming that this symbolizes that the religious sacrafices cycle as well; the note leads into Octavarium which repeats itself.
Most of you are acting like children. Oh, wait, most of you ARE children. Not surprising that you're so egocentric that everyone should like the same things you do. Shut your fucking mouths and listen to the music like people with brains. This song deals with cult-related actions, not moderated religion. When I say that, I mean suicide cults and fanatical groups. Please also note the slight Arab influence of the very beginning guitar riff in the song. I think I've made my point there.
and by that I mean that Metallica was maybe the biggest influence to Dream Theater, just like Metallica is soooo different then Venom but actually Venom was BIG influence to Metallica. You cant just say what band sucks and what doesnt cause many bands come from the same roots. Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Sodom, Kreator, all from the same source of metal and Dream Theater is like a son or grand son of these and meny other bands, so stop fuckin arguing about bands!!!
I dont get it, all who cant even think about talking about metallica and dt in the same fuckin sentance dont understant that main thing that dt has made many cover songs from metallica. If metallica would not exist...would dt exist then? Just asking.
Fair call skippyasqueeze but you can't put Dream Theater and Metallica in the same category by any means. One is thrash/ heavy metal with elements of rock/blues/country and the other being progressive rock/metal with everything in between. With both bands, you'll either love them or hate them. I for one love both for their differences plus it's all round just fucking great music.
Wow, you're missing the point of the song. No need to be an angsty teen. If you want to bitch about your religion, then go listen to H.I.M. or something. Dream Theater isn't about forsaking religion or condemning it in any way.
gotta point out real quick that im not saying that metallica is bad. they aren't terrible (oops i mean were not terrible) but dream theater is so much better. Saying this so i don't have to deal with like fifty thousand OMG METALLICA ROXORZZZ comments
I am a little confused about this song. Is it blasphemy or referring to all the "Believers" who take all the glory away from God and into themselves. Can anyone help me understand this?

no. but many dicks like the pope are using religion to justify killing and other shit.

Very true. Until our society moves on from an outdated ideas from religion, we'll always be limited as to what we can achieve.
