We were sidetracked, spent too much, and lost too much for this. We'll never recoup what's lost through this mistake of a war. We gave Bush the authority to hunt down Bin Laden. If I may join that: realistically, it's much more efficient to support for example the airlines in protecting their own flights. Just help them install some security, officers, whatever suits. Secure your borders. Control the trade with explosives. And you're done, there is almost no chance of undertaking an attack the scale of 9/11.
But most importantly, there is no motivation. In ten years, the US could be a quiet country as any other.
