Thanks for posting this beautiful song. And for linking it to the man whose message inspired it, the Rev. Dr. King. It's a few weeks early, but happy birthday to the great man again in 2012. May his vision become reality.
I am 54 and grew up loving this and believing in its message ... all we need is more people to put this kind of message together... we are all brothers and sisters .. (scary connitations for marriage though lol).
this song is so hauntingly beautiful, and speaks to the heart.i wish we could make dr king's dream come true.truely god's angel and prophet.dont give up on the dream.its our only hope...
hey hey look here you people!! MLK stood for equality and was a non violent revolutionary. it's sad that so many riots almost tarnished his words. WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS NO MATTER WHAT COLOR OUR SKINS WE ALL BLEED RED AND GOD WANTS US TO LOVE 1 AND THE OTHER!!!
testify. a true man of .peace. non-violence changed this racist country forever. all of those who joined him helped america grow up. we have very far to go-still. no more wars! beautiful song.

This song is one of the most forgotten songs of the 70's....it did great on the Billboard Hot 100 charts---debuting the week of November 25th, 1972 and peaking at #3 the week ending February 10, 1973. I remember hearing it quite often on the radio while living near Duluth, MN back then! I was 7 years old at the time, and a huge music freak as well. (I still am).
@chris54724 It's in the movie "Boys Don't Cry" (featuring Hilary Swank). The story is set in the early seventies, and in one scene we see the family inside their trailer, TV on, and this song in the background (on radio.. ? or from the TV set.. ?) I was born April 24, 1973, btw, so while this song was still prominently on the charts..
For some reason this song has been playing in my head this afternoon. I grew up in the 1970's and liive my life by this motto. What a great song and what a great time in my life I wish today that we could all live with the love of each other as we did when I was a kid!!!!
This is the most positive set of comments I have ever seen on a Youtube post.Thank you all for restoring my faith in people! And thanks @TheBacmaster for posting!
Brilliant song dedicated to a most brilliant and visionary man. Dr King was asking this question years before Timmy Thomas released it a single. I think it safe to say it epitomises the true message of the American civil rights movement.
Great tribute to Dr. King and his legacy. It's been a long time since I've heard this tune by Timmy Thomas( the year I got Married). Great job on the video and thanks for posting.
Dear Bacmaster- Well-done. I remember all these times so well. I was 14 in Jersey City, NJ. We all got along, white, black, Puerto rican, asian. How I long for those days!
OMG Joe, what super great video, this has to be some of your best work!!!!!! I really love this video!!!!!! I can't thank you enough for sharing this with us, Joe you are the best,---------WHAT A GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@insideburner Hello, I want to say,"Thank You", for your comment. Most people don't understand the real meaning of this man. He had a bright vision, to bring everyone together no matter what race, religion or color of their skin.I made this video in his honor. He was truly a man of peace and suffered and ultimatley died, for what he believed in. Amen R.I.P. MLK...
@insideburner MLK Jr stood for the rights of all people, regardless of the color of their skin. He was a believer in non-violence. He saw the injustice of war from many angles.
@insideburner He did not stand for the rights of black people, he stood for the dignity of all mankind. Please drop the colour crap unless you are into racism.

Does anyone by any chance have the Why can't we live together video that was shown on MTV in the early 90's?
The video itself showed a couple dancing outdoors. It was something like swing dance. If you do, could you please contact me?
Thanks, George
