The lord has spoken thru u an yu see the funny thing is that I read a book about waitn until love finds you and the woman was sayn that if the relationship is not God-based its not going to work and trust me I kno lol bt your on the rite track guy stay with God and keep up the good work :)
If someone is willing to participate in a toxic ritual that requires them to routinely put toxic chemicals on their scalp which is part of the largest organ on their body, the skin, it has gone far beyond just being fashionable and has become a matter of disrespect to one's self and a matter of self hate--these are extremely toxic chemicals that are absorbed through the skin and that can render one bald if used improperly. Is having straight hair that necessary to do this routinely for years?
it's funny how almost every black men that's got something to say about black women wearing fake, are the man that keep their no higher than a 1/2 of an inch so that the curls on their hair won't show especially when they work around white folk, or be around white folks in public, if you evr go to a barber shop you will see that the man their want to cut their hair low to a point where the curls won't show, fagots
Balck man always talk shit abut black woman not wearing their real hair, but most black man in media mostly in sports keep their hair as short as they possibly can, never grow it more than 1/2 inch high. or just keep it bald like Michel Jordan, any one can say what ever they wan't i know most black men when working around white folks cut their hair like fagots , and no one makes a movie about it. and no i'm not a woman or a white man.....
Hey Everyone That said they liked this vid. It was make over a year ago, but the message is the same. Here at Howard University I see soo many ladies rocking the natural look. Ya'll look good. Keep Doing YOU! :)
@biteankles What if a woman needs weaves, wigs, relaxer to feel secure and confident? That is the case with most women I know. Do you care if a woman is dependant on something to feel good about herself?
@meagsworld You know, we all go through phases and different styles and different interest. The fact you pulled up this video may be a sign that you may be looking for something different. I personally don't care if women use things like weave, or relaxer, or make-up, or anything "extra"... as long as it ACCENTS their natural beauty. God made you perfect just the way you are, if you want to HIGHLIGHT that... I'm down for it. That's just me. :)
@biteankles Hey so I watched your video and I happen to be a big fan of naturalchica as well. I'm a student at Northwestern University and I'm doing an honors thesis that reflects the Natural Hair Movement as a step towards "diaspora identity" in while many people are tempted to say that we exist in a time of "post-blackness" I don't know what you might think about all that but I want to know a little more about your male perspective. Let me know, I can explain more, mrenawilliams@gmail.com
Love the video!!! we women need to hear this from men because many of my sisters think it's all about hair and their appearance and forget about the real them. I have been natural for 10 months and I think out it's an awakening experience and you get to love and like you more and more. Of course this is God allowing you to get to the real you, but I believe he is showing me through being natural. Anyways thanks again..awesome video!!
black women have the same hair as black males.....but we style ours better of course. white women have the same hair as their father and white men love their women hair. why do a lot of black people hate themselves
I think I love you......and your dimples :) thanks for making this video. Very encouraging love the point of view from an educated/intelligent man. Just watched a few videos from other men who were just blahh. Embarrased for them smh.
Thank you soo very much for your truthful opinion. It feels great to her a black man say that it is not about the hair but the self confidence one exudes. Also I loved hearing you say that the woman's relationship with God is important. Every woman should watch this video.
I appreciate the piece. But, why is there so much focus on what a man thinks of our hair? I don't see tons of videos by men stating " What black women think about fades, braides, afros, or the blad look. If they want their hair a certain way they just do it. Why shouldn't we afford ourselved the same freedom.
This video hasn't been playing for over 21 seconds and I could already get an idea of whether u'd have a problem with natural black hair or not. I guess your voice and demeanor had a maturity to it which usually is something that determines whether a guy would be easily swayed to the video image of relaxed hair as a sole idea of beauty, just for example, or not. So thumbs up.
Praise God for you! I have always been most comfortable with natural hair but I permed it a couple of years ago to "fit in" with some folks because of negative comments (these were Black folks, by the way). BIG mistake. I didn't even feel like me. I went back to my natural hair and I am so much more confident because I'm being ME all the way.
ten thumbs up dude...Been natural for a 1 year and a couple of weeks now and I must say that this is a process in which you learn how to appreciate your own self. I feel prettier, natural and confident now than ever. I am never and I mean NEVER EVER going back to perm.
@EmpressElizabeth1920.... u is so right about that part of Chicago but I stay n Roseland West Pullman neighborhood and naturals are rare and the only ones I c are older women. LOL Yeah I plan to keep my head up embrace me. Thanks.
I watched that Isiscold video tonight too, it was good. I appreciate your opinion on this because I am natural. You're right when you say that we as women are looking for men who are confident and comfortable with who they are, so we in turn have to be the same way. I love it!
This vid is really nice.... most guy should really think this way. Then again women dont really know how men feel about a women "being Natural" like you said. The little things that women think about men dont even think twice about those things. I think Women dont give men the opportunity to tell them how they feel about them being natural because they are afraid.... So We assume men wont like it.
I love this. I cut my hair into a ceasar in May used Mae's videos as inspiration. Being a biology student I could not subject my then midback hair to caustic chemicals, that I use masks for in the lab, anymore. Most people hated it but I feel sexier now than I ever had before. Thank you for admitting its more than just hair its confidence that makes it better. Already at 4 inches of bigness!
Thanks everyone for the comments.. I really appreciate them. I just watched the video again for the first time in months and it is sooo true.. A confident man loves a confident woman. I apologize for not be confident at times myself.. and to all the women out there who have to deal with men on their weakest days. :(
Just a shout out the ladies that know what I'm talking about! To all the ladies that can build up their man and the men that can build up their ladies.
great video. one thing that stood out for me is the idea that men really don't understand why women make the natural transition. in general, what a man sees is the end result of the many things we've had to endure just to maintain what "appears" to be consistently straight tresses. I think for most women who go natural, a large part of it, is just getting off the hamster wheel of keeping up a perception of who we are, just to keep the interest of black men that is not the truth.
@4cardiog I agree.. Keeping the interest of a person has less to do what they look like, but more to do with who they are and the character they have. It is tough though.. to go natural.. for various reasons i'm sure. :)
Wow thanks 4 da video. It gives me so much hope that I can get a man w/ my natural hair. I don't have light skin and my curls r not loose. I say that cuz it seems that n my innercity (Southside of Chicago) its not acceptable to wear yur hair naturally if u don't fit that bill weather it b the light skin or loose curls. Yall know what Im talkn bout "good hair". Anyways thats for the positive feedback. 1
@Bzgurl85 I live on the southside of Chicago and haven't had any problems. I get tons of compliments on my hair. Go to Hyde Park, Bronzeville or downtown Chicago. Keep your head up.
@Bzgurl85 Sis, I live in Chicago too & I've been all over the city and suburbs and I have gotten more compliments & men AND women staring at me since I've been natural for 11 yrs. So sad that you experienced that with males (not men) about your natural hair. Heck, I have even had white women ask me "how I got my hair this way" the want my hair and I do NOT have loose curls nor am I "mixed" if you will- fight the power & a MAN won't care if you hair is natural= virgin or relaxed :D
My heart let out a sigh of relief at about 2:10. No man in my immediate family likes natural hair. They think its militant and outdated, and when i chose to watch this video i was hoping u had a positive outlook on the subject because i'm tired of hearing the negativity. THANK YOU SO MUCH for being an open-minded, God-fearing individual. Ur light is being seen :-)!
finally...the truth is being secure in yourself...most likely that would assume you be happy with who you Naturally are...but at the end of the day, security comes from the inside out
really enjoyed this video...it was good hearing an honest opinion from a younger brother who talks about more than just the physical..and more so on a women's state of mind..thanks for blessing our thoughts :)
I can definitely respect that you came on here without coaxing from somebody. Not that its bad that some other guys do, just refreshing. I've spoken to quite a few men about their opinions on natural hair and I think that most of their response had to do with vanity and looks alone. Good to know that your opinion is moreso based on a woman overall natural or not.
Thank you for sharing such a positive male perspective on natural hair! Natural hair is generally viewed w/ negative stigmas, as though a woman is millitant or very afro-centric! (Nothing wrong w/ either perspective.)
It's refreshing to hear a young man give respect to women for their confidence; noticing the level of growth, maturity & even a sense of "coming into our own" thru our natural tress journeys.
OMG!! how cool are you for making this vid?? i'm glad you enjoyed our vid. you are right, more women need to hear what men think. kudos to you for stepping up to the plate. and thanks for the shout! ;)
First, I must say very well articulated! It is refreshing to see a young man who is up front about his thoughts on hair! I must agree with you that people are attracted to confidence not the hairstyle, clothes and all those other things that at the end of the day do not matter. What matters is God and his love for who we all are NATURALLY!
Hi, I'm a follower of Natural Chica and a fellow Naturalista. I respect and commend you on sharing your thoughts and opinions about women with natural hair. It's refreshing to hear. Not a lot of guys would dare to speak openly about this topic. Thanks ;-)
Yea, if we as people always compare ourselves to others, we will NEVER EVER be happy and will always feel less than. Beauty has so many meanings for different people, it's not universal.
Hi, I'm a fan of Natural Chica and have been natural for almost 5 months. I sure appreciate you sharing this because now I know my husband is not alone. As long as I maintain my strong and confident approach to life he could care less about my hair. Well as long as I don't cut it short again, lol.
Niiiice! I'm lovin' this! Thanks for the affirmations and yes, I agree Natural Chica has been doing A-mazing things. I have watched her through this transition and the growth has been inspiring. I disagree with you about one thing. I don't think this will be your last video on natural hair. Somehow I think this is the beginning of more to come. LOL!
lol.. Thanks for watching.. I don't know about more videos however.. i'm not an expert on this subject, but I do love to see beautiful and confident ladies that are comfortable who they are. :)
I love this video!! It means a lot to have a man's perspective on natural hair. I hope that more men feel this way. I am very confident with who I am, but sometimes when you see the girls with the long pretty hair (or weaves) it makes you wonder if that's what men really want. I've been natural for 7 months, and I've never felt more liberated!! Thanks for your view. I love it! :) Hit me up on twitter (nappturalcutie) or youtube (tijwannawilliams).

Hey there! Liked the video! Confident women unite! Honestly though, I have gotten MUCH more confident since coming back from unnatural.
