I've heard many Fox executives didn't like the show. My guess is the characters were more realistic than anyone will ever admit, and the Fox management probably recognized not only caricatures themselves but their own families in it. Some may have even thought they were being made fun of indirectly, thus doing everything in their power to keep it hidden from viewers.

Will Arnett is amazing! Its insane how underused he is! All the big comedy parts are given to Will Ferrel and Steve Carell while this man just gets bit parts in mediocore movies. His work on 30 Rock for example and especially Arrested Development shouldve done the trick, or illusion if you will, but in Hollywood thats not enough i guess.
