One of the best comedy films ever. Excellent cast, gorgeous locations in Venice, good script, and classical music in the background that sounds fresh and new.Why this film only gets 2 stars in cable TV ratings is absurd.

This movie seems to be trying hard to evoke the memory of the superior 1963 Tony Richardson classic, "Tom Jones" starring Albert Finney. It doesn't make it of course, but then few films could. You gotta give Hallstrom and company something for effort--for one, Ledger's lazy drawl of a baritone and wicked glances break your heart at the loss. And Irons is settling very nicely into oily villain roles as he ages...
