@treygroove65 que buen dato che..no lo sabia...me fascina este tema...mi viejo lo tenia en un variado y cuando yo era pendejito lo ponia a cada rato..ahora de grande me gusta mas todavia...saludos!!
I met Eddie in 2010 at a rail station i was working on. I couldnt believe i was standing talking to one of my childhood heroes. He was so polite and genuine, with that beaming smile, he stood and chatted for about 5 minutes and had his picture taken with me. A real nice bloke. Respect to you Eddie, Jah bless.
Bristol, St.Paul's rioted first and also tthis track was played a lot. 1980's St.Paul's was a great metropolitan place. Kind of wish it was like it used to be.
@srdjanlimich: Is the song I was referring to on the album "baby come back"? I doubt it because the song came out around 1977/78...I may be wrong with the year though.
This is one that famed Detroit DJ, "Electrifying Mojo" use to give an extended work out on his late night program on 107.5 WGPR back in the early 80's.
I have been looking for this song called "Are Your Ready for Me" done when Eddy Grant was with a group called "The Equals" ....Would be nice if someone can upload it....
Why aren't the festival organisers considering him , I know he's had his health issues and ting (see what I did there ) Ha ha ha . But seriously , I'm getting a bit sick and tired of seeing average headliners ! Flo & the whatsitsface,Muse?,fuck U2 2 , Give Grant a chance , fuck me, i think he's earned it !
we was squatting at 2 railton road-went out come back to rioting-we allgot good stuff-saw a lot of me niebour in chelmsford prison soon thereafter-rare days-gettin fat in antigua these days-
this raggedy ass DJ here in atlanta would not play eddie for me one night. a reggea dj would not play eddie! he said if i wanted to hear eddie i would have to become a dj. needless to say he ain't on the air NOMORE! damn, how you not gonna play eddie. that's like not playin bob!
That's incredible, I've just found a song I listened on the radio when I was 13 years old! I still like it so much, especially now that I can also understand its meaning. Eddy Grant is a great singer.
Indémodable et probablement le meilleur morceau avec "Do You Feel My Love" et "Electric Avenue". Dommage que ce soit introuvable en téléchargement....
Yeah just reading rasorder's comments re Brixton and the 'Frontline'. Wasn't this Atlantic Rd or where the outdoor market is held on Sundays? (went there many years ago) Electric Avenue is Brixton too isnt it? As soon as I heard this again I could see the news footage of the '81 riots in my head - reminds me too of Toxteth at the time (I lived there for about 12 years. ) Powerful music.
pentz1.........Rich he might of been at this stage in his life, but in his early years, he was part of the poorest poverty stricken people.
He had to fight, and fight hard, mainly from polatitions and law inforcment officer who did not like people exspressing their freedom of speach. Must of been hard, back then in the 80's. Today its simple, just log on to youtube and sing a record. EDDY GRANT, a poor boy who became famouse, not for his music but for his WORDS.
In a lot of ways, Eddie was ahead of his times. Not many black pop artists were so diverse and on top of that have a political message. Also, he bought copyrights to all his tunes. Sensible and RICH guy
