It's only been recently for me, that I learned about the fandom. I think it's all just in fun. I know my fursona is a skunk called Ash, but that's as far as i have got.
I also find the "fursona" term kind of confusing. I think it some times comes across as being a split personality thing rather than just an artistic creation.
This is why I prefer the term "furry alter ego" over fursona when bulding characters model after one's self and/ or reflects the personality one would like to have.
I actually based my fursona around myself. I am a Rare quarter albino raccoon. This is because I am an insomniac, so I am always up during the night. I am also the only person in the last 5 generations of my family to have any talent with art. This makes me rare and nocturnal.. much like the rare albino raccoon.
I did have you in mind when I made this two part video as you are most likely not the only furry meeting a block in creating furry characters. Don't worry about your road block. It took 15 years to get to the furry alter ego you see in my video title card and he's still a work in progress.
Yeah but in my case I've had two other fursona and a handful of presona before this. The block is due too anger at a furry message board that I was part of for years before furry trolls took over.
Does a bird count as a furry?

I have seen bird based fursona's in the fandom. I beleive they are called avians if I recall correctly. .

It took me months to figure out what my fursona was. I finally got her though. ^.~
I have three. One is me. She is just like me in every way. Then I have my more girly side and my tom boy side. XD

I can make a fursona easily when my heart is into it.
My heart isn't into it so trying to make one is just forced and thats not going too produce results.
