  • olive oil is too expensive for fulthy mcdonalds to use so yes its bad for ur health stupid american ! now go eat some burgers and be glad of it cause u deserve it !

  • Is cholesterol saturated fat? Sorry for my ignorance, im 13 and im tryin to learn about food choices.. Well my family buys vegetable oil with no cholesterol, so I know that saturated fat is bad for your body but I don't know if cholesterol has to deal with saturated fats.. if yes then that means that vegetable oil is healthy? In my olive oil's bottle says that is good for your hearth, and this video is old, so maybe the studies went wrong .. im confused

  • @MissRenesmeePretty Olive oil is perfectly healthy and natural, vegetable oil is a processed gmo and is highly pro inflamatory. You should check out a documentary called fat head which is avalible on here in it's entirety or on netflix. Unless you are a vegetarian/vegan it will probally make you mad. But it really expalins what cholesterol is.

  • What did hey say at 0:14 and everyone laughed? lol

  • What about the 107 year old man that consumed olive oil religiously and lived to be 110. This study is bullshit. Boo this man.

  • i smell a rat in the study. butterfat was excluded from the study on heart effusion, fish oil that hardly anybody eats was. then i learn the big pharmacy is selling a fish oil tablet. thats a direct conflict of interest . these fuckers are big pharma parasites. ignor everything they say.

  • you heard it from the man animal fat has no effect on blood flow. butter is hundred times better than olive oil.

  • @datzfast oh but wait butter and fish oil are not the same and i say of course he didnt measure butter, he was probably paid not to measure butter. but thats crazy why woulndt butter be included in a fat study?> i say yes that is crazy that nutter isnt included in a fat study.

  • @datzfast Animal Fat is Animal Protein... and fat. Butter is horrible for your endothelium.

  • @zevgreen no animal fat is fat animal protein is protein. where did you go wrong in life?

  • What about RAW fats like coconut, raw eggs, Avocado. what do they do in the blood stream? Our Body NEEDS fat, even each of our cells do!!

  • What about motor oil?

  • @anklepantsmagazine Same result, just faster.

  • Oh yea...and the holocaust never happened either right? What a bunch of bull.....you guys have your heads up your a$%^%$!

  • @bandcreator28

Because it is just fat. There is nothing good in it, except the traces of Omega-3's, but we can get those in the whole foods (like leafy green vegetables and starches), without drinking a whole bunch of saturated fat and Omega-9's (which the study Jeff references in the video showed are damaging to arterial health).

  • @bandcreator28

The example is intentionally silly, but I hope you didn't miss the point: People can "survive" on all kinds of diets. But we *thrive* on diets that fit our design. And oil is not a part of that diet. ANY oil.

  • @bandcreator28

Some people have been stranded in the U.S. and survived on Krispy Kreme's and sodas ;-)

  • You gotta die of something sometime. Nobody is going to live forever here on terra firma.

  • How about flaxseed oil?

  • OK, we all consume and or cook with some type of oil's! it's nearly impossible to not. I pick olive oil because i like the taste and it fry's foods that i want to eat ( a few times a year ) very well. I also like canoloa oil for now and then frying. AFFORDABLE is key here any of these oils are way too expensive. and few of us have money to buy Coconut Oil = X god forrbid that sounds disgusting to me. anyways what is a good oil? Cheap yet Semi healthy for your heart

  • Are we that arrogant that we think our human-made concoctions will provided us with a state of health superior to that granted to us by nature? Or culinary inventions may boast creativity and ingenuity of our species but I doubt we have outdone nature. If everyone here is that concerned with optimal health than drop the boxes, bags, containers, cans, bottles and anything with a label. We humans wrongly feast on substance, not sustenance.

  • ANYTHING is healthier than the standard American diet (junk food). I bet if you ate arsenic, it would be healthier than the standard American diet.

  • This is one very "dependent" video. =p

  • This is complete BS!

  • PUFA (polyunsaturated fats soy oil, canola, corn oil) are fed to livestock to Gain weight quicker eating less food. Saves the farmer $ on food. PUFA oils lower the thyroid of animals, which increases weight gain, then decreases their immune system making them sicker, requiring being put on non-stop antibiotics = unhealthy animals = producing unhealthy meat and dairy. They were designed to eat Grass, not grains. Grass fed meat/dairy actually does now increase cholesterol; is higher in Omega 3

  • UnCOOKED olive oil is supposed to be the healthiest way to consume it. Apparently heat destroys & changes the fat molecules so it's not digested the same and can even be toxic to our body. Fat _free diet is NOT healthy. We need some good fat for our body's cells and tissues to function right. Less fat is better with good fats. I always gain weight from too much Olive oil and loose weight when I use coconut oil in my diet. I've read that from many bloggers

  • This video went viral on Pyongyang

  • Bottom line= different strokes for different folks. Everyone's body is different and such. Everyone wants to be a d@mn know it all and "expert". What worka for me could kill someone else.

  • @HELLO20242 Amen. The experts are killing people. Learn everything you can so you can customize your own personal diet and excercise based on your own unique physiology and body chemistry.

  • First of all who are these guys? Just because they are doctors doesn't mean anything. Your body needs lubrication aka healthy fats. Olive oil is an essential fatty acid. Called essential because it's something the body has to have but doesn't make on its own. I wonder what they have to say about Borage Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Sunflower Oil, Flax seed oil, etc. All essential fatty acids.

  • @Apryl1975 hes not a doc hes a dietitian. I am studying to be a dietitian and I think olive oil is GREAT for you :) this all-fat-is-bad talk is so 1995.

  • @Apryl1975 If you google, Dr Ray Peat... he is not advocate for PUFA oils, they increase inflammation in body. But, i think less processed oils are better and consuming more Omega 3 is better and less Omega 6 from what I've read. I'm coconut oil fan too. If you like coconut oi, don't consume coconut sugar (read Tropical Traditions alert... i just found out it wipes out future coconut trees)

  • Canola oil is extremely bad for you. It's genetically modified crap !!!!!

    NEVER consume canola oil...

  • @Metsada007 Canola is very low in a toxic oil banned for human consumption. it would take 20 years of consumption to kill you dead. by then it could be blamed on old obesity. the heart disease or cancer could be blamed on secondary factors such as atherosclerosis or just too much sunshine when you were young. just be glad you are avoiding it.

  • I'm from Turkey and know how incredibly healthy olive oil is. People in Greece and especially Crete know it too. If you tell people in these regions that olive oil is bad for you they will think that you have lost your mind. And they are right, you are crazy.

  • What about coconut oil? Grape seed oil?

  • @beboystyle Google "underground wellness the coconut oil miracle" and listen to that podcast. Coconut oil is one of the best for you.

  • @beboystyle coconut oil is one of the healthiest things you can consume, period!!! Try to get it virgin and unrefined.

  • @beboystyle coconut oil is over 90% saturated fat. Of that 30% is the worst of the saturated fat. We should have no more than 5% of our diet saturated fat

  • @euromixer120 The saturated fat in coconut is a long chain fat and it has different effects on the body as regualar saturated fat. Its very interesting so see the new reasearch on that. Very good for the heart and liver.

  • @charles555558 So true. Just read about the beneficial saturated fats in coconut oil. Interesting indeed. But don't it's awkward that market swings have a serious ence on topic discussion? Coconut oil market wasn't doing very well lately and suddenly up pops a study on the healthy side of coconut oil...

  • @beboystyle Coconut oil has the highest concentration of saturated fat.

    To answer, No Oil!

  • He is talking crap. Obviously he is a shill planted here to mislead people He is trying to give Canola oil(which Genetically modified Rape seed, that was used as industrial oil) a good rap.

This idiot takes studies out of context. raw coldpressed olive oil is great. He seems to be lying from his body language.

Aslo this idiot says coconut oil is not a big deal it does not contain any protein or nutrients comparing it with sugar. Seriously do people eat coconut oil as a protein supplement. Remind

  • Reminds of me of a quote. Don't judge a fish's on its ability to climb trees.

People go cuckoo over coconut oil because of its MCFA(medium chained fatty acids) that have anti virul properties increase metabolism, the lauric acid is easily digested and is a good source of energy unlike other fats.

I think Novack Has an agenda here to promote Canola oil as a healthy oil and lot more.

  • @Shrila1 don't bank on it. Saturated in excess in whatever form causes liver to produce cholesterol where as olive has more mono unsaturated fat the kinf=d that helps transport cholesterol back to the liver.

  • you are all paid by big pharma to talk bull!!!

  • @sczemerynski06 "you are all paid by big pharma to talk bull!!!"

The issue is that, predictably, the public has misinterpreted the carefully worded health claim allowed by the FDA. It says that replacing saturated fat with equivalent amounts of low saturated fat oils may reduce CHD. But some people take that to mean that glugging extra OO on their food is healthful, which is known to be quite false. The panelists are trying to correct that misconception. OO is *less harmful* than animal fats.

  • Article in Neurology the most highly read peer-reviewed Neurology journal in the world....Conclusions: These results suggest a PROTECTIVE role for high olive oil consumption on the risk of stroke in older subjects. tinyurlDOTcom/6qkmdn2

  • @FruitTrees4Life Well, you're improving. tinyurlDOTcom/cxgecxq is interesting. But the abstract is not clear as to how they controlled for sat/trans fat intake. Was it the OO? Or the lower sat/trans fat level? tinyurlDOTcom/7cbnyh9 is more clear. The they didn't control for s/t fat. In tinyurlDOTcom/7cbnyh9, the effect is attributed to the trace phenolic compounds in VOO. If true, eating a single blueberry per day should achieve the same effect while avoiding several grams of sat fat intake.

  • Exclusive olive oil consumption is associated with lower likelihood of developing left ventricular systolic dysfunction in acute coronary syndrome patients: the hellenic …tinyurlDOTcom/7cbnyh9

  • Consumption of Virgin olive oil, rich in PC, could provide beneficial effects in coronary heart disease patients as an additional and complementary intervention to the pharmacological treatment. tinyurlDOTcom/cxgecxq

  • "preferring olive oil to other added lipids, particularly those rich in saturated fats, can decrease the risk of upper digestive and respiratory tract neoplasms, breast and, possibly, colorectal and other cancer sites." I wonder who the scum is trying to discredit the health benefits of olive oil.

  • Michael A. Friedman, M.D. . . former acting commissioner of

the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

  • Michael Taylor went directly from working as an attorney on Monsanto's behalf to becoming the FDA's deputy commissioner for food policy. Under his watch, rBGH (a GMO growth hormone for cows) was approved and studies indicating that rBGH posed health risks were virtually ignored. Eventually, large companies, including Walmart, banned it from their own brands of milk.

  • A recent 2-year study by the Russian Academy of Science, the equivalent of the National Institutes of Health in the U.S., showed that 3rd generation off-spring of hamsters that were fed GMO food were virtually sterile, had a 25% higher death rate than the control groups and were growing hair in their mouths

  • @FruitTrees4Life You should probably listen to at least the first segment of this Skeptic Check episode of Big Picture Science:

    tinyurl . com / yeu2npa

Michael Specter does a good job of covering how misguided people like you would do great harm on a global scale if people took you seriously & you got your way. With a world population of 7B & growing, it's the very advances you hate which are holding mass hunger at bay. Particularly in developing nations. Try to start thinking past next week.

  • @sbergman27 Its people like you and Michael Specter that are the reason 1 out of six children in the USA has a developmental disorder.... and obesity, cancer, asthma etc... is all epidemic. I LOVE science, I love knowing in detail how certain chemicals turn genes on and off, resulting in diseases... Its brilliant. We have plenty of land and water on this earth to feed everyone, HEALTHY good food!

  • @FruitTrees4Life More bold claims that you can't provide evidence to support. It's hard to see how you could "love science". You don't seem to understand what science is. Science is about experiment, data & peer review. An evidence-based approach. What you seem to like is called pseudoscience. In pseudoscience no evidence is required. Just superficial trappings of science, a domain name, a blog host, & a credulous audience. The world needs critical thinking skills far more than your fruit trees.

  • @sbergman27 See, now thats exactly how I feel about your "science" just because something was peer reviewed doesnt mean its factual, money buys science "ghost writer" is used to deceit. I need the evidence not the words of some paid scientist that works for the industry. If the world used its critical skills, we wouldnt have polluted food, water and air. We would all be healthy, and happy. No child would starve to death. People NEED food, water and air to survive, NOT chemicals!

  • @FruitTrees4Life My science does ~160 studies of organic vs regular food, publishing the results in the literature for discussion & criticism by the scientific community. A literature review of them finds that organics are no better & that the result is replicable by researchers all around the world. Your science works by your going to an activist blog site & if you like the propaganda espoused then it is true, BTW, you've still not posted any links to the studies "proving" your wacky claims.

  • @sbergman27 gerson therapy seems to come to the conclusion that organic food is pretty significant, our DNA does not recognize GMO DNA in plants/animals, so it creates cellular stress. Just because science doesn't yet have an answer, or the studies are being pushed to come to false conclusions to perpetuate a money market, is just that. but, we will believe what we want.

  • Generalize much?

  • It's almost impossible to know what to believe anymore. One minute something is very good for you and a few months later it's very bad for you. A while back products boasted on their labels "Made with Soy" Yaaaay! Now they say "Contains no Soy". I feel like a big human lab rat sometimes. It's hard to find an educated nutrition expert with no agenda. Is that even possible anymore?

  • @isabelzavoranu

Yes, it is possible. Look into:

Dr. Max Gerson, Dr. Norman Walker, Dr. Johanna Budwig, Dr. Donald Kelley. Also look into Dr. John Christopher.

Soy was promoted so much because it made lots of money for the farmers and the food processing industry.

These day, since people got more educated about the soy being genetically modified [thanks to Monsanto company] they learned to avoid soy. The companies catch up with the demand and promote their products as being soy free.

  • @gigiontube "...people got more educated about the soy being genetically modified .. learned to avoid soy."

Farmers have been genetically modifying crops for centuries. Here, you are probably talking about more precise & targeted modifications, implying that to be bad. But aside from "what they say" on health blogs written by people with no relevant credentials, you cannot support the assertion that targeted genetic improvements are, as a class, deleterious. You've not been educated, but misled.

  • @sbergman27

Oh, really ? Monsanto genetically modifies plants so to absorb all chemicals including RoundUp without dying; see RoundUp ready corn.

What is RoundUp in your opinion if it kills everything except those plants which were made not to die? And when you eat those plants, filled with those chemicals, including the poison called RoundUp, what happens to your health in your opinion? Have you heard of BT corn ? do you like your gut producing pesticides inside of your body? You are misled.

  • @gigiontube Oh, please. Obviously pesticide-resistance is a desirable quality in crops. Such traits are responsible for hundreds of millions, or even billions of people having any food to eat. & no, crops are not designed to 'absorb' pesticides. You're changing the subject, though, from your soy conspiracy to your 'Roundup' conspiracy, after having changed it from your olive oil conspiracy earlier. Like I say, if you have real data on any of this, please present it, or drop your silly claims.

  • @sbergman27

As long as majority of the people are so well brain-washed as you are, Monsanto and others like them have the green light to continue to poison us as much as they want to. And yes, plants are designed by these people not to die when RoundUp and other poisons are absorbed.

Most people are starting to wake up and see the reality. One day, you will too.And then you will remember me.

    Best wishes to you.

  • @gigiontube "..majority of the people are so well brain-washed as you are.." .. "Most people are starting to wake up.."

Please make up your mind. Anyway, while regulations & monitoring vary by country, in the US the FDA regulates & monitors for a broad range of substances, including pesticides, in both domestic products and imports. Reports have been published since 1987. & the raw data is downloadable here:

    tinyurl . com / 8996z7n

Rather more convincing than a Laura Ingalls docudrama, I'd say.

  • @sbergman27 Do you even have a clue to how GMO foods were approved by the FDA? Research revolving doors, GMO and the FDA! I cant believe you claim to be soooooo smart, yet you believe the FDA is working for your safety!

  • @FruitTrees4Life I've read your serial-posts to the thread. & frankly all your words say essentially nothing. You make vague innuendos about "this guy worked here & then worked there". & you present your interpretation of 1 study with a bit of concrete detail to suggest credibility. But not enough to identify it. Pointer to the abstract, please? The burden of proof supporting your claims is on you. BTW for your conspiracy theory to work it would have to be global. The US is 1 country among many.

  • @sbergman27 Ive read yours and other corporate shills post for years, you are writing nothing new. Try to discredit the messenger,(ME) and no one will listen, Ain't that right? You forget, a MOTHER will go to hell and back to find the TRUTH about why her child is sick and God help any person that gets in her way. Its not about money for people like me, its about KNOWING the damn TRUTH!

  • @FruitTrees4Life I've no ties to the ag industry. You've made bold claims about scientific studies proving GMO foods (please define) not to be as nutritious as..what? & about sterile Russian rodents with hair in their mouths. I'm simply calling you on the nonsense you're spouting & asking for links to the supposed studies. Here's a literature review of 162 studies which demonstrates organic to be no better than regular (largely GMO) foods:

    tinyurl . com / 7v5d66c

    tinyurl . com / l94hnb

  • @sbergman27 GMO foods have been proven in scientific studies that they are NOT as nutritious, and they taste TERRIBLE! They have no flavor, yuck. Why mess with OUR food source? Why remove the seeds from veggies and fruits? WHY is it the people with money can afford to buy ORGANIC (as if its a privilege to eat normal food) while the poor are given crap to eat!

  • @sbergman27

I would suggest to watch "The seeds of deception" [here on youtube] to get another perspective on what you were made to believe so far. Monsanto does a great job on making people believe whatever they want them to believe. They have great resources for that.

Research "Vandana Shiva" and you will learn a lot about what is going on in the world.

    Best to you.

  • @gigiontube In general, I don't wast my time on conspiracy theorists. Certainly, I don't watch 90 fictional documdramas to find out where they get their zany ideas. Or heed 2nd hand reports of what "ecofeminist"(?!) physicists talking way out of their field, might have claimed (or not). You're scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit there, aren't you? Look. If you have some published, peer reviewed data you want to talk about great. But so far in this thread, you've done nothing but blow smoke.

  • @isabelzavoranu Learn to evaluate the research & you won't such a ping-pong ball for the media & advertisers. Answers are rarely as black & white as presented in the media. Soy is still a good, high quality protein containing some plant sterols which appear to have some cardio-protective effect. The "contains no soy" labeling is in response to the current smear campaign against soy. Olive oil is beneficial when it replaces saturated fat, but has been mistaken for a health food by the public.

  • Olive oil is a refined oil. It does contain essential fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6, but you'd have to consume a lot to really get the benefits from it; other sources provide greater amounts. One tablespoon of olive oil is 120 calories and 13.5 grams of fat or about 21% of the daily recommended amount of fat. If you are healthy and eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes, then eating a small amount of olive oil from time to time would be OK. I prefer to stay away from it.

  • @theradicalrachel Depending upon the particular olive oil, you could get the recommended AI (adequate intake) of ALA omega-3 by drinking 8 oz a day. That would just about get you the recommended 1.6g/d. However... you couldn't eat anything else. 8 oz of olive oil also blows your entire calorie allotment for the day. About 2000C. I doubt that Dial-a-Dietitian would approve. ;-)

  • idiot

  • The fact is you do need some fats in the diet and this is much better than animal fat. That having been said, frying's not as good as boiling and boiling's not as good as eating raw.

  • BULLSHIT. webMD and mayoclinic say virgin olive oil is good for your cardiovascular health.

  • He just explained it cliffcox66. They were able to live longer because they did not overeat and their daily intake consisted of a lot of fruits and vegetables.

  • We can't look to individual testimonials for credible conclusions. These scientists and doctors conduct mass testing, cellular -level examination, and clinical practice. Doubt it if you want, diet trends will change because science is proving there is a physiological predetermined way for us to eat. Soon the choice will be as black and white as smoking cigarettes... you want to take chances just for emotional satisfaction, or do whats right for your body and be assured you will be healthy?

  • What a load of BS!

There are studies that confirm that good quality fats/oils do reduce stroke risk.

The "good" fats make the inside of your blood vessels more slippery and this actually prevents the "bad" fats from sticking to the walls of the blood vessels.

But this does not mean that you have to consume tons of nuts or olive oil etc...

Just eat well balanced and good quality foods.

And of course even this isn`t the single answer to healthy eating

  • Where's the study?

  • my grandma was 102 years old, when she told me to consume lots of olive oil.She said that, this was her key to a long life.I´m turkish and we use lots of olive oil in our food.So stop talking rubbish.

  • @bundeskanzlerinIslam Anecdotal "evidence" is worse than worthless. Olive oil didn't make your granny live a long time. Countless factors were involved. There's nothing *magic* about olive oil. The saturated fat in it raises LDL just like any other. It's better for you than animal fats. And its high MUFA content is arguably good. But canola has half the saturated fat, as much MUFA, + omega-3 ALA & doesn't cause this constriction problem. But canola is not magic either. Just better than OO.

  • @bundeskanzlerinIslam what is life for you? it doesen't matter how long you live it matters what you do

  • @bundeskanzlerinIslam Did you ever think that the benefits were from the salad rather than the oil? For most of your grandmother's life, she didn't eat a western diet of processed foods, so the oil may have been inconsequential. But someone raised today, with a western diet, needs to maximize nutriet absorption, and oils (especially hydrogenated) ill-effect this process.

  • @mrtruthforever sorry ,but we use oliveoil in nearly everything we eat.and thats by far not only healthy stuff believe me. I just cant believe that.I think my grandma was completely right.

  • @bundeskanzlerinIslam OO is better than animal fats, but has more sat fat than most veg oils. (16% vs ~13%). OO has over twice the heart-clogging sat fat as canola, and lacks canola's beneficial omega-3 ALA. Canola has comparable MUFA. And if you are relying on OO's much-lauded antioxidant polyphenols to redeem it, consider that an exclusive diet of 2000 cal/d of OO would *not* be particularly high in polyphenols. Just 1/4 cup of blueberries contains more PP than a quart (8000 cal!) of OO.

  • @bundeskanzlerinIslam remember these words are coming from America, one of the most obese nations... and from what I understand - the portions seem to be huge compared to European dishes.

  • @philipjterry thats true

  • Well, he doesn't really say much about the whole new blood-flow test. How does it work and what are the implications of low blood flow. What part of the body is being measured? Blood flow IS less after a meal because blood goes to your stomache to pick up nutrients.

  • Comment removed

  • @bundeskanzlerinIslam the kind of olive oil used in turkey is much more pure than that sold here in the states. also, the turkish diet does not contain much processed food. i know some thais who lived long on guess what? COCONUT OIL. other factors make up long life, not some stupid oil. ur people and the thais do not eat much processed food.

  • There is a movie/documentary called "fat head" that goes in depth into the lipid hypothesis. It also talks about "Super size me". It is basically a rebuttal for super size me. Excellent film.

  • im afraid i must agree, since I started eating less & daily greens & fish, i started feeling much better. around below 300 gram rice & greens a day seems to be even more food than I need. With this amount of food im not even loosing weight. who would have thought. Go greens go!

  • Finally at what price did you offer your MS,RD,LD etc titles and your terrible sense of humor as a back up to the new "scientific" clues?

  • I can understand why you don't consider olive oil responsible for the benefits of the certain diet. What I can not understand is the sudden attack to the particular product. What is that research that overturns so dramaticaly not only the solid scientific results of years but also the indisputable diet quality of generations. In what quality of oil sample did you base your research?Shall I also presume that before your brillant discovery you were consuming olive oil and now you don't?

  • I wish Youtube would show Likes/Dislikes bar on the Thumbnail so we

  • What americans knows about Olive oil ?!

  • There are overwhelming quantities of studies proving that olive oil is good for the ticker. This guy's nuts.

  • Ok, lets recap DOC, your talking about putting Olive Oil with the "Typical" american diet, not the oil its self.

  • I would like to see the guy in this video explain how Jeanne Calment - the longest living person on the planet attributed her longevity to olive oil "with everything"

    Quote:

"which she said she poured on all her food"

  • What a joke.

I just checked the study -"10 healthy, normolipidemic subjects five meals"

A: They did not even mention the type of olive oil used (some off the shelf US brand vs authentic Extra Virgin High Polyphenol Olive Oil)

    B: The study is tiny.

C: This guy looks pale and do you want to look like him or a smooth skinned italian.

  • mediterraneans dont eat olive oil because its magical, we eat it because it goes perfectly with the foods we eat so they are more tasty. That way you can eat any vegetable no matter how nasty it tastes.

Also, american problem with food is not fats by themselves, its mainly sugar, unnatural sugar to be precise

  • Fuck Off Olive Oil is bad for you... Italians have the lowest rate of heart disease in the world....

  • The top two comments were apparently made without reading the description or even watching the whole video.

  • I would never trust an American health 'expert' with my diet, especially in the GM bully capital of the world - US.

Look around you, it's dead-easy to be your own scientist. What are ppl eating? Where are they eating? Do they look healthy? People instinctively know what's good or bad food.

IMO listening to a bunch of ppl trying to undermine 1 aspect of a diffculture's diet when their very own is raised on sugar, salt and starch, is just bad for anyone's psychological wellbeing and health.

  • This is typical of the western mindset that focuses on symptoms & nutritional profiles, rather than the whole body/being & its needs. Read up on Traditional Chinese Medicine's perspective on diet (especially cooked vs raw foods), which focuses on the energetic (yin/yang) properties of food and which of the two energies the body and its organs are deficient in. Traditional Chinese did not eat raw salads, raw oils, fruit/veg juices, & shied away from cold foods. These foods often deplete energy.

  • Ok I came back to this video laughing. I was typing a new youtube search in the bar because this talk bored me. I finished typing and hit enter when I realized he just finished a sentence saying "people sometimes shut their minds, and don't want to hear something new..." HAHA

  • 4:29 "They got away with eating olive oil because they were eating fruits and vegetables" That statement and the study that he quoted is absolutely ludicrous. Gazillions of long-lived Mediterraneans "got away with it"? Sorry! There are many who would disagree with that statement. Statements like that cause people to scoff at the credibility of those who promote a plant-based diet.

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha! tell that olive oil is bad for heath to the North African Arabs and to the Mediteraneeans. they dip bread in it for breakfast, cooked in a souce, stir fry vegetables, make cookies and even (just some people) take a tsp before sleep. yeah, change olive oil with canola or whatever oil you promote in USA.

  • It's a nonsense! These men were paid to say that in this video. Olive Oil is extracted fruit and there is not possibility that oil be unhealthy . If were that true, men from biblical times couldn't live for so long because the power base their diet was olive oil

  • What is the best oil to use then? I quited fast food so my family and i can live healthier and we are een eating more veggies, also we quit buyng from h-e-b and started buyng from an organic store.

  • Explain this to all those long lived Italians.

  • @cliffcox66 im very Italian and my grandfather and mothers lived to be 94.

  • @combatfoot Yeah, This guy's nuts.

  • @cliffcox66 My Grandfather is 97! he uses a tablespoon a extra virgin olive oil every mourning! He is from Sardinia, he eats no Gluten, Dairy, and sugar!! and no meat! Plant based diets are best! but olive oil, coconut oil, and hemp oil is very good!

  • @5tonyvvvv But hemp is illegal :(

  • @GanjaEclectus Hemp oil is sold in most health stores, and here in California its Legal.

  • @5tonyvvvv So it must be imported then! :)

  • @GanjaEclectus Its from California and Canada, and its the number 1 Cash crop!!

  • @5tonyvvvv Yay! It's the best plant in the world!

  • @cliffcox66 must be the cannoli's

  • @cliffcox66 It's BECAUSE they eat more fruits and vegetables than Americans. They are healthy INSPITE of eating lots of olive oil. Because they eat more fruits, vegetables and grains and less high fat refined foods.

  • @cliffcox66 And while they're at it, let them explain the lower rate of heart problems in the Mediterranean peoples!

  • @Phikay1 Easy. They eat lots of fruits & vegetables. Some nuts. Eat fish regularly for EPA/DHA omega3 fats. Red meat only sparingly. Their diet is very low in sat. fat. And, oh yeah, use oil instead of butter or animal fat. It's the whole diet, people. Not that olive oil is some wonder-elixir. In fact, the more we learn, the more it looks like the Mediterranean diet works *in spite of* olive oil & not because of it. Even then, the study most cited: "Lyon Heard Study", used canola and not olive.

  • @cliffcox66 You mean those long-lived Italians that also have a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly tomatoes, eat less red meat, use less animal fat & eat more fish than we do? Those long-lived Italians? And oh yeah, they use olive oil.

You sound like that old Yoplait yogurt commercial where they showed superannuated Tibetans eating yogurt, implying that their life expectancy was all about the yogurt. This negative effect of olive oil is real. But only part of a much larger picture.

  • @cliffcox66

    great proof, bro... *Pokerface*

  • @7high I've been critical of the silly responses like cliffcox66's and bundeskanzlerinIslam's. But I'll make one criticism of Vogel's study. It was a very small one with a subjective component to the key measurement. They properly evaluated that. But still, I'd like to see a larger study done by another team replicating its results before I buy into this. In particular I find it questionable that a little romaine, tomato, carrot and basamic vinegar would so effectively nullify such an effect.

  • @sbergman27

If you want to learn about fats/oils, what is good and what is not, study the work of Johanna Budwig and Dr. Max Gerson. Actually. Dr. Budwig was the first to classify the fats and study their properties. She wrote about the olive oil not being so great in 1950. She is the first one who differentiated the oils by their chain length, electrons content and used Flax seed oil [rich Omega-3] as part of her protocol for curing cancer. Her books are available on Amazon.

  • @gigiontube Why study the work of people who worked in the 50s & haven't published on the topic since? Any opinions they might have held had to have been based upon the sheerest speculation. This is not classic literature hour. This is science. Much better to look at modern research like the Lyon Heart Study, etc. & the results of the large cohort studies begun in the 70s. The problem now is not the data, but public misconceptions. Olive does *less* damage than animal fats. More is not better.

  • @cliffcox66 mineral water!! Italians are the main consumers of drinking water in the world. Of course the olive oil and garlic, along with a little wine = a long healthy life!

  • @FruitTrees4Life

It's not only about water, oil, wine. It's about the clime too. Italians in Italy stay in sun a lot, so they are not vitamin D deficient as the American are. They don't stress themselves over everything like the Americans do. They walk a lot and use bicycles. Their vegetables and fruits are rnaturally ripe in sun not in storage, And they don't have so many chemicals added to their foods. We have Monsanto poisoning us with their GMO corn, soy, canola and coton, and not only,

  • I believe in Olive Oil....and FOK is good too.

  • Jeanne Calment also smoked until she was 117, so I guess that means smoking is also good for you.

  • I believe in Oilve oil also. France has low hear disease and uses 50% olive oil/butter together when cooking. Also, microwaves have been proven to change the molecular structure in plants, water, etc so you are to avoid microwaving anything if you want the vitamins.

  • @Leiann2u "France has low hear disease and uses 50% olive oil/butter together when cooking."

False. Look up the sales statistics. France uses ~20x more butter than olive oil. In fact, per capita olive oil consumption in France is a mere 1/4 teaspoon per day, compared to nearly 2 tablespoons/day of butter.

  • I am afraid there is some misunderstanding in these recommendations.

Low fat means higher carbohydrates. Excess carbohydrates are stored as palimitic acid in our body, That is a saturated fatty acid, which increases LDL-cholesterol.

Olive oil (extra-virgin, and RAW) is rich in oleic acid (mono-insaturated), in squalene, in anti-oxidants etc. You can combine it with other oils rich in omega-3 (walnuts and especially flax) to get a very healthy intake of fatty acids.

    Oh, I am vegan, BTW.

  • The medical community is afraid of natural cures because it hurts their cashflow and thats what this B.S. is all about. My sister's life was saved by seaweed after doctor's threw every pill in the world at her, blood tests and everything else and all they did was turn her into a zombie. She started taking sea kelp tablets and within 2 weeks she started healing.

  • Whoever posted this was just trying to get clicks. Looks like it worked! Science is always coming up with some bull shit test that doesn't really reveal the truth about the matter at hand. Adding fat to the blood is a good thing. The heart is a muscle that needs to exercise. Of course the flow will slow when the bood is thicker. No shit sherlock. Knowing which fats are good and which ones are not is the question. Olive oil, in moderate quantities is a great food... a proven winner!

  • DO NOT COOK OLIVE OIL! It's stability when heated is lost and releases free radicals, which are cancer promoting.

  • Apart from this all, olive oil has just been introduced and widely spread in the western world for what? 10-20 years at most. We'll see how the longterm results will be. Before that, I haven't seen ONE study proving olive oil has direct health risks that are significant. Eating anything can be bad, it can increase risk by 1% . Doesn't mean it's significant.

  • These murdering bastards won't tell you that canola-crapola is made from POISONOUS RAPE SEED! There isn't even a plant or tree called canola; the name is MADE UP. Rape seed is one of the most poisonous weeds with an deadlier toxin, and even insects avoid it! So why would YOU consume it? And why would THEY tell you to consume it. Because it's a poison, and they know it!

  • There are 4 olive oil grades, and less than 5% of the ones labelled extra virgin are authentic, high quality and improve one's health. Evoo must be produced with care, knowhow, from the RIGHT variety of fruit (not all olives are born equal) grown well, picked and processed correctly. We producers cannot compete with this unfair state of the market, nor thrive for however long it will be that no action is taken to protect everyone's health and finances. Consumers, distrust and seek information.

  • Those people don't look any healthier than myself! Just eat smaller portions and exercise...no mystery.

  • Olive oil= who the fuck cares it's oil your not drinking it by the gallon are you? your using it for cooking purposes.

  • I am SICK of every time you find something good for you, some numb-nut comes up with a study to disprove it, and you end up having to start all over again.

Might as well as go crawl in a cave somewhere and just become a hermit.

I have a friend who is very
