how dare someone dislike this song! its a great song. and considering at selah grew up in Africa and suffered the hardships there, why dislike the truth?
@beanscot i know this is late to say this, but the reason im offended with that dislike is because my parents are missionaries to the DRC, and im preparing to go next year. so i am upset with that person. also, one of our translators, is coming to visit us here in georgia, for christmas, and this song reminds him of home.
I have the cd this is off of. The preacher's voice is the dad of two of the original Selah members, Todd and Nicole. They grew up as missionary kids in the Congo. How wonderful to hear the Lord praised in any language!
by and by o when the morning comes, all the saints of God are gather home and we will tell story how we overcome when we understand it better by and by
I used this song to help my 6 year old understand that people in many different countries worship God in there own way. I explained to him that not only are there different churches that practice their religion in different ways here in the states but God's people worship him all over the world in different ways and tongues. This has become one of his favorite songs and he requests for me to play it for him all the time. Thank you for this song! May God bles your ministry!
My pleasure beanscot :o), but I need to correct my info up there. i just spoke with my parents & they actually grew up in the Bandundu which is next to Bas-Congo but the language is still kikongo from Bandundu. Thanks!
It is not swahili, it is Kikongo, spoken in the bas-congo. I am from there & they grw up in that part of the COngo as their parents were missionaries in the bas-congo in DR of Congo. Thanks!

great song...when the morning comes we'll understand it better by and by...mungu asifiwe
the language is swahelie, and is native to that part of africa, I learned that if you listen over and over and over till you actually get annoyed u can understand the "vibe" of what their saying a little better =]
my cousin went to Kenya and had some of the most incredible stories about the worship services over there and how they have adopted old songs into contemporary versions. This is music where people are truly singing their hearts out.
Second verse: We are often destitute of the things that life demands; want of food and want of shelter, thirsty hills and barren lands. We are trusting in the Lord and according to God's Word we will understand it better by and by.
Chorus
Third verse: Trials dark on ev'ry hand and we cannot understand all the ways that God would lead us to that blessed promised land. But He guides us with His eye. And we'll follow til we die for we'll understand it better by and by.
First verse: We are often tossed and driven on the restless sea of time. Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine. In that land of perfect day, When the mists have rolled away, We will understand it better by and by.
Chorus: By and by when the morning comes. When the saints of God are gathered home. We'll tell the story how we've overcome, for we'll understand it better by and by.
