People are saying it's a groundhog or possibly a baby badger. Do either of those climb trees? I'd side first with the groundhog people, but it seems kind of odd still.
Hmm...interesting. How come these types of videos are never clear? People, if you find something unusual, document it clearly so that later we can tell what the heck it is. If you can't tell what it is in person, how are we supposed to tell what it is from a shaky, sub-par home video??
From its behavior it seems like it could be a baby separated from its mother. And judging by all the noise in the backround of four wheelers? They were probably passing through and got scared off and this little guy climbed the tree while the rest of his family took off and now he has no idea what to do. If thats the case hes not gonna budge unless he either gets scared off or it sees its mother. I dont see the mom coming back anytime soon. Short legs short tale? Maybe a baby badger?
My vote is for a groundhog, though I've never seen one in person either. But I love how the mom is like "Go closer. . . If it runs at us I'm gonna laugh." No concern for the kids whatsoever. More concerned about poison ivy than this "mystery creature" who may attack her or her kids.
It looks like some kind of rodent, for sure. I'm still looking at possible species, but I think you can rule squirrel out because of its size and the fact that it isn't climbing further up the tree.
you tard its a beaver
