  • I am also a FA who has some physical disability's and grew up in a disability institution. While KR speech was good. He made no mention of Children with physical Disability and how DR would pressure parents to put there child into a institution and throw away the key. Or where parents were force to give up the child because of the disability. I was a normal person with some disability's. but when i came out of the institution i was all screw up.

  • its now 7 months since i attended the apology, i came home to my government owned house to be told the gov are selling it ,yes just a number allways a number...its not much of a house quite run down really, but ive put in lovely gardens, a pergola and painted it..its my humpty dumpty house.. i feel safe here i have never felt safe anywhere since leaving the childrens home. but now i am safe no more a nobody again..you gave me an apology only to abuse me again.im so sad so broken again thankyou,

  • What a hollow apology the heads of state have made this.

Anyway...all my foster parents said that after they flogged me "OH Sorry"

This will hurt us more than you....etc.

A well executed speech MR Rudd.... did you actually read it or simply recite it???

Nothing said means anything anymore......actions can be the only redress/ .

  • I was there in the Great Hall & you could feel the emotions of all. I am one of the forgotten Australians. Now I am no longer forgotten. This apology can't give my childhood back, I know my healing can now begin.

  • May our healings begin

and we find our own belonging.

  • I can't believe they took such terrible policy until 1970s. No wonder aboriginals had treated badly as well. Same mentality with that of the south africa.

  • I was kicked out of my goverment run home at age 15 in 1983...was in the ballarat childrens home and a few others as an infant...(from the age of 1year)I,m pissed off an apology is,n0t enough for the abuse that has left me with a phsyciatric illness..that has made mine and my young childrens lifes, alot harder than..what our normal life would have been,if I hadn,t.... been raised by 'the australian goverment welfare system'...from rose. b of ballarat

  • the year 1983 wasnt that long ago...I thought.. legally children were supposed to be legally in an adults care...I was 15 then, the goverment didnt care...threw me away like a bag of rubbish..thanks to my australian owned home ...thanks to all of the nasty staff members of the ballarat childrens home(you know who you are)this is your apology..I hope this compensates you all..just as this empty apoloy has me..from rose.b of ballarat.

  • the goverment owes me more than an apoloy.they raised me for my first 15 years of life and screwed me up..they owe me for also abandoning me as a minor..my welfare home was goverment owned..rose.b of ballarat

  • Unite & sue the govt for the compensation.

  • well done for proudly identifying yourself. love, a fellow FA

  • imagine the compensation. the vibe in your comment says you know it will be ALOT. now imagine that compensation and REVERSE IT - that is the toll WE HAVE ALREADY PAID. how costly is it to us? as a result, how costly has it been to YOU? "a well paying job will be harder to get", carbon tax etc etc - do you realise how many of us cant even READ & RIGHT? You think YOU may have limited chances as a result of this - once again, you are miles ahead of a ton of us......

  • lol clearly you didnt get the point lol the point was the some of us cant read and write lol!! i was demonstrating the irony lol....

  • Mr. Rudd ... You are the Man!

  • Well done.
