  • Great video, dude. What is the total cost of the GoPro with InfaRed and the 2 IR Lights? We are very interested in getting one of these for some night airsoft games that we play.

  • Zachmac, does the Gopro sensor pick up lots of IR light, specifically concerning outside? I've had dismal performance in low light conditions with it. I'm debating implementing your Ragecams mod. What if you used both Sima lights at the same time? Is it possible to get a really broad range of visibility?

  • @djcarrollable Yes, infact the camera picks up so much of the light I have to put it in spot mode (with one light) in order to keep it from over-exposing. This year I am going to try and mount the light much further away from the camera so that it doesn't close the iris on my camera making it so you can only see me and allow the camera to see more of the surroundings.

  • Unlike most board cameras, the IR cut filter on the GoPro is actually on the lens itself. To "modify" it all you have to do is put a cheap regular board lens on it and WALA!

To "switch it back" you just put the original GoPro IR cut lens back on.

  • Once you modify the GoPro for IR, it's basically an IR camera and should be kept for using night vision only. If you want a GoPro for daytime stuff, Just simply buy another one. They are not that expensive.

  • hey Zack, its Dennis from RageCams, im going to send you a free lens for all the

video promotion you've done, what one do you want?

  • @smkdog435 Dennis,

I am glad that my last video was of use to you. Thanks for the offer on the new lens!! If you could send me a lens that as wide angle as you can get while still being able to fit in the housing and without vignetting that would be great!!!

When I get it I will create another video for you!! The last one has been very popular did you get many requests for NV lenses after I created it?

Can't wait to test out the new lens.

    Zachary

  • pretty kool man

  • zachman, good work, thanks for the promo on RageCams, here is our new video we made for comparison with the contour roam:

  • what music is that at the begining

  • how hard is it to remove that infared film?

  • isn't it fish of all animals that can sense infrared?

  • @Smiffy918 no it cannot

  • Can the gopro function in broad daylight with the IR filter removed?

  • @Solscud yes but the footage looks pink.

  • @Solscud Now ragecams has the new day night lenses for ir sensitive, and perfect day time replication, totally awesome

  • @smkdog435 Sweet!!

  • cool vid. i'm lovin my gopro too and am making vids like yours. keep it up

  • Thankyou, Nice review friend

  • Smart!

  • thank you

I will shot you a message via youtube..I have few questions

  • nice video

what is the point of removing the ir filter ?

  • @SurfcastersJournal

removing the ir filter allows the gopro hd hero to have nightvision when used with led illumination.

RageCams offers this service & can modify gopro cameras and do lens changes as needed.

This can also be done with the drift hd170 and the contourhd plus.

    Thanks

  • wats ur name?

  • Good work fella!

  • nice work, the night vision looks great!!
